Quick question. Thinking about getting VC for my PS2 or PC, but I'm not sure which one to get. confused.gif

I'm ok with controls on PS2, but I don't usually play games on my PC, but I feel like doing so lately.

So yeah, is the PC version better or PS2?

well like every1 know the pc version is better. and u know once u have the pc version, u can always add or remove some contents and install mp mods and map mods. on the ps2 u only got less stuf then on the pc version.

That sounds pretty cool, but I'm awful with PC controls, so I'd probably have to get a PS2 to PC controller converter xD

I'd probably try to complete it without any mods at first, but if I did use mods, are they removeable after I'm done, or if I want it back to normal?

I'd say it's a tie. For 'PC gamers' who live by the keyboard and mouse, they find it perfect to play, but for people who want half decent controls, they'll have to do a bit of configuring to their liking. On the PC version it is nothing short of an annoyance not being able to pause it, as you can't map the pause button to anything but Esc on the keyboard (use joy2key to remap it!), and entering cheats also has to be done right on front of your screen, which is useless when you're playing 5ft away on the big screen - on the PS2, the cheats are naturally tied to the controller and can be much easier to get out (example, armor cheat: compare hitting four buttons and two anti-clockwise circles to 18 keys forming two words which have to be input perfectly in a short time, it isn't IDDQD!). Other than that, the gameplay is identical if you're in what they call 'classic mode' controls. However, it is easier to switch to using the mouse in 'standard controls', later called 'keyboard+mouse' for some strange reason (GTA:SA), on some of the more demanding missions, but personally I use a hybrid configuration of joystick and mouse. Using a keyboard in a game just doesn't feel right in anything but GTA1. The analog stick is a must-have for driving, riding and flying!

If you are in a PAL region, you will get a slight speed increase as the PC version runs at the NTSC frame rate (30fps/60hz). The frame rate is fixed to the game's timing, so turning off the limiter will make things go at random speeds depending on how fast your PC is (not recommended). That means if the game starts running at 80fps, it will be running in fast forward mode rather than smoother. The graphics may will also be better than the PS2 version since you can upscale the resolution; on the PS2 you're stuck with 640x480 (or 640x512 on the PAL version) due to console and TV limitations.

If you mean the best version NATIVELY, as in no mods or third-party software, then I'd have to say the Xbox, just because its port had an increase in car polygons and the tires were changed. The graphics look better than the PS2 or the PC version. 2nd place would be the PC, then PS2 for third.

But if you want to play mods and stuff, which really enhances the VC experience then get it for the computer.

and if you rank it by which you got to play it on first-- PS2 wins hands down wink.gif

The PS2 version also has the 'analog' buttons so cars aren't controlled with either 6000rpm or stop! Can't do that on the PC even if you have a DualShock 2 plugged in.

Played GTA games both on PC and PS2 and didn't notice the difference between keyboard and joypad while driving (except "max speed" on bike). Same about flying.

Also PC version has MP3 tracks, higher resolution, mods, patches.

you can change that with a simple mod. PC version is the best, by a long shot.
