gamesguru
I love Reggae and Soul, very relaxing style of music, Jazz as well. Nothing like sitting on the porch in the evening, cold beverage, and listening to some relaxing tunes: I got loads of tunes I like, but I'll post this for now, as it was the first to pop in my head:
Vanilla Shake
Trip-hop my friends. This is one of my favorite songs to relax/get drunk/get high to. Hell, any Nightmares On Wax song is good for relaxation and being "calm". Nothing like sitting on a beach in Long Island with some beer, weed and newly acquainted friends with this song playing. Reggae's good for that as well. Peter Tosh, Eek-A-Mouse, Ziggy Marley, etc. All good for relaxism. TC718 / <629 / CF5
Punk-in-Drublic
Nothing like Trojan reggae, have a listen to this, it tends to calm me down, but relax me? im never relaxed, always bouncing around and sh*t. The Slickers Johnny too bad If you like this maybe you wanna try out some of this other skinhead/Trojan reggae here. Thats one of my favourite reggae comp albums. Slamman
Pink Floyd when I'm lying in bed, always a Win-win there. I mention what is classified as "new-age", I get a snarky look from you, but try Will Ackerman, George Winston, Alex DeGrassi, and Liz Story. I like them all, Windham Hill and other labels
Vanilla Shake
I also recommend G. Love & Special Sauce and Jack Johnson. TC718 / <629 / CF5
Gundog
I LOVE to listen to this track while smoking something or when I'm really tired or soared. Lyrics: We sail through endless skies Stars shine like eyes The black night sighs The moon in silver trees Falls down in tears Light of the night The earth, a purple blaze Of sapphire haze In orbit always While down below the trees Bathed in cool breeze Silver starlight breaks down the night And so we pass on by the crimson eye Of great God Mars As we travel the Universe Edited September 26, 2009 by Gundog You are an aperture through which the universe is looking at and exploring itself. Rhoda
It's not really worth me posting many YouTube videos, but one group I know called Stars Of The Lid do some amazing ambient work. Their songs can top 10 minutes, but it's fantastic beatless material. Their albums usually come in two parts because the songs can often be so long, but it's so worth it to stick some of them on and just doze. Another artist I know is a man that goes by the name of Death Cube K (an alter-ego of Buckethead) and he produces some dark ambient that is so soothing it's scary. It feels like it shouldn't be such easy listening but it's very haunting. He hasn't released nearly as much material as he has as Buckethead but it's still great. rubba_dukie
H72-4idYFug I LOVE to listen to this track while smoking something or when I'm really tired or soared. Yeah definitely one of my all time favourite chill out songs along with Solitude. Sabbath have a great mix of heavy songs with really chilled out ones. ryuclan
Anything by Atmosphere especially "God's Bathroom Floor" "Ode to the Modern Man" sh*t pretty much all their songs. Another one that's weird is Emotions by Daft Punk.

anus
Nothing like DJ Screw for chilling or when you're tripping: Awesome sh*t when you're high.
Xeon
A lot of Buckethead's instrumentals can be quite relaxing. The one that springs to mind is Blue Marbles Moon from Volume 2 of his In Search of The collection. I usually prefer instrumentals when I feel like relaxing, but some Azure Ray can also be rather calming:
Rhoda
Good call on Buckethead. A lot of the work on In Search Of The can be quite peaceful. In terms of whole albums, Colma and Electric Tears are amazing to me.

Xeon
I've been listening to a lot of Nick Drake of late, and I have to say a lot of it is quite relaxing. AlexGTAGamer
The songs that calm me are very different from the songs posted here. Smooth Jazz, Classical music, and others always work for me. Just a few that calm me, though my list is almost endless.

trip
You want calm down songs? I have lived on calm down songs most of my life. I happen to live at the epicenter of folks music - both world and continental. How about my favorite? Maddy Prior. I could have gone with her and Steeleye(my favorite), but I picked this one. Maybe some beautiful Pentangle? Maybe some John Renbourne? *Edited in side note: I play this song on both my guitar and banjo, and I happen to have a good friend named Frank. Every time I play this it kind of is for him. Well, at least I always think about him when playing. Richard and Mimi Farina. Like I said - I live in the epicenter of folk. I was with Richard and Mimi for their very last(very emotional)show. It was such an intimate event that I was drinking wine and eating sponge cake with them during the breaks. *make me proud. Listen to this song and look out for your fellow brothers and sisters. Another edit: I wanted to find a good version of Jerry doing Peggy-O and I came across this one towards the top of my search. I was at this show. Edited February 16, 2012 by trip My crappy games at MyCrappyGames.com Free copy of Save The Puppies and Kittens
