My f*cking GOD! It is painfully obvious that R* saw that people whine about planes like a bunch of girls on these forums, and they know themselves that planes wouldn't work in this city. SO, they wanted to show everyone that they implemented planes into the episode the only sensible way they could. A highly action packed "scripted" plane mission. I assume that it will be done nearly the same way as the one in SA. Planes won't be flyable, and if this trailer makes you think that then you deserve to be (this part has been left out do to me not wanting to be banned for telling the truth). wow, what a dick you are, You judge people on what the believe, real mature and in case you can't read, I said IMO, my opinion, i wasnt forcing it onto anyone, fool. We know it is your opinion anyway, so adding "IMO" sounds pretty damn silly to say. Floppay is right...there is nothing from that trailer that says we will be flying planes. If anything, it looks like it may play out like the scene where Niko jumps onto the helicopter form the boat or bike at the end of GTA IV. Or it's all simply a cutscene. IMO of course so don't question me You don't know people are like on the internet? This is so true, but all honesty, I wouldn't be disappointed if there were no planes, BoGT offers alot to be excited about that has already been confirmed. ONE THING???what about car tuning?, basketbal?, diving?, cheats?, barbershops?, buying properties?, atv"s?, riding trains?, truck trailers?,towtrucks that actually tow?, Most of those things are trivial features that didn't help the gameplay of San Andreas in any way. In fact, one of them you can actually do in GTAIV... But I will give you cheats, they should have had a cheat to spawn EVERY vehicle given how the cheats were done... SpecialAnimal Posted October 8, 2009 Share Posted October 8, 2009 I don't know if this was mention before, but if it is a mission where it's similar to San Andreas, wouldn't the plane run out of runway by the time you got to the pilot or whomever the target is, or would they really just have the plane circle the runway until the mission ends? What brought me to this is that it shows Luis on a bike (assuming he's chasing the plane and is not just stopped next to the open door) which would take a good bit of the runway to catch up to it, and then it seems you actually get on it so the time from grabbing it and then climbing up the stairs is an extra amount of runway. Then the actual shootout or what-have-you on the plane. In the time it takes to do all that, the plane should, in theory, be in the air by then.. but I don't know, i'm no expert. So I don't know, this video really doesn't show me enough to believe there will be pilot-able airplanes. It could just be another epic Three Leaf Cloveresque type of mission. Why some people get so carried away about planes is beyond me. Is it some sort of fetish? Go and buy flight simulator or Hawxz if you want to fly a plane. It's more than that about the planes. You got to get it if you just don't understand why we want planes in GTA by now then you never will but you probably won't be able to pilot the plane. Especially since R* has already said so ( I want a link though but I beleive you all). Regardless you will probably have a shoot out in the plane or it will be quick time or a cutscene and then you will have to parachute out. But hey at least we get to go inside of a plane! We don't complain about the lack of flyable planes because Planes are so great ( even though they are) the plane is really a symbol. A symbol of freedom of I really can do anything. That I can do something that under no normal circumstances I would otherwise be able to do. That is fly a plane between skyscapers in Liberty City. Me and others who want planes want them because it gives us options. I mean you could say that thiers no need for motorcycles in Niko's story. I mean he's a hard core Yugo killer why does he need to ride a bike out of mission? What do they add? They add choice they add oppurnities to try to new things in game. They extend your play time more than most things can. Flyable Planes have been in every console GTA since number 3 and seeing my old friend gone from this HD expericence is sad. So that's why we want planes. I'm not saying they are more important than the story or that if they never come back that I would not buy the game but I will say that without them the game is missing something that has made GTA great -FREEDOM-. Okay, so the game doesn't feel FREE unless you can fly a bigass jet in a circle at 500mph. Gotcha. Planes would feel INCREDIBLY tacked on if they just put them in to clean the sand out of your vagina. It would be the equivalent of playing Snafu on a screen 4x smaller than normal. I didn't know that Dodo's flew at 500 mph's per hour. I swear most have a top speed of around 150. And not only that but why does it have to feel tacked on? If a modder at home can make a working plane ride : a multi billion dollar corportion with a thousand developers can sure as hell make planes work. And what San said made alot of sense What's the big deal with cars in GTA? Why does everybody seem to love stealing them, driving them, racing them--I just don't get it. Someone please indulge me. Why have planes you ask? Why have helicopters? Why have boats? Why have motorcycles? f*ck it, why even have cars in GTA? The more diversity of vehicles the better I think. A sandbox is more fun if it has different kinds of toys in it. Imagine how fun a sandbox would be if it only had dump trucks. GTA is the same way. It's more fun when we have more options and more toys. I don't think planes make or break a GTA game, but they do add another dimension to gameplay. Even if we don't get to fly the plane viewed in this trailer its inclusion has made possible a completely new kind of mission experience. Just think of all the missions in San Andreas based on planes or that relied on planes. Now all of those creative mission possibilities that were available via planes in San Andreas are no longer possible in IV because they were excluded. Yes, the map is small. Yes, there is only one airport. But as this trailer shows planes aren't just fun because of their practical use--i.e. making travel from one part of the map to the other faster--they're fun because they add one more prop that we can interact with. The only way I can see planes being added is if it was a small stunt plane, like the one in SA. *sigh* I really miss the vehicle schools, especially the flying school. I'd love for some sort of stunt plane with some challenges to go along with it... Alas, I know that there's no realistic way that we're getting a stunt plane (or any other sort of flyable plane, save maybe for a mission).
