Gorcha9 Posted November 2, 2009 Share Posted November 2, 2009 Just a few days ago I started playing GTA IV after purchasing it months ago and not being able to play it cause my PC couldn't handle it. I upgraded my memory and video card hoping to be able to play the game. So it works now, I've been playing IV for hours on in and I just noticed something REALLY weird in the game. You know how sometimes when you leave your cell phone too close to your computer or your car stereo, and the speakers make a buzzing noise right before it's about to ring? My PC speakers do this right before my INGAME CELL PHONE is about to ring!! I dunno much about radio waves and whatnot, but I read up on it: 1) A cellphone or BlackBerry emits pulsing radio waves intended to contact a nearby cellphone tower. 2) The radio waves are picked up by speakerphones or public address systems, whose wires act as antennas and convert the radio waves into electrical signals. 3) The electrical signal travels to the speaker located in the device, which changes it into acoustic energy. 4) The acoustic pulses are transmitted out the speaker, just like the regular audio signals the device produces. Now that basically proves that the ingame cell phone emits real radio waves around your computer (hoping to reach a nearby cell phone tower in your area?) I don't know why I left this open for so long. All I can think is that my brain was damaged by Rockstar and their realistic portrayal of the mobile phone going off and making a weird noise. I don't know if the op was ever "serious" about this issue but for those that may be a bit concerned the buzzing noise you get when playing GTA 4 and the ingame phone goes off is an AUDIO effect. There is nothing in the game whatsoever that can give you brain damage unless of course you play the game with a joypad and it drives you insane and you end up smashing your head against a brick wall because of it all. At any rate I wouldn't recommend you bash your head against a brick wall ........ I mean it isn't fair to the wall, what did the wall ever do to you ?
