X2P
Well I have done a forum search, tried every solution from there and on google. What platform: PC • What version number of GTA: SA 1.0 • What CPU and its speed: Intel C2D P8700 @ 2.53 Ghz • How much RAM, also what kind : 4GB 204 pin SODIMM DDRIII 1066mhz • What video card: Nvidia GTX 260m • Which version of Windows: Vista Enterprise SP2 X64 • Which DirectX version: 9/10 default vista • What sound card: integrated (Realtek) • History: Is this your first install? Did it work once before? Anything that is relevant. First install worked then suddenly quit working after that I havent gotten it to go again. "gta_sa.exe has stopped working" I have tried no cd fixes, reinstalling, reinstalling in my documents, setting affinity to single cpu, running in compatibility mode (XP/ME/98), Deleting any GTA user files\registry and re installing etc EDIT: This occurs right before the first menu, initially It happened when loading a new or saved game Edited September 24, 2009 by X2P
Girish
Follow these steps to reinstall the game: 1) Uninstall SA. 2) Delete the installation folder if it still exists. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 3) Delete the Virtual Store copy of the installation folder too. The Appdata folder might be hidden. (e.g. C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 4) Delete the gta_sa.set file from your user files folder. 5) Reboot. 6) Reinstall SA. If the issue persists, run the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode.
Ryan
• How much RAM, also what kind : 4GB 204 pin SODIMM DDRIII 1066mhz Just an FYI for you. You have DDR2 RAM. Not DDR3 RAM like you posted. Intel's Core 2 series (Duo's and Quads) only run on DDR2. On topic... Do you have any mods installed? If so, follow the instructions that girishb gave you. Those are two independent entities and are totally dependent on your motherboard specifications. Motherboards with a LGA775 socket (required for Intel Core 2 processors) and DDR3 RAM support have been in the markets for as long as 3 years now. Maybe these type of boards do exist, but everything I've read, and all the LGA 775 Mobo's I've looked at say they only support DDR2. Actually, in some cases the type of processor does dictate what type of RAM your system needs. The Intel Core i7 will only take DDR3 RAM.
Girish
That's because the i7 family of processors have IMC. This is not the case with the Core2 processors or any other Intel processor for that matter. All processors, other than the i7 family, can work with any type of RAM provided the motherboard supports it.
