Why do people think Will Smith is a great actor when he does the same thing in every film, does the same face expressions when he is sad and has the same scream in EVERY single film and the excuse fans make are always "Will Smith is awesome" when he is boring?

It's all subjective really.

I, personally, don't see how anyone can be a fan of an actor. See how shortsighted some people are?

You know, this is mostly a thread for topics that have definite answers, as in, not opinions. If you want to bitch about actors, I would say try the Movies and TV forum, but that sort of stuff doesn't happen often in there.

How come that often on Greatest Hits CD's songs that were originally released in the 70's, originally only a few mb's in weight, are generally +10 mb when they're re-released - even when it's clearly the same recording?

70s Digital Music now eh? So much for the advent of CD in 1982.

Because there usually reworked to a better quality. Remastered really.

Legit question here, guys: I have about 13 hours to get rid of a fever. 8-9 spent sleeping. Anything I can do? I really can't be sick right now. (see, I'm not one of those morons who want to get sick to get out of school tounge.gif)

Drinking liquids - good. Which is better? Cool water or very warm tea? Moms would say hot tea, but the internet says cool water.

Though, it'd help if I knew what exactly I needed to achieve. Like, do what with my body.

Any help?

Drinking liquids - good. Which is better? Cool water or very warm tea? Moms would say hot tea, but the internet says cool water.

Well people say hot tea is better because it helps to sweat that sh*t out of you. If you don't have any medicine then that would be best solution of course.

Or if you have vodka and some ginger, you could make yourself ginger tea with vodka, I was speaking to gods when I drank that. But at least I was good in the morning.

I'd say drinking some water is your safest bet. You'd be surprised at how much difference it really makes. I usually drink tea when I have a soar throat, never heard of anyone using it to cure fever.

Never heard of the temperature being important - just lots of fluid. Preferably water, as artificial additives/sweeteners etc can impede your body's ability to absorb it properly. Also, sleep, as you said.

MP3 or FLAC? Are the bitrates different? There's really no explaining two MP3s with same length and same bitrate differing that much.

MP3, and it was the bitrates. Didn't think of that. confused.gif

MP3 sucks anyway. Alas even studios even seem to produce music for the iPod generation these days confused.gif. Even most of the amps at work are digital too.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing the iPod supporting OGG and FLAC, if only to break the de facto monopoly MP3 has on the Internet. If you know what you're doing there's hardly going to be a difference between an MP3 file and a FLAC file. If you've got a super swell set-up at home and can hear the difference, go for FLAC, but I'd argue that most people can't hear the difference between a 128 kbps MP3 and a FLAC - myself included. Now if you're paranoid about losing that much quality, but still want to save space just go for variable bitrates instead. At the highest level of VBR, many FLAC-ophiles fail to hear a difference between an MP3 and a FLAC file. I personally go for V2 because I find it to be a good trade-off between any hypothetical loss of quality and size, and because it's the lowest bitrate What.CD offers (sorry if I'm linking to warez or something). It's really quite versatile a format.

In short, monopoly sucks, MP3s you get from LimeWire suck, quality encodes from a lossless source don't.

Agreed. CD is at least of a high enough bitrate to be useful provided the studio responsible for making the CD aren't monkeys that think bunging a load of MP3s on a CD is fine. FLAC is great from what I've sampled of it, however I'm in a same boat, I've gotta throw it all out/convert it all to MP3/AAC to stop iTunes having a hissy fit. Hell, even ATRAC was a better format for portable devices. Mind you, I can sure as hell tell a 320kbps MP3 over a 128 or even a 192.

Hah, love people talking about 70s music being released with a bitrate.

Adorable. And idiotic.

Not that I approve of the world revolving around MP3, but I am glad we only rely on one format (even if it isn't the best). There is no licensing fee to encode or decode it and virtually every electronic device today supports it. At least there's one format you know is going to work. After all, listening to your music at a lower bitrate is better than not listening to it at all.

I'm a pretty averagely build teenagers and I can't do a push-up to save my life. Is that weird?

Background info: It's not so much that I don't have the strength to do them, it's more that my back kills me when I do one.

I have the back of 60-year old man, and I am of less than medium strength but I can still do 10 military push-ups before I start crying. I think you're just a skirtwearing little sissy girl. tounge.gif Keep practicing and if it REALLY hurts, and you don't get any better at it maybe you should get yourself checked for back issues.

My Q: Is there any way to collapse that menu on the left permanently?

Yes but he was talking about removing it permanently, the collapse menu at the top just removes it until refresh.

Oh, damn you! I wanted an excuse to call him a noob.

Besides, once the menu has been collapsed, doesn't it stay collapsed? I don't think there is a way of getting rid of it for good, unless you can code a script on FF to do that.

For the record, it was actually the newbie guide that drove me to search for a way to permanently shut that thing down. It's so much better to navigate without it when I'm on my iPod.

The push up question is starting to confuse me. Man up Bobby Hill.

I may actually have a real question. No lie.

I'm not just saying this because I am friends with Slamman, but if he gets the most nominations for 'most missed member' at the GTANet awards, does that mean he will get a chance to return?
