The Official Updates to Liberty City Thread

So as some of us may know since the announcement of The Ballad of Gay Tony there have been a few updates when you load up GTAIV.

 

Some of us have deciphered that there are updates to Liberty City. New signs, new pedestrians, that sort of thing. I decided we should have a thread listing what certain people have found. I will update this post as much as I can with new info.

 

Off the top of my head I can think of.

 

Additions:

 

-A new 'Liberty City Swingers' sign above the south-west Bowling Alley in Algonquin. NOTE: This is only updated in Niko's story, and not in Johnnys for some reason. (I also noted that the Lost Clubhouse is still the old version in Niko's game. Quite odd.)

 

-New pedestrians in the Northwood. Including new ND3 members.

 

-New cops and Albanians in Alderney.

 

-New graffiti in certain areas, mostly Algonquin.

 

-The buildings and adverts in Star Junction seem to be changing. The 'Meet Yusif Amir' video seems to show new adverts as well not seen in previous editions of GTAIV.

 

 

Bugs/Errors:

 

-If you pull into the back alleyway of Bahama Mamas, the one thats south, your car will float above the ground. Perhaps there is going to be a new alleyway in BOGT, with pavement or a garage or something and they didn't add the texture?

 

Newest Update: September 23rd, today, I just turned on my game and there was an update. Haven't found anything new yet.

the cops have been reskinned again, for bogt.

 

Close to the end of the weazel news vid, the 2 cops that were putting the construction worker in the squad car were diffrent. One of them was bald.

 

Where did you found out the albanians moved to alderney?

 

When playing as niko, everything looks to have stayed the same. IDKY it would be diffrent for you though.

I pieced half of this together from other threads where people have mentioned it (leelee was one of the people who noticed most of it), and the other half from what I experienced myself.

 

I think that Money Over Bullsh*t said something about the Albanians, but I could've read it wrong.

That's good of you man, i found some sh*t out tonight by listening-in on the convos of others. You may be onto something man. We could be seeing the albos gain turf in alderney.

 

Also, you said you saw ND3 members, how would you describe them? The shady type drug fiends that wear baggy clothing and hoody jackets in northwood, or the guys that wear letterman jackets and ballcap hats?

 

Reason i ask cause both are in northwood, big diffrence is however the druggys will fight back if provoked but the lettermans seem to run away if you push or punch them in the face.

 

keep up the goodwork on the list, it seems promising.

They should update Jim in Niko's game. It shouldn't be that hard to replace the bald guy with his real model.

I checked out when you originally said that the cop was bald libs, but he actually has short very pale hair. Edit the Saturation, Contrast & Brightness of the pic, and you will see he has hair:

 

 

I presume you mean this screen. The first shot of cops who are actually putting a construction worker in a car is near the start. The construction worker I presume is an undercover cop. There is a bald cop in this scene (the black cop), but he is already in the game. In addition to this, that's not a construction worker in the back of the car near the ends, he's some sort of mechanic if anything.

 

Something I spotted is in Star Junction: The most northern building (the one with part of a rear end of a car sticking out the front of the building, I believe the right side of the building (the only part f the building I checked) has been modernized. It might just be a bad memory though, I'm not sure. It looked different to me, but it's probably just the same as always. Although there might be some small edits in Star Junction somewhere.

I read in another thread about new peds, and I went to check myself and there seem to be some new ones.

 

I saw a few guys with new lettermen jackets that I haven't seen previously, and a few guys carrying weapons but I forget exactly what they looked like. Go check them out yourself, tell me what you find.

 

 

I updated the top piece with the info on Star Junction. It does seem to be changing a bit, and new things seem to be popping up in the new trailers coming out as well.

The guys in the letterman jackets, are a set in the spanish lords found on spanishlords turfs. You probly were in east holland(which is not that far from northwood) when you seen the letterman jacket spanish lords, and yes they do carry weapons 9mms and uzis to be exact.

 

I don't get why R* would be updating new content into GTA4 when bogt is coming out next month along with EFLC.

They update Liberty City to get ready for The Ballad of Gay Tony, and also allow it to become fresh and new for players who continously play the game.

 

They update billboards, add new grafitti, and add new pedestrian to keep it alive.

 

They also add small sections of information, to my knowledge, to allow the final Ballad of Gay Tony file to not be as big. And easier to download.

 

Regardless, I want this thread to be about new things you've found recently, not a 'why r r* do dis' thread, please.

Star Junction is slowly changing.

 

As you can see in the Yusif Amir video it's going to be changing a LOT.

 

But they're slowing adding new things to it at the moment.

I wish that it could never stop and LC keeps getting updated and then R* added on to that and then eventually added back vice city and san andreas and then made it where all stores, weapons, vehicles, gangs, cheats, cloths, etc from all other GTA games were all back in GTA4. I would love that sh*t! would never stop playing until GTA5 came out.

Was there always a window into Hoop City (Pier 69, north of the bowling alley) on the north side of the building? You can only see blue hell and through the front of the building, but it's a glitch I'm almost sure wasn't there before, and I don't see it mentioned anywhere else on this site.

I think anyone who thinks they've found a change should take a picture, even a bad photo of your TV, of what they think is new, best something always there like a new sign or billboard, then.... To prove it's a change disconnect the Ethernet cable and delete all GTA data from memory and load the game from disc and take a pic of the same place, now all updates are gone. 100% proof either way.

guys last night okay i was on gta iv.and i was just driving about bored.but then when i died outside the northwood hospital i got in a car again.then weazel news came on the radio and it said.

recently there has been a train hijacking in broker to dukes.people were shocked to see a train lifted by a helicopter.

so iv heard this mission before thats gonna be in tbogt.i swear this is no joke.id record it if i could.

 

it also started talking about weather and it said something about a tornado is coming towards liberty city.please be prepared to be sucked away and dropped onto a space monkey arcade machine.dunno why it says that part.

You will see a large golf sign for the 'Liberty City Swingers'

 

Now load up your save file as Johnny, and go to that exact same place. The new sign isn't there.

Any changes to the spray shops then? If so it might give clues as to the possible inclusion of vehicle customisation in BOGT.

Yes, of course there`s loads of changes between IV and TLAD, but I thought this topic was about changes between IV and updated IV.

It is about updated IV and that sign was just added. But they didn't add it to Johnny's story.

 

 

The sign is there to confirm, basically, a golfing minigame since its right next to the golf area. At least thats my two cents.

I've been dora the exploring around niko's story, and i see no diffrence in his original story, but the peds and certain areas are unlocked then in [email protected] where lots of new peds were changed and more areas are locked.

 

Is it an update you have to get to see these new changes, cause i'm not seeing them.

 

I do believe things are changed though, and i would like to see this thread stay updated.

Are you always connected to XBox Live? Do you get random 'A new update has been released for this game. Would you like to install? yes/no' windows that pop up?

 

Those are the updates.

 

 

I know there was a LOT of people discussing these updates and seeing new things but nobody has come to this thread. They need to post more stuff they found, I can only spot so many things myself.

I don't know if this is "New" but I noticed some of the Russian gangsters were using Black Lanstalkers as their gang vehicle (saved the car), but I looked online and noticed it isn't listed as one of their gang vehicles only the Black Shafter and the Black Rebla.
