Health Regeneration

Hey people, There are two seperate sorts of health regeneration I would like in neXt. I'm just not sure which one I would prefer.

1 - Real Life Damage

Instead of being able to get shot with a glock 10 times in a row and surviving, how about your character dies in like 4 shots? I always thought it was unrealistic how you could get shot with an AK-47 like 8 times in a row and still survive. Having realistic damage would result in having more intense fire-fights, you would have to constantly hide behind cover etc.

OR

Health Regeneration (SR2 Style)

I always like how In the Saints Row games, your health would regenerate, it was still hard to survive. But not nearly as difficult as GTA, as you could just run away and wait a while before going back into the action. GTA always annoyed me how you had to constantly eat food/save etc if you wanted to regain health. Even though it was more realistic that way.

Perhaps both combined? Have realistic damage, but health regeneration involved?

What do you think?

Slowly regenerating health sounds like a good idea. Also, another feature that can be added is that your character slows down after getting shot. Take Niko's example; he can still jog and sprint even after being shot multiple times. Regenerating health will make the game easier and slowing down after getting shot will provide a subtle balance to the difficulty aspect of the game.

Yeah, this sounds like a very good idea. Depending on where you got determined how it affected you. E.G getting shot in the arm affects aiming, leg shots makes you limp etc.

Have you guys played the game Dark Corners Of The Earth? That game features an awesome system for how injuries to various body parts had effects on the player character's performance. It would be pretty cool to have a somewhat similar system for a GTA game, although not taken as far as in DCotE.

About the feature of health regeneration, I'm all for that, as long as it takes at least 2-3 minutes to fully regenerate the heatlh. It would be especially cool if this feature was combined with a body part damage system, where we could have the protagonist get hit in the leg, limp around for 30 seconds or so and then slowly get better until fully healed.

Your first 'realistic' idea sucks, fun > realism, and your idea takes out the first.

A 'subtle' health regeneration seems fine, not like in SR2 where you just take cover for a few seconds, but like 2-3 minutes without losing health for full health regeneration.

I've seen people taking 5-6 shots from an AK before dying, it's not that unrealistic.

And if health regeneration would be included, I'd say it should be combined with food and sleeping, so that you eat food and your health starts slowly regenerating. Maybe also something like MGS3, where you have to remove bullets and treat wounds and stuff. What should not be included is Call of Duty style of regeneration, where you have to take cover for a few seconds and are healed miraculously healed. I don't know Saints Row so I can't say anything about that.

What about adrenaline shots ? you could use them any time, as a limited amount, i'm not so fond of health regeneration, i don't mind, but i think people can come up with better ideas.
