unopescio
f*ck me sony has finally figured out pricing. If only they had done this when they first released it they'd be rolling in money now.

ghost of delete key
What is more pathetic 1) this service is actually offered 2) people buy it ? I raffed, I rost. Better to have a VW with a Geek pull up in front of your house than a couple of pushy Japanes guys who want to play with you. And what, they should go to your house for free? I agree it's expensive, but you deserve to have to pay that much if you can't set up a PS3. I mean, hell if you don't know, just read the directions. Mark
We offer this at work for £39, albeit we also sort out every piece of AV equipment you have at the same time. I'm not shocked that they offer it, I'm shocked at the price!
Exkabewbikadid
What sort of moron couldn't setup their own PS3? In this day with HDTVs we're talking one HDMI connection and one power connection. Of course BB will try to sell you their Monster Cable brand HDMI cable at 8 times the cost of what you'd pay for one off of newegg as well. Runey
Genius. Pure f*cking genius. Exactly, if someone was willing to pay you $130 to set up a PS3, I'm sure everyone here would pounce on it.
major underscore
If someone is willing to buy it, why not? Is the price right? The customers will let them know through their buying decisions. Maybe it could be even higher and still sell as much. Depends on the local market. TEoS
This just shows you how lazy society is becoming. In my day, we went out on the street to find geeks to beat up and give wedgies. Now people go out and buy PS3s and pay $130 to have them come to their house. They're missing the entire point. Where's the sport in that? No wonder the world is going to sh*t. *MURDOC*
When I couldnt get an external drive dock to work with my computer, they offered $80 to come out and get it working, the dock cost $30. I called someone I knew and got it working in minutes. Or maybe I got help from here.
geomy
This doesn't surprise me in the least; the Geek Squad has always been ridiculously overpriced. It does surprise me that someone would pay that much for this service. How long does it take to hook up a console...2 minutes? That's like $4000/hr. Mike Tequeli
For a second I wasn't really paying attention and I saw PS3s for 129.99. It's really funny though, I guess it would be economic Darwinism, anybody who buys this doesn't deserve their money. I could see this sh*t working on things that older people would buy, but I find it hard to believe that anybody 35 or under would be unable to install a PS3. CharmingCharlie
Ok can we get back on topic and ignore Moonshield I have sanctioned him appropriately for that bit of childishness so there is no need to "highlight" his immaturity. GTASIX
Its not even hard. Its easier than setting up a PC. Its literally a case of tapping the X button and typing your name in. And im pretty sure everything is covered in the instruction manual anyway. Must be some kind of mistake.
Creed Bratton
I think Sony folks said something like this: "Well, people payed for the overpriced console, so they'll pay for this too. At least someone will."
Guns N R0se
hahaha! That's hilarious. I say go Sony, anyone dumb enough to pay for that service is asking for it. Granted, I don't have a PS3 but I had a PS2 and it can't possibly be worth money to set up.
Wolfenz
Haha. PS3's are really piss easy to install. I mean it's not like you've got to put the thing together, just put the cables in the right place.
LanceVanceDance07
What the f*ck is this. Only idiots will buy this geek squad installation sh*t. Best Buy think their customers are idiots.
M. H. Hunter III
Honestly how can anyone pay for that service, furthermore where did they get the ~$130 from. It's not like it's that hard to do, anyone with even basic knowledge can easily do this. Ah, I agree with mike on this one, if they pay for a service like this, they shouldn't have the money in the first place. 3minty3
For an extra $50 I will even turn it on for you. So for half the price of the ps3 they will spend 2 minutes connecting the cables?
Moth
Geek Squad is over priced. I am thankful for Future Shop, even though they are the same company since Best Buy bought it, they still are cheaper all of the install stuff. Best Buy wanted to $200 to get raid of some virus while Future Shop said around $50. But I still didn't pay for it since I did it myself Formerly known as The General
