[WIP]GTA IV Snowfall Mod

BETA 2 IS RELEASED

 

I am making a mod called “GTA IV Snowfall Mod”. It makes the rain to look like snow. It is still in beta version so it’s going to have improvements until the final version is released.

That's awesome, i wanted to make snow for my GTA IV Beta Mod too, as additional weather, like sunny or rainy. But i didn't got how to make the rain drops bigger, and i made snow flocks as texture too.

Well, and in the snow mod of jumbo, the snow doesn't look like real snow.

Anyway I think you should make the snow flakes a bit smaller and make it more frequent.

Snow looks brilliant . Also, host the mod on GTAG (The database that holds mods for GTAForums.com) then, when the site your currently using stops hosting your file, people will still be able to get it .

BTW, what file does this currently replace? I'd like to install it, but I don't want to overwrite the original file it will replace (I can't find out because you've put it in an installer package )

I've read your PM.The idea is good and I am going to include it in beta 2.I will host this mod on GTAG and the .rar will include the installer and the files which the installer contains.

So I've tested the mod and the only bug I found is that it's raining (well snowing) even inside buildings (tunnels, safehouses, basically everywhere). Try to fix that. And plz make the snow flakes more tiny and frequent. I'm sure it'd look awesome.

And maybe make it a bit more white

Ehh, I think this may be a bug that was already in the game (Or at least brought on by a certain patch from Rockstar) I have heard some users, ATI users to be more specific, I think, that they have rain inside buildings, tunnels etc... Do you have an ATI card? Did you experience rain in these areas before?

There is no problem to make the flakes more tiny,but i can't understand how to make them more frequent,that is the problem.I'm always testing.Also there is a problem with making the flakes more white.I've edited the rain drop texture but nothing happens.

What files have you changed so far? Also, I think the rain is coded, so changing it's frequency may be harder than expected... Although, I might, just might have an idea, if you do tell me what files you have changed to get this snow effect.

Well then try to make them smaller, and don't make the snow flakes so round. I mean they look like a perfect circle.

I have also experienced the raining inside buildings (I have an ATI card), so I am sure its not the mod...

Really cool. You should make a snow mod with snow on the streets, trees etc. that would be really awesome and I think the snow would fit really good to Liberty City.

These are a couple of videos which shows you the improvements for beta 2.The snow flakes are much smaller and much more white.

 

I think I must reduce the amount of motion blur before the release,but I'm not sure.I will see.

Sounds good to me. Now all we need is an asi script to get snow on the streets. I'd love to see this in GTA:

Especially the snowy cars. That'd rock. (a bit mafia 2 feeling )

Nice. The flakes' size are great, but it's still not enough white for me. Maybe it's because of my weather settings, but if I look closely, it looks like white rain drop

I can make them more white,but for me it looks unnaturally.I will make some screens to show you how it looks.

the mods looks good, but some tips, the first one looks better for the rate of speed that the snow is falling, and the fact that their is no snow sticking on the ground, it makes it look more like a slushy kinda snow

 

for Beta 2, if you want white snow flakes you should make them a bit smaller, and fall slower, as usually white flakes are lighter and fluffier

The final version is coming soon.I had a lot of work these days,but I think that this weekend I will release it.
