Proofed Girlfriend Cars

 

Testing has been conducted on a PC using version 1 and version 2 scripts.

Update: Confirmed by Jack Reacher on PS2.

 

Mission: Two-Timing Date

 

BP/FP/DP/EP Hustler

BP/FP/DP/EP Monster B

BP/FP/DP/EP Bandito

BP/FP/DP/EP Police Rancher

BP/FP/DP/EP Romero

BP/FP/DP/EP Feltzer *

 

* For some reason Millie is driving a Pink Feltzer instead of her usual Club.

 

 

Method:

 

Drive a Tow Truck, or leave a Tow Truck near the girlfriend's home during the date. Trigger a Two-Timing date. When the jealous girlfriend appears, lead her to the home of the girlfriend being dated. Wait for the jealous girlfriend to come close before entering the mission sphere and then wait until the jealous girlfriend speaks and proofing to be applied before turning down or accepting an invitation for coffee. If CJ will not be invited for coffee then wait until the jealous girlfriend is very close before entering the home sphere of the girl being dated.

 

Chase down the jealous girlfriend. Avoid shooting or she'll drive off in a hurry. Back into the car with the Tow Truck and bump the car to coax the girlfriend out of the vehicle (sometimes works) and then take the car and save it in a garage. The doors are not locked after they exit. If she doesn't exit the car then hopefully she will try to ram CJ's vehicle instead of racing out of sight and disappearing. Hook up the car to the towing vehicle and tow the car to a save garage. Keep her pinned in the garage and allow the door to shut; the girlfriend will disappear and the car can be saved.

 

 

One-Time Two-Time Theory

 

If Two-Timing dates are not disabled and CJ has more than 1 girlfriend then there is a 50% chance that any other active girlfriend will appear as a jealous girlfriend 7 seconds after leaving or failing to reach the destination, or completing or failing the goal. Gimp Suit dates and She Drives dates do not trigger jealous girlfriends.

 

Two-Timing dates will be permanently disabled when CJ goes on a date that is not a Gimp Suit or She Drives date and leaves or fails to reach the destination (Food or Dancing), or completes or fails the goal (Driving, Drive-By):

  • if only one girlfriend is active
  • if a jealous girlfriend does not appear
  • if the jealous girlfriend is evaded
Anytime Collection:

 

I believe these are the only proofed vehicles that can be collected without triggering a story mission. Since Michelle, Katie, Barbara, and the Doherty save garage are available at the beginning of the game it is possible for the Monster B, Police Rancher, and/or Romero to be collected without completing any story missions.

Game Saves

 

As mentioned in the previous post, triggering the Two-Timing date is currently the most difficult part of collecting these vehicles. Not much is known about the conditions that trigger the jealous girlfriends. However, I have a save where Barbara is very likely to appear if Katie is dated. This save is from my first attempt at early collecting and mission completion (CJ has been busted and wasted several times, and is not yet complete). No cheats, trainers, mods, or editors have been used on this save. If you dash right over to Katie's house she probably won't be home - so get things ready and save again.

Unmodified Save and the same save converted to version 2

 

Jealous Barbara v1 v2

Same as above with cities unlocked, time advanced, Romero's removed, Tractor and NRG available, saved at Katie's house, and save name changed.

 

 

CLEO Codes

 

I'm a bit short on time today, but I wanted to post a few codes that might be useful for testing. If there is much interest I'll try to customize a save with these codes for testing the other girlfriends.

I am so glad that I don't have to start the whole game again just to get these because I'll have to get King Of San Andreas again! However, the two timing thing is gonna be really hard. It's hard for me to understand how to trigger it from Glenster's guide.

 

Is it possible for you to post a video guide of how you can get those vehicles with your method?

 

This is a great find! It's just like the girlfriends in GTA: IV where they can make your vehicle DP/BP/FP/EP!

That's a great find OrionSR icon14.gif and adds a new challenge to special vehicle collector enthusiasts like myself. A BP/EP/FP/DP MONSTER or a POLICE RANCHER would be great addition to proofed vehicle collection.

 

I remembered that during the Chain Game 45, players had reported instances of jealous girlfriends showing up during some dates. So i searched and found that i myself had experienced this phenomenon here.

