The games are coming out on disc - that's how I'm gonna buy them as I don't have and don't know how to set up Xbox Live. Surely then they will also come out on disc for the PS3 since they aren't download exclusives, and there is nothing stopping R* from making PS3 versions. Besides, they already perfected the game on PS3, so all the other additions are just manipulations of the available game engine with a few additions.

A potential loophole in the exclusivity contract, maybe.

Pretty sure it is the content that is exclusive not the method of delivery.

 

I bought an Xbox because it was cheaper than the PS3 and had a much wider selection of games, and more shooters to boot. On top of that, i found the controller to be vastly superior to the Ps3, which felt crampt and inorganic. The DLC just sweetened the deal.

But the deal is not very clear, and because they haven't really made anything clear leads me to believe it can go to another system some time in the future, whether PC or PS3 I don't know.

 

EFLC is a disc for it's own reasons (broader audience that way; non XBL users, or Arcade owners).

There is always one isn't there and why am I not surprised it is CHOOKOKABRA. The point is if they are not supporting my preferred platform I don't see why I should pay them my hard earned money. I bought a console once to play GTA 4 I hated the game on the console (been a mouse and keyboard user for nearly 20 years). So I won't be in a hurry to waste £200 again on a console.

 

So if Rockstar are hell bent on giving me an "inferior" experience just because they hopped into bed with the latest "flavour of the month" console manufacturer then I don't think I should be supporting that company and will quite happily leave them too it.

Dont go jumpin to conclusions charlie! You know as well as I do that TBOGT will come to the PC eventually. PC is getting TLAD so why wouldn't you get TBOGT as well? I was just a tad taken back with your attitude thats all.

TLAD is coming to PC for sure? Hadn't heard this yet.

 

Anyways, I don't much like the idea of exclusive content either. I guess I just don't like the idea of leaving people out in the cold for a buck. PC, xbox, and ps3 users should all get it at the same time, imo.

 

I will definitely get it for xbox, since I have one already. I'd rather play it on my PC though for obvious reasons, lol.

 

The whole delayed release crap, kinda lowered my opinion of rockstar, sadly.

 

One other thing that bugs me about these releases. The trailers where obviously recorded on a PC, because the 360 doesn't look nearly as good as the game play shots in the trailer. FTL.

You know, I would of bought the 360 if it wern't for the RROD. My friend got this recently, more than 2 times. Xbox 360 is a brilliant Console but it does have alot more problems than PS3. Thats why i chose PS3 because it won't breakdown (It's failure rate is like 1% or less) . So i'm happy i got PS3, But i'm unhappy that Rockstar betrayed us PS3 Owners.

 

If the DLC exclusivity is teprary on the Contract, which is likely, Then R* won't have any hesitation to release the 2 DLC's in a years time or so when the NeXt Major GTA comes out. Yet again, it's only DLC, and if Parachutes, and new helicopters are in this DLC, Then the NeXt GTA i think will be even better. So i'm happy, but i will go over to a friends and play, or mabey just watch it on youtube, i just want to see how it is.

 

You Xboxers have fun, and i will either await the DLC's for PS3 and await the NeXt GTA which probably has even more to offer

I have no interest in an Xbox 360 apart from the GTA IV content. So heck no will i buy an Xbox just for Downloadable content. The PS3 was a better choice for me that's why i bought i from day one. Also has more appealing games to me than the Xbox. And who really cares about exclusives games anyway. Most of the games i have are multi platform. Exclusivity would never sway my choice. Unless The next Grand theft auto game was exclusive to one system.

I have a theorie that they have changed the distribution method due to the lack of sales over Xbox live ~(due to the fact not all of you have it) even the pre paid card for L&D was a link to the download. recently someone mentioned its only sold 2 million copys witch may have something todo with there change of stratergy.

 

unless the plan was all along to make L&D DLC exclusive until the ultimate GTAIV content came out (BOGT) afterall Rockstar did say that the DLC was an experiment anyway. perhaps they also meant by that the way it would get delivered.

 

Lets face it rockstar are well known for experimenting even with certain features in certain games to go in there next games.

Since my friends who have 360's don't have GTA IV, I guess I would have to buy one, but I don't see the point of spending 300 dollars to get 2 down loadable add ons to one of my favorite games, other then GTA IV DLC, I really don't see a reason for me to buy a 360. I guess I'll continue to hope that the DLC comes to the PS3.

Just out of interest what was the figure of GTAIV copys sold on XBOX 360.

From what I can gather GTA 4 has sold in total 13 million copies that is spread over the 360, PS3 and PC. Take Two have pretty much said that the split between 360/PS3 is 50/50. If you check VGchartz (not exactly the most reliable source in the world) the split is 55/45 in favour of the Xbox. Lets pretend that for a second VGChartz are telling the truth it looks like :-

 

Xbox 360 = 7.19million

PS3 = 5.80million

PC = God knows but I would say at least 1 million

 

Like I said VGchartz are not the most reliable site in the world but I believe their figures are "ball park" right. So lets say there are 7 million GTA 4 gamers on the xbox 360.

The DLC has shifted around 1 - 2 million. Let's assume it's 2 million by now, that means only 28% of Xbox GTA 4 owners bothered with the DLC. Which if you ask me is pretty piss poor and you can't help escape the conclusion that this "Episodes of Liberty City" disc is there to boost the numbers. It is well known that console gamers value their physical media and it is possible that TLaD being download only impacted on the sales figures.

 

Let's just look at those figures again, if we look at the PS3 user base of 5 million GTA'ers that means Rockstar is currently losing out on 1.5 million users (28% of 5 million) for the lost and damned alone. If you want to really speculate you can add another 250,000 on to the 1.5 million for PC gamers. So by ignoring PC and PS3 users Rockstar is losing out on around $40 million PER episode. All of a sudden that $50 million doesn't seem such a good deal for life time exclusivity does it Which is why I believe the DLC will come to both the PC and the PS3.

If you are intending to buy a laptop to play GTA 4 then forget it unless you are willing to spend thousands on a top of the range model. I love PC's but I am not going to blow smoke up your arse, GTA 4 on the PC needs a meaty machine to run decently. You would be better to get a bog standard laptop and a console to play games on.

Right now Rockstar are treating 5 million odd GTA PS3 gamers and god knows how many PC gamers as "second class citizens" I don't appreciate that and I am not going to pat a company on the back for doing it either.

Not a console fan but bought a Wii for my wife. The sports games are great on that but I like all the mods available in PC gaming. Big UT2004 and UT3 player and the user generated content is what keeps me going back. I may try some mods for GTA but undecided right now as the game itself is pretty good. Also undecided whether I will do any MP in GTA besides what is necessary to get a 100% game, seems to be too many cheaters/hacks.
