TheAnt1987
I've installed it, uninstalled it, and reinstalled it countless times over several months now and I always get the same thing: The installation seems to always go smoothly. It successfully checks the release date (wha?). It installs a bunch of stuff I already have like Direct X. Social Club installs as well, and even runs. When I press "play" absolutely nothing happens other than Social Club minimizing. I've tried most of the patches that have come out as they came out, including the recent patch that contains all of them. Sadly the game has never started. I have 4 gigs of RAM, XP with Service Pack 3, NVidia Geforce 8800 GTX, framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, and 3.5 SP1, and way more than enough space on both of my hard drives. When I go to the folder it installed to, none of the applications files work, and only GTAIV.exe brings up any error: GTAIV.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. So far the only thing this game has done is be a paper weight. It won't even start.
mkey82
Update the game manually, drop xliveless in the install dir and try running the game with launchiv.exe.
Girish
When you click on PLAY in RGSC, open up Windows Task Manager (by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del), go to Processes and check if there are processes called "LaunchGTAIV.exe" and "GTAIV.exe" running. If yes, right-click on them and try changing their priority to 'High'. If still no dice, then try what mkey82 has suggested.
TheAnt1987
A few hours after posting I try reinstalling the thing one last time. 9001'st time's a charm huh? The thing works perfectly for no reason. I've been trying the exact same thing for months and it finally works? Mods you can close this thread. I also forgot to update it again so I hope the update doesn't screw up the game. Edited September 25, 2009 by TheAnt1987