 

I loaded that particular CG 45 Save game (GTASNP link has expired, download was possible from the HMVARTAK site) which has Denise & Katie as girlfriends acquired and initiated a date with Denise who wanted to eat out. Imagine my delight when she wanted CJ to drop her home, Katie appeared in her White Romero. I then entered the red marker in front of Denise's house but did not shake off Katie, but the date turned out successful eventually. Then i followed Katie's car in a BF 400 which i lost midway and then in a Tahoma.

 

I even fired at Katie when her car stopped for a brief moment which had no effect on her or her car. When i tried to ram with the Tahoma i was driving, my car bounced off and took a lot of damage. Katie drove all around LS and got stuck near Pershing square in a traffic tangle. I hit her car with mine, the damage caused my car to catch fire and i bailed out right there. To my surprise even Katie got out of her car and just stood there. The ensuing car explosions had no effect on her at all. I then jacked her Romero, the doors of which were open, took to Ganton and stored in the garage with the proofings intact and saved the game.

In a similar way, I believe that you can make any vehicle all-proof, or at the very least damage-proof, during a successful date.

 

Here’s how it works:

1) During ‘coffee,’ the vehicle that you drove the date home in becomes proofed during the actual ‘coffee’ scene.

2) After ‘coffee,’ the vehicle loses those special qualities; it becomes normal again.

 

I discovered this by taking dates in a helicopter. During the ‘coffee’ scene, the helicopter would fly (pilotless) and crash repeatedly into the girlfriend’s house, but after ‘coffee’ would have absolutely no damage (or smoking).

 

Also, I’ve taken all-proofed cars (EP/DP/FP/BP) on dates, and after the ‘coffee’ scene, they would lose all of those special qualities, which led me to believe that the vehicle became proofed for the ‘coffee’ scene, and un-proofed after that.

 

I haven’t checked the scripts or anything, and I don’t know how you’d keep them proofed, but it’s just something else to look at.

Thanks, laezy. That is our first confirmed collection - sort of. I believe round 45 was on a modified save, but still, no cheats or trainers were used, and CG47 didn't make any modifications to the girlfriends, so we are making progress. Well done.

 

MC_320 started a thread discussing How to trigger Two-Timing Dates.

 

I've been playing around with the girlfriend codes, trying to find out what triggers the two-timing dates. I've been gathering clues but still can't find the trigger.

 

Clues

 

The conditions for a two-timing date can be saved. I can't find the exact settings - yet.

 

If the conditions are right, there is a 50/50 chance that the two-timing date will be triggered. I've modified my scripts to assure a 100% chance while testing.

 

If the conditions are right, the jealous girlfriend can be any active girlfriend. I loaded the Jealous Barbara save posted above and activated Michelle with CLEO codes. After triggering the date with Katie a few times Michelle showed up instead of Barbara. I loaded the save again and met Michelle at the driving school and headed straight for her home to trigger a date - Katie showed up.

 

Collecting all oysters may or may not prevent two-timing dates. On the two-timing save I have CJ has all 50 oysters. However, I think he just recently finished the collection. CJ only has 1 oyster on the CG save posted by laezy. I'm still not sure how this can make any difference.

 

A successful date may not clear the conditions for a two-timing date. I loaded up the Jealous Barbara save with my scripts modified for 100% chance of a two timing date if conditions are right, activated all girlfriends, set them to always be home, and increased the progress for all girlfriends to 55%. I pickup up Michelle for a She Drives date, but no jealous girlfriend appeared. I then picked up Katie for a driving date and after reaching the required fun level, Helena showed up.

 

Zoom: I can confirm your observations about proofing during the coffee scene, but can't figure out how to break it to prevent removal of the proofing. Out of curiosity, I tried the jetpack cheat. CJ was placed back on the bike with the jetpack on, which was somewhat interesting, but no luck on keeping the proofing.

 

Update: Bad News

 

Damn, this is discouraging.

 

As best I can tell, if global variable $1236 is set to -1 then Two-Timing dates are disabled. $1236 is set to -1 if:

 

CJ goes on a date and only has 1 active girlfriend.

The random 50/50 chance of a Two-Timing date evaluates with no jealous girlfriend.

CJ manages to lose the jealous girlfriend.

 

The only good news is that entering the sphere at the girlfriend home to end the chase (and collect the car) does not set $1236 to -1, so it still might be possible to collect more than 1 car. I have been unable to find an in-game method to reset $1236.

 

It appears that the She Drives dates and Gimp Suit dates skip the two-timing evaluation completely.

