Why some people get so carried away about planes is beyond me. Is it some sort of fetish? Go and buy flight simulator or Hawxz if you want to fly a plane. Yah i don't really understand the love people had for flying the jets and planes. It was pretty cumbersome imo and besides missions i never bothered. SO, they wanted to show everyone that they implemented planes into the episode the only sensible way they could. A highly action packed "scripted" plane mission. I assume that it will be done nearly the same way as the one in SA. IDK about bobgtafan, though, but most people aren't that obsessed with it. They got everything else that they wanted (parachuting, APC, a wide range of weapons, new vehicles). That I can do something that under no normal circumstances I would otherwise be able to do. That is fly a plane between skyscapers in Liberty City. Me and others who want planes want them because it gives us options. I mean you could say that thiers no need for motorcycles in Niko's story. I mean he's a hard core Yugo killer why does he need to ride a bike out of mission? What do they add? They add choice they add oppurnities to try to new things in game. A. we use a parachute and get out of the plane. B. We fly the plane somewere. But in plane it could be a.. cutscence quicktime regular shootout As much as I would love to fly the plane and I keep the option open some people on this thread are taking it to far, " Maybe we get to fly to the middle east and see goats!"... Why does everybody seem to love stealing them, driving them, racing them--I just don't get it. Someone please indulge me. Why have planes you ask? Why have helicopters? Why have boats? Why have motorcycles? f*ck it, why even have cars in GTA? The more diversity of vehicles the better I think. A sandbox is more fun if it has different kinds of toys in it. Imagine how fun a sandbox would be if it only had dump trucks. GTA is the same way. It's more fun when we have more options and more toys. I don't think planes make or break a GTA game, but they do add another dimension to gameplay. Even if we don't get to fly the plane viewed in this trailer its inclusion has made possible a completely new kind of mission experience. Just think of all the missions in San Andreas based on planes or that relied on planes. Now all of those creative mission possibilities that were available via planes in San Andreas are no longer possible in IV because they were excluded. Yes, the map is small. Yes, there is only one airport. But as this trailer shows planes aren't just fun because of their practical use--i.e. making travel from one part of the map to the other faster--they're fun because they add one more prop that we can interact with. We know from modders that San Andreas-esque airplane handling is dormant in GTA IV and Rockstar could just make a plane model and switch on plane mode if they wanted to. The most I hope for is you get to fly it during the mission and you can fly anywhere around the map until you land at the airport and end the mission. I can't believe it wouldn't be listed as a vehicle if you got to keep it. Best not to assume anything. It could rock, it could suck, it could be meh. At least it looks awesome. Sigh... this mission was covered in the preview. You have to jump from a plane to convince the head of the Liberty City hockey team to sell the team to Bulgarin... you parachute from the plane, it's covered in various screenshots and hands-on previews. Honestly you're probably not going to get to fly it. It's just entering the plane then jumping out of it. I don't see why people are so anxious to look for what's not there. You can do more with a plane than just fly it around in a circle. Just like you can use a car to do more than just drive around in a circle. If Rockstar's cock wasn't so far down your throat you might realize that. I can think of a number of cool missions Rockstar could make using planes. Imagine a mission given to you by Yusuf Amir where you have to crash a private jet into another jet flying into Liberty City that is carrying a rival group of real estate developers. Yusuf insists that you not use a rocket launcher or Buzzard attack helicopter to take down the plane, because the crash must appear to be an accident. After crashing into the plane you must parachute out of your flaming jet that is quickly plummeting towards the earth. This next mission would be a stretch because of 9-1,1 but I think it would be fun nonetheless. Imagine a mission similar to the one featured in the recent magazine demos where Luis parachutes onto a skyscraper and has to kill the owner of the Liberty City Rampage (the hockey team). Instead of parachuting onto the building and shooting your way to the office why not just fly an airplane into the office skyscraper? I love IV, I love SA and theres nothing I would love more than to see planes in this episode, but lets think about this from R* point of view. We know these guys do listen to their fans occationally, but we also know that if they were sitting their mulling over showing this cut scene (or whatever it is) they would look at it objectivly and say "lets show it, even if it eventually leads to dissapointment at least we will get the fans talking about it and excited about the game. Lets be honest, 90% of fans would love to see planes back in GTA so if R* were really going to do it their hands on reviews with the mags and online sites would have included planes. That way the reviews would spread the word widely and eveyone every single fan would be massivly excited about the new episode. Logically speaking I just cant think why R* would choose to omit planes (the biggest fan gripe) from the hands on if they were going to go ahead and include them in the game. I mean there werent even any hints to planes in the hands on!!! Verdict:- (I hate to say it because I was excited when I saw the trailer) but I dont believe planes will be included in BOGT. When GTA IV doesnt have that much Content as it did in SA, Everyone starts complaining.... EDIT: On Topic: I dont care about planes anymore.... Re-playable missions sells the game to me immediately.. SR2 = Replayable missions but none are really Fun to replay Vanilla IV = No replayable missions But most of them are too fun to play once. For that scene, i think you are going to Parachute out of the plane before it crashes back to the airport... But like what shinsta312 said, i'm just going to let it be...
