kunit1
Hi, I keep getting the same performance on any settings. Putting the game on the lowest possible settings and putting on high give the same exact frame rate. System specs: Win xp RAM: 2GB CPU: C2D @ 2.3 GHz Gfx: 4870 1GB I also get random stuttering. During gameplay I get 31 to 25 FPS when driving and 28 when walking. It's really strange that I keep getting those frames no matter what I settings I play at. Any ideas would be appreciated. GM965_X3100
memory leakage.......while resolution etc are reduced, memory leakage inopportunely accounts for performance frames, whereas incrementing settings effect reducing frames, with respect to hardware limitation; it's similar to how the economy works, savings and consumer spending are injections to the economy. Should persons spend less, and save more, yes there is less spending to GDP, but the increased spending nullifies that reduction in consumer spending...... so there is no real change in the economy...same with your game.... TO override this issue economists would have to implement means to engender more spending in the economy. In the same way, You would be required to update your system dramatically before real change in fps may occur!!!! KnightProwl
omg, i have the same problem, which is one reason i uninstalled it :S, im reinstalling it now, without mods, and the 1.0.3.0 patch, and same thing happends to me, i use it on loest setting for everything, auto, ect, same thing, i usually get 20-30 fps, sometimes lower, sometimes higher, like if i drive fast, or do something too quickly, it slows down and lags, from time to time, usually it would stay no lower then 15 fps, and no highr then 35 fps, like, ill be driving a car, turismo for example, its doing good for awile, then out of no wheere, it goes down to 10 fps or less, then goes back to normal, then 10 fps again, ect, its really annyoing, and pisses me off, lol, if anyone knos how to fix this problem, whatever it may be, plz tell us, or give a link to a topic or something to fix this, here are my specs below, anyone to help should plz, anyways ill ttyl, plz help us plp who cant do this stuff, we noobies , anyways, thanks and peace KP my specs: win xp pro ram: 3gb cpu: 1.86ghz gfx: nivida geforce 7900 gs 256mb
supermortalhuman
The game sorta runs a little differently than other games. It's designed to sort of run at a steady pace and instead of slow down for rendering things, it just ommits them "until they finish loading". So, it makes sense really but I'm sure that though it performs the same, you are getting better loading times (in game pop-in) when you use less of your system resources (but you might not see the difference since at low resolutions you can't "see" far, or rather, can't see detail in far places. mkey82
The game isn't made for low end machine performance and thus low end settings get you nowhere. You have loads of VRAM on that card, so keep the settings on highest that gives you smooth framerate with minimum of stalling and pop-up. Also, keep high textures as the game as game performs better with them. Adjust view distance to match your screen res. For 1680x1050 don't go above 30-35. Girish
In addition to what the people above me have said, if you do not wish to upgrade soon, then consider overclocking your processor and if possible, add another 2 gigs of RAM. You'll notice a considerable increase in performance.
nicotin3
Its the same for me, 20/30 fps on average, despite having a decent graphics card and plenty ram the graphics settings make little diference in fps, its a CPU bottleneck. I think the game really needs a quad or a really strong dual core to score good fps.
mkey82
DDR3 also helps a lot.

I'm thinking they thread the AI, which may explain why it's much smoother on a Quad-core.
YoungGun
I notice this too with the resolution. 800*600 vs 1680*1050 and almost no different in FPS...

Gorbachev
Tweak and optimize your system. Especially if it's Vista or 7 as these are the most burdensome. Your CPU is probably being bottle necked because your OS and the various junk you fail to tweak is still running. I have a WEAK (AMD 3800+) computer and I get 30fps at 1680:1050 with textures at max and 20 view distance and 30 detail.