Update: I got the proofed Police Rancher from Barbara under a 4 star wanted level using that beginning save posted above. Gentle nudging seems to work better for coaxing them out of the car than ramming the vehicle. It's currently parked at Doherty. I'll see about bringing it back to LS using an undrowning zone after I collect the other 2 available vehicles. Also, I was able to trigger another jealousy date after collecting the Police Rancher, so that confirms that two-timing still works.

 

Update 2: Katie's proofed Romero is now parked along side of Barbara's proofed Police Rancher. That two 4 star vehicles collected, 1 more to go. I wasn't having any luck bumping Katie out of her car so I brought a Tow Truck to Michelle's house. Towing under 4 star conditions was certainly a challenge. Fortunately, the trailers in the trucking missions don't try to escape when unhooked. BTW, I couldn't get Michelle to spawn at the driving school until I fattened CJ up, so appearance does matter after all oysters are collected.

Barbara's BP/EP/FP/DP Police Rancher Acquired

 

This time again i used another one of the Chain Game 45 Save from my own turn in which CJ had 4 girl friends(Denise, Katie, Michelle & Barbara).

 

The first time i met Katie at her house she refused to go out on a date citing that CJ wasn't fit enough. Then i managed to find an Infernus which gave a sex appeal boost to CJ and went to Katie who was available again indicated by the red marker in front of the house. She wanted to eat, so took her out to the nearby eatery behind her house. Just as the message came that she was tired & wanted CJ to take her back to home, Barbara showed up in her Police Rancher right in front of the hotel's door. Keeping Barbara's Rancher in sight i drove my car with Katie back to the red marker and the progress bar for Katie went one notch up in Green.

 

Then i chased Barbara around who did not go too far and was driving in circles near Katie's residence. Finally she got out of her proofed Police Rancher which prompted me to jack it and take it to Doherty for storage. After stepping out of her vehicle she even chased the Rancher on foot with a base ball bat in her hand. But i did not stay for long and drove off eventually.

 

Here are some images(couple of screen shots didn't come out as expected with many things missing, like cars, buildings, peds so had to forgo them)

.  ..If a two-timing date is triggered, CJ can make progress with the girl being dated, avoid losing progress with the jealous girlfriend, and keep future two-timing dates active by taking the girlfriend being dated home without losing the jealous girlfriend. This is the situation that allows jacking the proofed car.

So this theory from this topic seems to be working right.

Nicely done, Laezy! So you don't really have to use the Tow Truck/Tractor then? Will it actually be possible to get all the Girlfriends' special proofed vehicles?

 

When I get the Girlfriends' progress down, does it have to be 0%? How do I decrease this progress?

Why are you trying to drop their progress? I don't think that will effect the Two-Timing dates.

 

I'm finding the Tow Truck method to be much more reliable that coaxing them out of the vehicle, especially with a 4 star wanted level. Fortunately, Barbara got out of her car for me; driving a tractor with a wanted level doesn't seem very practical. Any suggestions on getting them to exit the car would be greatly appreciated. Collecting the Monster is proving quite difficult.

OrionSR, Great job. I was playing around during CG 45 also with the two-timing girlfriends. I posted it in the lounge. I just went back and loaded the same save that I played in round 45 , dated Katie and got Barbara's police rancher. When Barbara confronted me, I declined the coffee from Katie. Then I drove right out in the street in front of Katie's house and bumped into Barbara's rancher. Like laezy said, she got out with a baseball bat and I jacked her rancher. She chased after me and I drove to Doherty. This was a CG round, but we still have more proofed vehicles we can collect and use during the upcoming rounds.

Well done, DREVIL919. Those round 45 CG saves are coming in quite handy.

 

Keeping the Two-Timing dates active in the chain game, or any save for that matter, might be a bit tricky. Do you think we can convince everyone that all dates must be either Gimp Suit dates, She Drives dates, or Two-Timing dates that don't evade the jealous girlfriend? We might make it as far as collecting a proofed Bandito, but the Feltzer seems a bit out of reach. Fortunately the Feltzer isn't a uniquely proofed car. We can nab one from End of the Line and paint it pink if we want one. I have some ideas of how to modify the girlfriend properties to make two-timing a bit easier, but we should probably take that discussion to the lounge.

 

I'm still not having any luck with bumping Michelle out of that Monster on my restricted SF save. I've been at it for hours without any luck at all. I finally resorted to killing Barbara to assure that all of the 50/50 two-timing dates will spawn the Monster.

