Brawly
Hey does anyone know how to uninstall patches in GTA IV? I reinstalled the game but instead of downloading the patches in order I installed the 4th patch straight away and I think thats why my game keeps crashing. It's definitely not a hardware issue since it ran great on vista and XP should run it even better also this is the only game that crashes, so yeah any ideas? DHoff
What kind of errors are you getting? Or is it just a CTD? Edited September 28, 2009 by DHoff
Brawly
I get a "FATAL Error" message sometimes but most of the time it just crashes to desktop. I might try reinstalling again but IV takes so long to install.
DHoff
Can you gives us a little more info? # Where exactly in the game do you experience this issue (start screen, while playing the game, etc.)? # What version of the game you have (retail, steam, other online store)? # What are your system specifications and OS? mkey82
Try memrestrict. You can install 1.0.3.0 over 1.0.4.0, try and see if that helps.

Yeah installing the earlier patches seems to have solved the problem I installed the other patches, 1.01, 1.02, and 1.03 and the games stable now no crashes yet. Thanks for the help guys. mkey82
Patches are cumulative and you shouldn't install older versions over later ones. This is not valid only for 1.0.3.0 which can be installed over 1.0.4.0. The game will probably work, but there will be strange things going on. If you don't want to reinstall the game, you can always do a repair which will restore only the updated files to their original versions.
