mr_bungle
its still heading for New Zealand. Yeah but it's only going to get to the North-West of the North Island. It's not going to be like it is over there, so they said on the news, only the sky will be red. If you will be lucky enough to see it, considering the North Island at the moment is covered by a sh*tload of rain clouds.

Jay
Australia is trying to censor the internet. One member of the Australian Government is trying to introduce an internet filter which will never go through due to massive public disapproval. One guy... not 'Australia'. "Stephen Conroy is a twat" t-shirts would sell so well.
Benjimino234
I'm in Queensland so it wasn't all that bad as the blood red rather than a sepia tone. But still very cool. Some people in Sydney when they woke up must of been like, "Oh my God!!! It's the end of the world!!!" But man... That is so cool, a nice deep blood red covering the city, wish I was there. But the sepia tone Brisbane is also cool.

The first photo was taken about 11am, the next about 11:30: Edit: The first photo is the beginnings of the dust storm. The city doesn't have a smog problem, and the view from South Bank is usually clear as a bell. Edited September 24, 2009 by makeshyft
Stefan.
It's much better though now. Like I'm from Melbourne, so we didn't get any dust at all, but I talked to a friend who's in Sydney at the moment and he said today was much better, like perfectly clear. Except the dust has practically taken a shat over everything in its path, and everything needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Oh and Stephen Conroy is a moron, but he's in Rudd's ministry so no real surprise really.

I had my car locked in the garage all day yesterday and still had to clean the windscreen... I picked some awful stuff out of my nose, too. I assumed that the skies in at least part of NZ were always red from the fires of Mordor. Depending on how angsty Sauron's feeling that day. Qumulys
In a long enough time scale, its actually not that rare of an event. I still remember the massive sandstorm which hit Melbourne in 1983, I was only 6, yet still remember this massive phreaky sandstorm rolling in.... Wish I could find a larger pic of this! (This sandstorm was 8 days before Ash Wednesday occured, I think.... I hope there's no repeat for nsw or qld!) GTA3Freak-2001
I heard there could be another not as large but another chance of some dust on Saturday You heard from where? There is another similar cold front coming in on Saturday that could whip up more dust and send it in the same sort of direction, probably not as bad though. That's what the weather said anyway, they aren't always right.

Blind Joe Death
This sh*t clogged up my nose and throat the other day, f*cking annoying. Was working in the studio and when I got out all I could see through the window was...well, nothing. Just red sh*t everywhere. Since I just got back from NZ the night before I had no knowledge of what was happening in Sydney so my first thoughts were DOOMSDAY and to get my camera out right away. Supposedly it's heading back my way (Gold Coast) tomorrow, really hope not since that will delay my camping trip.

Blind Joe Death
No fog here during the day, though there's a small portion of it floating around now. I can see it under the street lights and I have that awful taste in my mouth and clogged nose again.