 

Notes: I don't think the doors are locked on the jealous girlfriend cars. I think the actors are "locked in place." CJ doesn't even try the door handle. Also, I can't move or turn the cars by ramming when they are stopped against an obstacle. I think this explains why ramming does so much damage. It seems similar to running into a train, or the firetruck from End of the Line.

 

Added: I'm pretty sure Katie came after CJ with a shovel. I wonder if their weapons are consistent. I doubt Denise will have her trust Micro-SMG.

Huh? I don't understand. I thought you have to drop their progress in order to activate the two timing date? I really have no idea how to trigger this.

 

I have all girlfriends set to 100% already except for Millie and game is already 100% complete. This is PS2 version. So what should I do with the 100% file?

Up until a few days ago the reports in Glenster's guide was the best information available for the Two-Timing dates. I tested these strategies but had very inconsistent results. I have worked extensively with pdescobar, trust his observations, and have been able to recreate his results. However, the strategies suggested by other player appear to conflict with my new theories - the information must be wrong, there is a version difference I can't identify, or perhaps my "One-Time Two-Time" theory is incomplete and needs revision. I encourage people to test the competing theories to discover which methods provide the best results.

 

According to the One-Time Two-Time theory, the dates completed on your 100% save have permanently disabled Two-Timing dates. If you have a cheat device program like AR-Max then we could work up a code to reset the two-timing flag to 0. I have been unable to identify any other option. However, I encourage you to try, I hope I'm wrong about this flag never getting reset. But I don't think so. I created a CLEO script that scans the two-timing variable and displays a message if it is greater than -1. I tried every possible dating option I could think of on my 100% save. No message appeared - the flag appears to be stuck forever.

 

One-Time Two-Time Theory

 

Any date other than a Gimp Suit Date, a She Drives date, a Two-Timing date where CJ gets caught, or a Two-Timing date where CJ takes the girlfriend home without losing the jealous girlfriend, will permanently disable Two-Timing dates.

Crap - I guess that isn't completely accurate either. Abandoning, abusing, or killing the girlfriend early in the date may avoid disabling the Two Timing dates. I guess I need to rephrase using the conditions that disable Two-Timing dates.

 

Two-Timing dates will be permanently disabled when CJ goes on a date that is not a Gimp Suit or She Drives date and leaves or fails to reach the destination (Food or Dancing), or completes or fails the goal (Driving, Drive-By):

  • if only one girlfriend is active
  • if a jealous girlfriend does not appear
  • if the jealous girlfriend is evaded
If Two-Timing dates are not disabled and CJ has more than 1 girlfriend then there is a 50% chance that any other active girlfriend will appear as a jealous girlfriend 7 seconds after leaving or failing to reach the destination, or completing or failing the goal. After coming close and failing a number of times, finally managed to acquire Denise's Hustler & Michelle's Monster in addition to the earlier Barbara's Police Rancher. I was lucky that Michelle got out of her vehicle immediately after the chase and i successfully got back to the red marker in front of Denise's house. At the other instance i was able to tow Denise's Hustler.

 

This time again CG 45 save game was utilized and this one (script v2) to be precise (saved at the Big pointy building Armory in Downtown), in which jealous GFs are appearing regularly 3 out of every 5 attempts and the time is convenient to date Katie & invariably she wants to eat. The only downside to this save is the non-availability of Helena.

Sometimes during the failed attempts i found that, the jealous GF's car would turn turtle, catch fire & finally explode after a chase and it would be still possible to obtain the proofed vehicle, provided if CJ is equipped with dual wield Sawn-off shot gun with enough rounds to shoot the wreck to a nearby safe house garage.

Now that the cat is out of the bag with these vehicles;

 

Here's the easiest way to get the girls to exit a vehicle:

 

Make sure that your last save is the "RIOT" Mission.

 

Take Denise out on a date.

 

Go through the usual process of getting the jealous girlfriend to follow you to Denise's house.

 

After you get Denise home and the girls exchange words (C. J. do you know this ugly man?...),

 

The jealous girlfriend will simply exit her car. (she'll try to fight you but just ignore her and jack her vehicle).

 

This method works 100% of the time (I never use cheat codes so I don't know if that makes a difference; I have heard people say that dp vehicles can take damage from tanks and I have never had that problem I attribute it to the use of cheats).

 

Denise's Hustler is the only vehicle that can not be obtained using this method for obvious reasons.

 

To clear up another misconception:

Barbara's Rancher and Michelle's Monster can be towed with the tow truck.

