skinduptruk
hi all, my email to support: Game is patched up 1040. Game used to work with my Nvidia 8600GT 256mb, although not at 1920 x 1080 with my new card as attached, i have observed the following: - can load game and stand indoors indefinitely - can enter street scene and not move ok as well - once i move much it will freeze after about 10sec to 1 min EVERY time the failure will be: - freezing in game (reset req) - black screen (can alt tab and close) - resc 10 error (out of video memory, most common). i have a 1gb card so i presume this error is not correct anyway. then the game will not restart due to d3d error, req restart. I have tried ati CCC version 9.8, 9.7, 8.12, and now have new version 9.9. all no help. i have tried commandline.txt with memrestrict of 100 thru 1000MB, noprefillcache, and availablememsize. am now trying the game in safemode to see if i can isolate a problem graphics setting. I'd love to know if there is something I can try for my new card! If possible please put me in touch with a technical staff member to try out some options. the reply: try a virtual memory increase (i increased from 2gb to 8gb but that didn't help) THEN Could you please try and set the ATI catalyst centre to application controlled. You can make this change in the settings from within the control panel of the catalyst centre. This should prevent the catalyst centre to try and use options the game will not accept. ******* well this actually worked! i'm using ASUS latest driver ATI CCC 2009.0718.2131.36814 and I unticked the 3d standard settings "use custom settings" where the tooltip says "overrides the standard 3d settings of a game or app", everything else was already app controlled, and I tell ya it worked!!! not a problem since! yay! i will try the latest ATI CCC generic now, and see if that still works i'm on a mid range PC so i don't expect to max out settings but i can now play at 1920 x 1080 on my new 24' LCD so i'm still pretty happy with that - finally found the damn problem!!! thanks to "Kim" at take2 support!!! Girish
I have a Sapphire HD 4850 and for me, the option is already unchecked and the bar lies in the middle at 'Balanced'. I have had absolutely no issues with any game so far and I never had to fiddle with any of the CCC settings. Girish
haha, silly typo. I generally re-read all my posts before hitting the submit button; wonder how I missed that.

You did good, we need all the good info we can find posted here. girishb, why not use a spellchecker? Although, it won't correct the "8450" errors XD
Girish
are you using ATI generic CCC eg 9.9 or the Sapphire drivers? I'm using the 9.6 driver, but they're not Sapphire specific. I download my drivers off AMD's site like everyone else. Try changing the bar from 'Optimal Performance' to 'Balanced'. Tell us if you notice any difference. girishb, why not use a spellchecker? Although, it won't correct the "8450" errors XD I do have a spellchecker but I have the habit of reading what I've typed just to make sure there are no grammatical errors that no spell checker would ever pick up.
