Oskario
Im getting fps drop downs like every 5 minutes. I have like 40 fps average when I play, but every 5 minutes it drops to like 15fps in like 20 sec, then it goes back up again. Its completly random aswell. What can I do to make it run smooth without drop downs? Edited September 27, 2009 by Oskario
Garfield 2
Your GFX overheats for some reason - I've the same problem and only with GTA IV.

Girish
What settings are you running the game at? Post your benchmarking result. Make sure you don't exceed the available resource limit. Also, try the -memrestrict command as suggested in this topic. Tried changing video drivers?
Oskario
I have tried the Gta 4 beta nvidia drivers, but not with the latest patch. Girish
Try lowering the resolution and see if it makes a difference and also try the -memrestrict command as I suggested. Also, try some of the older driver versions with the latest patch. It might help.
Oskario
Basicly I just make a commandline that says memrestrict and the numbers?
David.
Basicly I just make a commandline that says memrestrict and the numbers? yes,try them depending on your texture settings.Since you are on medium textures. try -memrestrict 262144000 first keep going on higher, until stuttering takes place. Oh and this not a complete fix,it only worked for some people.
Oskario
Tried the first numbers, didnt help. Ehm, whats stuttering (struttering?)? ^^
mkey82
Stuttering is momentary loss of FPS that can bring the game to a complete stall. GTAIV is very much affected by this phenomena.

Garfield 2
It's GFX overheating people. Check your temperatures when the FPS drop starts...
Oskario
How do i check my gpu/cpu temperature? Could u please send a link to a program for cpu and/or gpu temperature?
mkey82
I don't think it's a temp problem. You can use Everest or Riva tuner to monitor temps. This usually is an OS problem. You can always try to reinstall drivers, but clean with driver sweeper first.
Lodis
Download and run HWMonitor 114, run it during playing GTA IV and afterward check the GPU temps.
Oskario
I emailed a support guy about the problem, hope he has the answer. I send my dxdiag results, and he wanted the msinfo aswell.