 

Vigilante missions can also be done with Barbara's Rancher. (It's the safest way to do them if you take your SMG to the Ammu-nation firing range enough times).

 

My brother helped me discover these vehicles when I succesfully got Denise back to her house after being chased by Michelle; and Michelle was still driving around after the cut scene. He yelled, "Say something to her!" because the bridges were closed and she didn't have any business being out there. I tried to open her door but the game didn't even acknowledge that she had a door, so I followed her for a long time

(he went upstairs). Eventually she stopped and got out in a drive way in Ballas territory. It seemed like the game tried to do everything it could to stop me from entering her truck; a car pulled up out of nowhere blocking the driveway, the Ballas tried to get me to provoke a gangwar and I some how got a star and police were swarming me. I eventually jumped over the car blocking the drive way, got in her truck and drove it away and parked it in the garage in Mullholland (it was tough to get in and out) and I saved the game. My brother said the car was most likely special but I didn't pay attention for a little while. Eventually I tested it, I crashed it into the wall (no damage), I through cocktails (it didn't catch on fire), and then I did the ultimate, I pulled out the gatling and fired (it stood there like a champ!) I didn't preform an explosion test because I didn't think it was neccessary.

I checked the internet to see if there was any mention of this car anywhere and I couldn't find anything. I felt like I was sitting on gold. I just started playing GTA in July of 2008 (only San Andreas though) and I specialize in getting things you're not supposed to have with no cheats, no deaths and no busts. I was waiting to post mine and my brother's discovery on youtube when I was able to; And every once in a while I would check the internet under dp bp ep fp Monster to see if anyone else had discovered the cars yet; No-one ever did...until now Congratulations OrionSr! (I thought it was a false alarm). I can answer just about any questions on obtaining these vehicles that anyone might have. I really didn't want anyone to know that I existed (besides people who know me personally) until I started posting my accomplishments on youtube when I was able to, but I had to respond to this discovery. I can answer questions about getting vehicles like the Sand King (with and without hydraulics), the Patriot and the Sea Sparrow to Gray Imports (making them explosion proof and fire proof). To get a Sand King without hydraulics to Los Santos early in the game requires the use of a jetmax and a whole lot of patients, luck and attempts.

 

But I'm going to have to post getting the Rustler to Gray Imports on youtube when I am able to because it's way to complicated to explain.

 

Taking a Rustler and Sea Sparrow to Gray Imports are good ways to make the hydra virtually ineffective against you when your flying with four stars or above (it can still crash into you though) I like to take my Gray imported Sea Sparrow to area 69 and shoot down police Mavericks and Hydras while explosions are going off. It's way more fun to shoot down Hydras with Rustler than a Sea Sparrow. With a Sea Sparrow you have to keep spinning and shooting your gatling.

 

I never did attempt to get one of the jealous girlfriend's cars in the begining before doing any missions because I don't like to record any disaterous dates, but I will attempt it after I finish what I am working on now.

Excellent find Orion_SR!. You're always a master when it comes to things like these smile.gif Finally, after a very long while a few more have been discovered. I just hope that System Error would still find the time to add them to his guide.

If the vehicle and your actions are locked in a scene where you have no or very limited control of your environment, there's really no concrete way to test and tell if a vehicle is indeed armored/proofed, unless there are other ways of confirmations like an actual description of the concerned vehicle by a character (End of the Line shooting part ) or during a scripted scene where you can interact with it. But then again chances maybe are that it will still be unobtainable.

Why are you all doing the hardest Way? It makes only sense for doing this with the Gay Pink Feltzer. All Cars from All Girlfriends (yes all) can be towed with a Towtruck/Tractor

 

Yes, the Monstertruck can be towed too.

Just place them in a garage with the towtruck, and let the door close, and open it up again. Then the vehicle is unlocked.

 

 

 

And, why so hard, when we can use trainers for changing carcolors and carspawners dozingoff.gif

 

//Edit: and the thing with the bandito is just stupid.. it has no doors so you can get in and drive away.

samotbrandon, thanks for the tip on towing the Monster and Police Rancher. I'm not sure what I was doing differently before but I just tried again and sure enough, I was able to tow either vehicle with the Tow Truck. Thanks, that should make things a lot easier.

