Oh yeah, should have looked carefully, the pistol grip and the dual magazines gives it away

Anyways a puny bodyguard does not have the class to get his hands on the WA2000, its only for Agent 47 tounge2.gif

(I'm kidding ... DSR-1 is the sniper rifle of choice for the german counter terrorist unit, GSG 9 .... yeah the same guys from Counter Strike biggrin.gif )

sticky bomb! endless possibilities! i'm so tired of only being able to get a bomb from packie. you have to wait a day or so until he feels like giving you another one.

Originally the AA-12 shotgun, but after seeing some gameplay vids with it and seeing how slow it shoots I'ma go with the M-249 SAW. If they could've got the firing speed of the AA-12 between the Combat Shotgun and the Street Sweeper, it would've been the perfect weapon, but who knows I'll find out Thursday.

Certainly the AA-12, my good sir.

Called the "Explosive Shotgun" in game, a gigantic misnomer, the name given to it most likely originated from the fact that the shotgun was chosen to truly demonstrate Fragmentation Shotgun Shells on the abomination of a show known as "Future Weapons".

The AA-12's true name is, as of now, the Atchisson Assault Shotgun.

Originally developed in 1972 by Maxwell Atchisson, the initial design fueled developments of other semiautomatic and automatic shotguns such as the USAS-12.

The key selling point of this weapon is it's ability for selective fire, specifically Semiautomatic and Automatic, along with it's said to be extreme reliability, Military Police Systems stating that the weapon requires no lubrication or cleaning, the manufacturer stating that these may be required after a staggering 10,000 rounds.

Said to be the Avtomat Kalashnikov of shotguns, only time will tell.

Pictures of the gun below.

Firing:

Loaded with a box magazine instead of the drum variant that will be used in-game

And the shell that it will most likely only fire within the game, note the stabilizing fins, these are said to drastically improve the effective range of ANY shotgun.

It's actually a dedicated marksman rifle rather than a sniper rifle, but for the purposes of the game I don't suppose that particularly matters.

But what about the minigun? Why isn't that back? I prefer that over the bloody M249 anytime.

ugh sa fans whatsthat.gif jk but really get real!

The minigun is not limited to SA only, mate. It is in LCS and VCS as well. So why R* abandoned it over the M249? The SAW is way less powerful to the minigun. 900 rpm, pew, the minigun can shoot way faster than that!

Because Luis Lopez is not Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I was looking forward to a .44 magnum revolver but we got a reskinned Deagle with a damage upgrade.

I'm looking forward to the Atchisson Assault Shotgun with FRAG-12 rounds. Shotguns have always been my favorite guns in most games and the Assault Shotgun in TLAD was amazing. The LCPD are f*cked in 4 1/2 days.

We can change out the shells in the game. In some screens Luis has it armed with red shells, the explosive ones are green.

It is a designated marksman rifle

Dude, DMRs are basically battle-rifles like M14, HK G3, SIG 550 etc fitted with a scope, equipped with stabilizers, semi-automatic and firing mach-grade ammunition

The marksmen are attached to their own squad and their purpose is to give the unit a range advantage of around 200 - 300 meters (effective range 700m) over assault rifle wielding foot soldiers. Check marines using M14s.

On the other hand Snipers work alone or with an spotter and can have an effective range much greater than 1000 meters (Can reach 2000 m with those .50 BMG rifles).

The DSR-1 is a pure bolt-action sniper rifle ...

Maybe you won't believe me

From wikipedia

The DSR 1 is a compact bolt-action rifle designed, manufactured and marketed by the German company DSR-precision GmbH and was (until 2004) marketed also by the German company AMP Technical Services as a specialized sniper rifle for police sharpshooters. It has been adopted by the German GSG 9 counter-terrorist unit, as well as by other European special police units and agencies.

DMRs

As the DM role fills the gap between a regular infantryman and a sniper, the so-called designated marksman rifles (DMRs) are also designed with this middle ground in mind. These rifles have to be effective—in terms of accuracy and terminal ballistics—at ranges exceeding those of assault rifles (typically up to 500 metres/550 yards or more), but do not require the extended range of a dedicated sniper rifle (typically up to 1,000 metres/1,100 yards or more).

