CM_Kimmy
Right Ok i have a really big problem... I installed GTA IV after buying it knowing that my PC was to the minimum requirements, although the game wont play properly. Like i can understand that the game might not look that good graphically because of the specs on my PC but surely it shouldnt look as bad as this (See screens 1 and 2) I meet the requirements MY SPECS Edited September 27, 2009 by CM_Kimmy
Girish
That doesn't tell us anything about your system. Please post your full system specifications. Just barely meeting the minimum requirements is not always enough for this game, btw.

mkey82
This http://community.spiceworks.com/product/2248 ? That's probably some sort of integrated graphics. Try installing the GPU drivers from manufacturer. Also, update the game to 1.0.4.0 if you haven't already. Don't believe too much those system requirements, that machine is slow for GTAIV. supermortalhuman
Yea, what video card do you have? We need to know your video card, as this is a video memory and bandwidth bug. Your system is FINE otherwise for medium to high/vhigh settings on every setting - perfectly able, just make sure your video card is up to par (like, you do need a good video solution, and we need to know the model)
mkey82
High settings on 2GB RAM and 1,86GHz dualcore?
Garfield 2
Is that a Dell XPS M2010? That's what came up when I looked up Dell DXP061 - I have that with 2Ghz, 4GB RAM and ATI X1800 - I get 21fps average on low. I never have seemed to have that problem though. Try to install Patch 1.0.4.0 //edit: His GFX is Card name: 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc. Chip type: Radeon X1300 Series (0x7183) NO WAY you can enjoy the game on this
supermortalhuman
On topic: Upgrade to a 3850 (4850 is the next one up, 3850 is better than 4650 etc) or better and you will be happy off: High settings on 2GB RAM and 1,86GHz dualcore? well, this runs very well on my system except for the occasional stutter. NO pop in, etc, just zone stuttering here and there ( a brief pause, then back to [serious] business as usual) I get about 30fps give or take and 60 fps on the beach: The next res up is actually 1680x1050, I prefer to lose 80px horizontally for the extra 200 vertically. Runs smoother on these two settings than any lower ones. I can run the texture filter and water on very high but it's pointless because BOTH look like sh*t... Medium is the BEST filter settings for medium tex at least (use far-away alpha fences etc to see what I mean), and medium is the BEST water setting for this resolution, basically: Radeon HD 3850, 512mb Edited September 28, 2009 by supermortalhuman

supermortalhuman
Oh, it's a laptop? (which in most cases, are upgradable...) Ok, simple: Laptops are Not supported by Rockstar Games, nor are they for gaming. (the point is argued, alienware sells them, etc, but still, they are not for gaming) Oh, and, it's not a laptop anyway.
mkey82
It's a laptop http://community.spiceworks.com/product/2248 And upgrading laptops is so unprofitable (past RAM and HDD upgrades) you would really need a GOOD reason to do it.