 

GTA_Loco, I was able to confirm Zoom's coffee proofing by alt-tabbing during the cut-scene and checking the status of CJ's vehicle with San Andreas Control Center. But to be sure, I just altered my scripts and inserted a line to display a text message as the proofing is applied. When the cut-scene begins the proofing is applied, and then the proofing is removed when the scene ends. However, without a method to break the cut-scene I'm afraid this will remain a method to remove all proofings from a vehicle.

 

I sent System Error a PM with a link to this topic. If we work out all the bugs and arrive at dependable methods I'll try to send an email.

When the cut-scene begins the proofing is applied, and then the proofing is removed when the scene ends. However, without a method to break the cut-scene I'm afraid this will remain a method to remove all proofings from a vehicle.

Could it be that by applying the "blow-up-all-cars" cheat during the scenes is an alternative to the jealous gf event in obtaining the proofed cars? But then again this is cheating already.

 

Haven't tried this yet but it might just be possible.

OK, I finally got all the vehicles of the girlfriends that were datable in the CG round 45. There are 5; Katie, Barbara, Helena, Denise, and Michelle. At this stage of the game, Millie was not a girlfriend yet. I started with the save I first saw the jealous girlfriends show up in. (Mountain Cloud Boys) All the saves after that were in order of the way I collected the vehicles. Some interesting observations:

-Once at Denise's house, Barbara showed up but got stuck along the wall beside the house. She kept driving forward but not going no place. I couldn't get her out of the Rancher, it was like it wasn't there. Finally, she got free and drove off. She only went through the intersection and turned into an alley, got out of the Rancher. I went and got in it and drove off.-

-Katie was the hardest to get to show up, it took forever.-

-In my trials I was able to get the girls to get out of their vehicles.-

-When the girls get out they are armed as such: Helena with a bat, Katie with a golf club, Barbara with a shovel, Michelle had nothing, and I didn't see what Denise had as she was the last one collected.-

All the collection was mostly done in SF.

I collected multiple Ranchers because Barbara showed up the most.

All of these vehicles are saved on the same save, the one I started with.

I moved the green car to Santa Maria just because someone did a lot of work to get it.

This should be a big hit in the upcoming rounds of the CG. Thank you OrionSR for all the work you've done on this.

I finally managed to collected my final proofed GF car of the 3 available without doing any story missions - Michelle's Monster B. Armed with my new knowledge that car Monster can be towed I showed up with a Tow Truck. But as soon as I backed into position Michelle got out, so I grabbed it an ran.

 

All three cars have now been moved to the El Corona garage using GTA Phreak's Monster Recovery technique. Actually, I used his Flint Undrowning zone, but beached the cars south of the LS airport. That spot east of Palomino Creek might work a bit better. I had a lot of trouble getting the Romero to drive through the surface quickly enough that it wouldn't drown again.

 

The Romero was also particularly difficult to undrown. It is a bit top heavy so when it finally undrowns it falls upside down and explodes. I used the cliff wall to assist in keeping it upright, then it rolled down the hill and fell off the edge of the planet. I got it eventually, but I kind of wish I had one with a coffin in back.

Did you try with the Towtruck ?

You can undrown the Towtruck and the hook up the still floating car and tow it.

It might not work with all cars, it depends on the angle it floats at. I can't get it to work with airplanes.

 

If it's possible then you can probably find somewhere where it can be reversed up on the beach, - the Towtruck probably can't make it with something on tow. Or you can try to do a drive-by undrowning wink.gif

 

Also forget about the Panopticon, use the Flint 69 truckstop spot. (It's even in unrestricted territory)

I used the Panopticon because I found it difficult to push the Monster around and I didn't want the helicopters to shoot it up.

You lost me there. Um... I guess I'd better try it before asking questions.

 

I was using the undrowning zone shown in the image linked below. I don't know the Flint undrowning zones very well and this one had a very distinct grass pattern to help me find my bearings. It's also the first one I came across when heading back from SF. The main disadvantage is being on the east edge of the map - a rolling car can escape. It's also quite small. An advantage is the steep slope leading down the cliff. With brakes and handbrakes applied it's possible to ease it down and drop the vehicle pretty close to the zone.

And yeah, Panopticon didn't work out well. The Monster is hard to push and it's a long haul. Then I tried to beach it at the CG underwater USJ and drowned again as I approached. The Monster is a bit tall for that route. I'd have been better off beaching at Toreno's ranch and driving over the rail of the Mako Span.

