The only good thing that can be said about this is that it finally (hopefully) puts the scandal behind them. But it's an outrageous amount of money to have to pay. It's 36 times as big as the fine CBS got for Janet Jackson's nipple showing during the Super Bowl, and that fine was tossed out in court for being unfair! Rockstar is getting screwed here.

Think how much game development could have been done with $20 million. That's almost another GTA IV episode! What a waste.

4.9 million is what Rockstar lost. The rest was Insurance money

The scene (right) wasn’t playable in the game until a hacker released a tool that unlocked it

That picture ain't even the correct one (The one on the site).

Yeah I noticed the picture was wrong but they probably thought they couldn't show the real one. Or it was a stupid Google Image Search with filters on at their workplace and they don't even know what it really looks like.

supermortalhuman

dude wtf? This guys is like years late, isn't he? Didn't they even say in the script of GTA iv "Can cost you like 20 million dollars"

They are paying 20 million dollars again?

More than the article the comment by an Anonymous user takes the cake

It's just bizarre that this is an issue for a company whose game makes it easy for players to do wholesome things like beating prostitutes to death in the street, slaughtering police responding to the scene, stealing their cars, running down pedestrians all over the city in the stolen vehicle, and then returning to their homes having successfully evaded the law with no consequences.

What the hell is wrong with the country that a simple sex scene, depicting something that most people do all the time, costs the company money, but creating a game that makes it easy to roleplay a run-amok bloodthirsty killer is perfectly fine and has no consequences whatsoever?

Honestly, I think having a game in which players can be bloodthirsty killers is not a real problem either, but even if you think sex *should* be forbidden, surely gruesome heedless and bloodthirsty violence is far worse?

Whoever wrote the article has no idea what the f*ck he is talking about.

Parents were not pleased that the scene let the hero of the game accept an invitation for hot coffee from a bikini clad woman and  then engage in sex in her apartment.

You know, it's such a shame that "the unplayable scene" is actually something that can actually happen.

Epic fail there, methinks.

I would say to the writter:

If you don't know it, don't criticize it
