dxk
Its and everyday thing if you live in a country with 26 languages! If you love a song that you never understood, thats purely because the rhythm and voice. One more example that music has no boundaries. Try this song tell me what you think: Also post the Songs that you've heard and loved! Edited September 27, 2009 by dxk
Clem Fandango
Only examples I can think of are anime theme songs I dug enough to put on my iPod: Fullmetal Alchemist Ending Theme 2 InuYasha Ending 7 (youtube embeding didn't work for the above two) Though I'm not sure I'd enjoy those songs as much if I didn't associate them with the shows, bar the Cowboy Bebop OST, I have the whole thing on my iPod and would love it either way. SIKKS66
I always like this track from the Scarface game. Also Yelle. Such an upbeat track. The first time I watched that movie I was studying Spanish in school so I could understand quite a bit of that song Always liked this, even though I've never bothered looking for a translation:
The-King
I love foreign music, it's a strange almost transcendent feeling hearing music in a completely foreign language yet understanding everything. Maye it's just me, but music in foreign languages often seems to have a more significant emotional impact than music with English lyrics. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|
ayushisrocking
@Dxk: Actually, at the least you can say that our country has 29languages, and at the most you can say several thousand.[from Wikipedia-- India's 2001 census]. Anyway, Since I'm a pure Akon fan, I just saw his fb post about a month back, where he posted a video in which he sang in FRENCH! Yup... La Sang Des Innocents- Hitlab Artist Pamela Feat. Akon: and yeah, it's a very touchy song
Tchuck
Yes, I love foreign music. Specially russian, italian, french, german.. Don't consider english foreign (I live in Brazil) because it's pretty much common here. Some examples: Georg Ots - Mister X Aria (In russian) Enrico Caruso - Core 'ngrato (In italian)
Don Garcia
Yeah, anime opening/closing tracks introduced me to foreign music. Specifically Japanese. Asian Kung-Fu Generation is the bee's knees. Here's the song used for Bleach's 7th opening. I heard it just last night on Adult Swim, put me in a good mood. And 2 other great ones from them. -
Clem Fandango
Asian Kung-Fu Generation is the bee's knees. Is that by Asian Kung Fu Generation? If so, I'll certainly check them out. And when I saw your name Don, I thought for sure you were going to post something from the Cowboy Bebop OST - The Seatbelts are outstanding. Don Garcia
Ah dude, Cowboy Bebop... Real Folk Blues, such a killer ending theme. And that intro, gives me goosebumps every time. Also, I don't even have to listen to that video Mel. I'm sure it's AKFG and the song is "Rewrite."
Stefan.
I listen to Serbian music a lot; it's not really foreign for me as I can understand what they're saying, but for everyone else it would be. A lot the modern music is the same, pretty much all the same genre (turbo-folk) but I always find the rhythm and beat very fast and upbeat, and I like annoying people by singinf along to it. Here's my favourite Serb song at the moment; it's actually quite old by him (from 2002) but I found out about it the other day when my friend gave it to me and I'm surprised that it wasn't a bigger hit from him in Yugoslavia when it was popular, 'cause now I can say that it's my favourite song by him. *MURDOC*
I also like a lot of anime music, which has gotten me into other Japanese acts. I love me some X-Japan, they sing some in english, but mostly Japanese, and they are f*cking awesome. Also, the Pillows have become one of my favorite bands, and I got to see them live! Excellent! Can't forget about videogames, this ones from Katamari Damacy, one of the strangest I've played. Edited October 5, 2009 by *MURDOC*

Don Garcia
What the hell, the awesome ending theme to Samurai Champloo. Good ass stuff. Ignore gay video, and just listen. Also, the last song that played in the show, great friggin' track too. Edited October 16, 2009 by Don Garcia
Chunk
I got into Russian music from Vladivostok FM in IV, and this was my favourite: Even though I don't understand a word, it's one good little song.
trip
While shopping for music I used to try and pick up a cassette of a band I never heard of. Well, back before CDs, the internet, and MP3s - when buying music might have been a different activity then it is today. I got home one day with these guys 'Toure Kunda' and was very happy with my random purchase. Even though I have no clue what they say it fits in with my taste for reggae and world music. copperwire93
Glad someone made this topic, I post a foreign song in rate the song above, but didn't get much appreciation. I personally love these songs. I don't understand both songs without translated lyrics, but I love their rhythm, really addicting and energetic.
