Do any of you have a solution to avoiding/disabling the 'An Update to Android is avaliable' message?

I don't really see why you wouldn't want to update anyway...

Aren't there still problems with the Lollipop update?

Nvidia Shield running Lollipop here and there hasn't been any problems.

You can disable notifications from individual apps by long-holding (hold down) the specific notification. The notification will change into the app name and icon (which generated the notification) and a little 'settings' and 'info' icon will appear. Tap on the info icon where you can set to block notifications from that particular app/service.

The alternative way is by going into the app manager and unticking 'Show notifications' in 'Google Player Services'

Look what I did yesterday:

0540c-bd56c4a7-881d-4b8f-9470-b5e3b8fbcd

I mean, f*ck Google

Android OS was sucking my battery constantly, the device couldn't enter into a Deep Sleep state.

"Oh, but you could have tried a Data Wipe, yadda yadda" f*ck THIS, I tried many solutions none worked, except this one

I got mad at the point I void my warranty, unlocked bootloader, got TWRP and flashed CM12

I don't regret doing it :)

The OPO isn't really that relevant now if you ask me. Especially when Asus has something just as cheap but more powerful.

True that. I was completely sold on the OPO until I heard about the Zenfone 2. The Dual SIM capability is also a big plus for me since my secondary SIM is just lying around without a phone. Also, the OPO invites are no longer hard to come by. I got two last week; didn't even bother giving them away.

Although I did coax two of my friends into buying the OPO. They will be mighty pissed when they find out I went for the Zenfone instead. :p

If the Zenphone experience is anything close to stock then I'm sold.

I've had my Nexus 4 for a while now and while it's pretty good, the battery is horse sh*t.

From what I've heard, the performance is buttery smooth and the bloatware isn't really a problem. And I've only heard good things about the ZenUI.

Also, Nexus 4 user here too! The battery has somewhat improved after the 5.1 update but it still sucks though.

Got my little bro a moto g and want to know how good is it? Better than most budget smartphone or no?

Nick, its pretty decent for a budget phone. If he's the type of person who uses a phone in emergencies then he should be fine. If he's like anyone else, downloading apps, making a lot of calls, then the battery capacity might slow him down. I'm not even sure what storage it uses, or if it takes a microSD, but you could get him that too if you want.

He doesn't really care. He gave my sister his phone that I gave him (an s4) that she cracked within a week. He said it's no different.

I like my Moto G Second Gen. So good choice. :)

After a few days with Moto G I'm impressed especially with its battery life (so far). My only gripe is how the boost mobile variant hasn't gotten an update yet.

I'm thinking of getting a Nexus 6 for my next phone later this year (November). I've also get my eye on the HTC Butterfly 3 as well.

Any particular reason why you'd get the Nexus 6? The LG G4 is about to be announced in like, four days.. From my experiences: their UI isn't sh*t like Samsung's. It's not resource heavy. Their products are usually built with style in mind. They're efficient.

Well Nexus is Google, so really quick updates guaranteed.

Then there's stock lollipop expierence (which I would simply root and flash) and since we mentioned that it's XDA community is huge.

And then on LG G4 you get a 2K screen? Lg G3 already had problems with battery life. So now your new phone will die even quicker. The 2k screen is just pointless. We have monitors for that.

I really don't understand why we need anything higher than 1080p on phones.

Manufacturers really, really need to nip the battery issue in the butt.

First manufacturer that can give 2 FULL days battery with quality specs will dominate the market.

No reason at all. It's just something...

Like I said I won't get a new phone until November, so I've got lots of time to make a decision. I'm just putting ideas on the table.

The Nexus 6 looks cool and I've never owned one. I'd go with the G4 if it isn't made of plastic or whatever the hell they use. Samsung can go f*ck themselves. HTC lost me with the M8; it's f*cking ugly. The M9 is no better. I'll wait for the Butterfly 3 to come out to see if it's a viable option.

What else does that leave?

Doesn't the Nexus 6 also have a 2K screen? Or at the very least 1440p? That reminds me I've gotta look up the battery life of these phones.

After 2 years my HTC One doesn't really hold a charge like it used to....actually I can't recall it ever holding a charge well...but those front facing speakers tho.

If you guys wanted phones with great battery life, you guys would have to accept less powerful devices.

More powerful devices should have Eco options or options to disable hardware like Nvidia did with the shield tab and it's one of the better devices (with a modern high end SOC) when it comes to battery life (and overall power) in GFXBench

No. In order to have a phone with great battery life, a company needs to add a big capacative battery within their phones in the first place. We should be moving forward, not being stuck in the same f*cking position or even worse, moving backwards. iPhones are the eptimome of sh*t battery life, and now Samsung reduced the capacity in their new phone compared to the S5 which is pure douchebagery.

We should be moving forward but the problem is that battery tech isn't. LIBs have been used commercially since the early 90's, if there was something better that was cost effective then trust me, it would be in a lot of phones already because battery life is a major selling point for a lot of people.

Also, reduced capacity =/= shorter battery life, it depends on the hardware and how it's used.
