How far do you think you will be able to snipe people with it. Will it zoom in 3 times or 4 times. Will it have red lazer scope

Check the Weazel News trailer and you'll notice what kind of 'scope'/'aiming recticule' it has.

 

My guess it that it'll be somewhat the same as the previous snipers. Same zoom, only perhaps more accurate and effective at a greater range?

I don't know, looks way cooler tho'. Anyways, I'm not too excited, 'cause snipin' ain't never been my number one hobby in GTA's.

Same, atleast not for free roaming, it is fun shooting the pilots of the heli's and watch it crash smile.gif

 

But missions with snipers are always awesome!

C'mon man, thats the Walther WA2000, Agent 47's sniper rifle of choice cool.gif

 

It will depend upon its caliber, 308 Winchester or 300 Winchester Magnum

 

BTW there are only 176 total WA2000s in the WORLD

I hate sniper rifles

when it comes to every shooting game, be it Halo, call of duty, or Metal gear solid

Everyone has a hard on for the sniper rifle.

 

I would rather stick with my assault rifle

My bad dude, should have looked carefully instead of assuming that all bullpup sniper rifles are WA2000

 

Generally the DSR-1 is pretty 'obscure' to say the least in the mainstream gaming community

 

The pistol grip and the dual magazines give it away

It doesn't matter if it zooms in X1000 times, peds only spawn so far away from you. 3X is definitely the limit before it's redundant.

why is everyone saying it's semi-automatic? of course it is. who's heard of a fully automatic sniper rifle? and i don't' mean a fully automatic assault rifle with a scope.

Still think the new sniper is useless compared to what else they could of added. A rocket launcher that doesn't sometimes swirl completely past where u shot maybe? sigh.gif

A rocket propelling past it's target is a result of poor aiming... the trigger for the explosive on an RPG is at the tip, so it needs to hit a solid object. When it goes undernieth a car or bounces off a wall (aside from being an amazingly accurate detail in the game) just means that you've aimed it at too much of an angle.

 

On topic. I'm still a little dissapointed with the decission to add a new sniper rifle... I felt the combat sniper worked fine for the amount of time it's required, and I personally don't find myself using it much in freeroam. I was hoping for a few more melee weapons, but it really comes down the the characteristics of the protagonist and weapons that suit the story.

 

There must be a need for this kind of weapon, so there will obviously be more sniper based missions in this episode... plus I think we'll be spending alot more time up on roofs anyway (parachute).

What you said plus rockets CAN be shot off course. I've seen it quite a few times in death matches

The DSR-1 is bolt action, not semi auto, unless you somehow convert it

 

Also another question that pops up is Luis' background, is he a dishonorably released ex-army / special forces guy with some 'inside' source who sells him such advanced weapons for a criminal ? (Much like Phil Cassidy of Vice City)
