Really low fps

Hey, my PC isnt really bad but I get really low fps in GTA IV - around 15, highest is 20, and sometimes even goes down to 10. My specification:

AMD Athlon 64 x2 5050e

Gainward GTS 250 1GB DDR3

2 GB DDR2 800 Mhz RAM

Windows XP Home with SP3

Ive seen many people with very similiar computers and their GTA was running waaay better. Ive tried reinstalling, adding the commandline, cleaning up my PC and changing to various settings. There is almost no difference in FPS between high and low settings. Is there anything else I can try or is this game just THAT badly optimized?

well actually the game is very bad optimized

and this is a very demanding game if u dont have a good pc just dont play

4GB of RAM would be better, but probably wouldn't make that much of a difference. If you're desperate for more FPS, get a new video card...a GTX 260 would probably work a bit better.

The GTS 250 is fine. It's your processor that is pulling you down. GTA IV is optimized for high settings and hence, you don't see much difference in fps on low and high settings.

 

Have you tried the AMD Dual Core Optimizer?

Also, try defragging the drive you've installed the game on. And use only the -memrestrict command as suggested in the pinned topic. You can also use the -norestrictions command but other than that, don't use any other commandline parameters.
