Mister Pink
After hearing the news today, I'm suprised it ever even went to court. I wouldn't put it past a few people that I knew to fantasise about killing half the people in their school, maybe even putting it on paper. Say I posted a story in writers' discussion - from a terrorist's perspective - of bombing an embassy or something, it could be perceived as literal and I could be arrested. In what they wrote there was something like "And then I left the building after killing them all" - it was a piece of creative writing, fantasising about killing all the people he hated at school, probably because he got bullied. The news origionally said that they were testing pipe bombs on video, they were f*cking fire cracker-like little sh*tty blasts, no bigger then my hand that couldn't of killed a frog. The media blew this way out of proportion, what an embarrasment. I agree with you and 860. This pure post 9/11 and Columbine propoganda and paranoia. The newspaper and media are taking liberties to criminally profile these kids too. You can take anyones life and say they like this and that to make them sound evil. "He used to burn ants as a child. Growing up he played GTA and masturbated furiously throughout his teens. After discovering alcohol he embarassed himself on many nights out." - He is, Anywon Ondisforum. I see what you mean, and maybe I was a little hasty in my words, so apologies for that. I just saw it as a window for anyone to just say they wouldn't have done this, this and this and then get away with conspiracy. Every case is different, and I dare say I've wanted to kill people and blow things up.
Mister Pink
Don't apologise for anything. You have a valid point and opinion. I think these kids will have learned a lesson and hopefully people in future not to mess around with this kind of thing. Cases like this have to be taken seriously now thanks to Columbine and 9/11 and some investigative cases will waste police time and taxpayers money. Arresting two teenagers for conspiracy to commit murder is hardly paranoia or propaganda.

Arresting two teenagers for conspiracy to commit murder is hardly paranoia or propaganda. Yes, I agree. HolyGrenadeFrenzy ponders the future examples of how this postulate can be used to various effects. If fact, I believe that anytime that anyone says anything destructive or evil; falling within a certain set of patterns associated with criminal behavior patterns as chosen by a select group of “experts“ of crime and particularly violent crime, they should be arrested in the name of "prevention". Eventually we can arrest anyone we choose in the name of a crime they “will commit” before they actually do so. Free will of any kind is dangerous and being arrested for what goes on in your mind is the best way to protect everyone and LESS expensive than council ling . Looking out my window each day I see a whole host of teens that are obviously just little criminals plotting to undo the very fabric of society and they deserve to be arrested and severely punished for every damn thought they have that does not meet with our total and complete approval. We must never allow them to become the dreaded things we know they will become if we do not intervene. Another perfect example of how someone didn’t listen to the right kind of music. Thought crime is the worst kind! APPLY VAROUIS SNAFU TONES to this post. --------------------------------------------- Thankfully no one was deleted.....yet. Mad Tony
Here we go again, I say it's right to arrest two teenagers who planned to blow up a school and murder people, then you come along with all this conspiracy and thought crime sh*t. What, so you're telling me that if a plot to murder somebody was uncovered we should just stand back and let them do it before taking action? After all, preventing somebody from murdering people is one of the elements of a fascist police state, right? Why do you always have to take things too far? HolyGrenadeFrenzy
Relax man, just because certain actions of the police and the court are used justly today does not mean that the same actions will be used justly tomorrow. This is a fact that history has repeated time and time again. You must look at how the decisions of a court can be abused. In this situation it may be completely appropriate yet that does not mean that it will be appropriate in the majority of the time to come. Do you mean to tell me that the concepts of destruction to yourself or others have never crossed your mind? You can't get into the mind of the criminal unless you have gone though a period of getting into the criminal mind yourself. This is not as effective if you only do so as an "objective observer" and while a certain degree of indifference is vital the judgment goes both ways in the legal system. People are not allowed to defend themselves when attacked by protected species in some states of the United States without being arrested, for crying out loud. Plus, there is a great error in your statement of “Always take things to far”. The presumption is automatically false because no one on earth does a behavior if choice is available,” All the time”, and psychologically speaking in absolutes about others is inherently false. Why do you always have to take things too far? Absolutes in judgment of behavior include yet are not limited to the following. Always Never Every time Without exception Anything Everyone Everything These statements become false unless further limited in there absolution and even then context and omnipresence towards someone else's perspective is irrational and arrogant. The list goes on yet the point is that absolute statements are unreliable at best and most of the time inherently false. Mad Tony
What's your point? Anything can potentially be "abused" in the future. Oh, and I'm not saying anybody who even thinks about killing somebody should be arrested (this is what I mean when I said you take things too far) but these two people had actual plans in writing, as well as witnesses. HolyGrenadeFrenzy
What's your point? Anything can potentially be "abused" in the future. Oh, and I'm not saying anybody who even thinks about killing somebody should be arrested (this is what I mean when I said you take things too far) but these two people had actual plans in writing, as well as witnesses. Precrime and preventative arrest? Methinks that one must consider carefully what can and cannot be abused, else we use it as an excuse to do anything we please to anyone without due processes and without recognizing rights that they hold lest we give up our own by whim to those that had off a handy excuse for such action. It reminds me of the Back In Control Center of the nineteen eighties and how out of hand that got. Precrime, Thought Crime, Inquisition Committees and the like; for a lack of better terms that commit and push toward the abuse of power within a republic is abhorrent. So, in a strange way I agree with you completely. You just enjoy finding the wrong way to take much of what I say, it seems. ----------------------------EDIT That is also, why I said that,"IT MAY BE APPROPRIATE", in this circumstance to hold them accountable. They do fit the profile of the bizarre criminal whom wants to be caught, however. The most important thing is that a real rehabilitation instead of the college for crimes within most current prison situations, unless life sentencing is commencing of course. People change much in their lives and the opportunity to change is vital to the human condition. The eugenicists disagree about behavior being anything remotely related to choice, without repression and they are incorrect in this. HolyGrenadeFrenzy starts singing and swaying in his chair and then gets up and starts dancing and clapping.