[edit] Characteristics

Characteristics shared with sniper rifles:

    * Telescopic sight

Characteristics shared with assault rifles:

    * Semi-automatic fire capability, which is generally more rapid than bolt-action sniper rifles.

    * Larger magazine capacity of 10, 20, or 30 rounds.

The most common option is to modify an existing battle rifle or assault rifle with the addition of the following:

    * Telescopic sight

    * Bipod

    * Adjustable stock (adjustable cheek-piece aids in the use of a telescopic sight).

Battle rifle adaptation

M21 adaptation of M14

In this context, "battle rifles" refer to automatic rifles of 7.62 x 51 mm caliber such as the M14, FN FAL, HK417 or Heckler & Koch G3. These were replaced during the 1960s and 1970s by assault rifles using the less-powerful (but more controllable in full-automatic fire) 5.56 x 45 mm NATO cartridge such as the M16 and SA80.

These battle rifles are more suitable for adaptation to DM rifles than assault rifles for the sole reason of their more powerful cartridge.

Examples of battle rifle adaptations:

    * United States Army M21 adaptation of M14

    * United States Marine Corps Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) adaptation of M14

    * G3SG/1 variant of Heckler & Koch G3

Assault rifle adaptation

This is an easier and less-expensive option for many armies, because existing assault rifles can be adapted, often by merely adding a telescopic sight. These modified rifles retain the original chambering in the relatively less-powerful assault rifle cartridges, ensuring ammunition commonality within the squad.

Examples of assault rifle adaptations using the 5.56 x 45 mm NATO cartridge:

    * United States Army Squad Designated Marksman Rifle (SDM-R) adaptation of the M16

    * U.S. Marine Corps Squad Advanced Marksman Rifle (SAM-R) adaptation of the M16

    * M16A2E3 variant of M16.

    * United States Navy Mark 12 Mod X Special Purpose Rifle heavily-modified M16.

    * Marine Scout Sniper Rifle Modified M16 in use by the Philippine Marine Scout Snipers.

    * British Army L86A2 LSW - after the introduction of the FN Minimi as a section LMG it is now used as a DMR. It required no modification as the longer, heavier, free-floating barrel and existing optical sight give it the required accuracy.

    * Steyr AUG HBAR-T - a longer, heavier-barreled version of the AUG.

    * Canadian Forces C7CT and C8CT DM variants - modified Colt Canada C7A1/C8A1 series rifles and considered interim systems.

Examples of assault rifle adaptations using the 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge:

    * Tabuk Sniper Rifle adaptation of the RPK

A more effective (but more expensive) solution is to modify the assault rifle to use a more powerful cartridge with a heavier barrel and other components.

Examples of rechambered assault rifle adaptations:

    * Galatz Sniper Rifle (7.62 x 51 mm) variant of IMI Galil

    * SR-25, loosely based on Stoner AR-10

Purpose-built rifles

    * The SVD is one example of a rifle designed from the outset to meet the requirement now known as "designated marksman rifle".

    * The Dragunov SVU, a bullpup variant of the SVD.

    * The Romanian PSL is a designated marksman rifle based on a modified Kalashnikov action. It is similar in appearance to the Dragunov.

    * The Heckler & Koch HK417 rifle in the 508 mm (20.0 in) long barreled "sniper variant" is intended for designated marksman purposes.

    * The Chinese QBU-88 is a designated marksman rifle intended for aimed semi-automatic fire at ranges beyond the capabilities of standard infantry assault rifles.

    * The Yugoslavian Zastava M76 is a designated marksman rifle based on a modified Kalashnikov action. It is similar in appearance to the Dragunov and is designed for the 7.92 x 57 IS (8mm Mauser) chambering. It has also been chambered in 7.62×51 NATO and 7.62 × 54R for export.

    * The Serbian Zastava M91 is a designated marksman rifle based on a modified Kalashnikov action. It is similar in appearance to the Dragunov and is chambered in 7.62 × 54R.

All of the weapons look fun as hell.

But I see myself using the P90 the most.

It has a good sized clip, good accuracy, great mobility, and it's more realistic for a crazy guy to run around with...

I still laugh every time Niko pulls a Rocket Launcher out of his coat though...

You are correct; for some reason I was confusing the DSR with the M14 DMR.