 

I was starting to consider a Tow Truck for that Romero. However, towing under 4 star conditions is tough. I'm not sure the Tow Truck could survive the trip (they are quite durable though). I was counting on the proofing to keep the vehicle safe. Oh hey! Doesn't a tractor spawn in the area of the truck stop? Maybe: dump the Romero and run back for a tractor - if they sink. The truck stop would solve the rolling off the planet problem since it would be aimed into the bay.

 

I was worried about undrowning the Police Rancher. Which one to undrown with so many floating about? So I took a few pot shots at my first guess - but it exploded. I was a bit surprised. I thought the vehicles don't take more damage when drowned. Perhaps that only applies to aircraft? Anyway, shooting the Police Rancher while it was sinking was a dumb idea. I couldn't get enough speed to beach it with 4 flat tires.

What I meant was that towing a floating vehicle through an undrowning zone would probably prevent the vehicle towed from ending up on it's back once undrowned (but I'm not sure I've tried that).

The 69 truckstop spot is definitely large enough to make it feasible.

 

As for 4* durability I've had no problems by driving the towtruck along the S motorway, - but I'm not sure that I've done it while towing something (but hooking up the chasing cops is quite fun).

 

It's only aircraft that doesn't take visible damage while in the water, in fact destroyed AI aircraft look undamaged once they drop in the water (snapping them with the camera will reveal their true state).

 

Meh, - you can forget about towing a floating Romero, that thing is tail-heavy like the stiff bought it from lead poisoning.

 

However the principle still works, - you just need to push it at a steady pace with another vehicle from the underside. That way it stays tilted the right way and lands on its wheels when it undrowns.

 

I couldn't get enough speed to land it on Santa Maria beach, but it only took a little pushing (turning it sideways seems to work best).

 

Scrap that. It's fairly easy to undrown it by running push (don't worry about flattening CJ, that somehow never happens with undrowning). Just make sure it's properly lined up.

 

It can be recovered without pushing here: (luckily it's FW drive)

Yeah, okay. Thanks, Phreak. That helps a lot. That 69 truckstop undrowning zone is working out great. The stars can bleed off, it's large area and easy to locate on the radar map, there's a bank to drive down and drop the vehicle close to the cliff, the floor is fairly level, the car can't roll off the map, and the cliff is sloped nicely for keeping the Romero upright. What else can we hope for?

 

That beaching location at Verona Beach was working out great for the Romero, but when I tried it with a Monster and Police Rancher they drowned before they could reach the shore. So I went back to the beach south of the airport (anything along the east/west section of freeway) and had pretty good success with all 6 test vehicles. The only car that has a little difficulty is the Romero, but now that I know what I'm up against I was able to gain plenty of speed heading east before turning north to beach the car. I'm hoping that the same basic description will work for all 6 cars.

Yeah it's a combination of slope and depth that has to be right for a successful landing of a specific vehicle.

Just pop around the corner to paint away remaining *'s (the low wall shouldn't stop it)

 

For the Police Rancher simply aim for the Santa Maria safehouse.

I have an unconfirmed method of making the jealous girlfriend get out of her car every time she appears, there by completely avoiding the hassle of Tow truck. This is specifically for obtaining a proofed jealous GF vehicle in restricted areas.

 

This method works better with a car than a two-wheeler. This is how it can be done;

 

- Take a car and meet the available girlfriend. As soon as she sits beside you, move outside the red marker and go a small distance forward. Immediately she would ask CJ to take her back home.

 

- Now slowly reverse but don't rush and wait for the jealous girlfriend to appear.(50% possibility if two timing not disabled as discussed earlier in the topic)

 

- If the jealous girlfriend appears, take the car towards the red marker and stop just short of entering it. Timing is the key here. Enter the Red marker just when the jealous GF is almost hitting your car. The dated GF will be now standing in front of her house but before she says anything the cut scene should shift to the jealous girlfriend showing her dissatisfaction.

 

- When the cut scene ends just back your car to nudge the jealous GF's car to make her step out of her vehicle leaving you to jack her proofed car.

 

In one of my attempts where i followed the exact procedure mentioned above, I was dating Barbara & Michelle appeared but she drove off in her Monster but got out not far from Barbara's house as i followed her in a Sadler and gently rammed her vehicle. Once the Monster was obtained it was a piece of cake taking it back to LS using the Mako Span bridge.

 

In the same way i have been able to obtain Barbara's Pol Rancher & Michelle's Monster in SF when i dated Katie, both vehicles in Doherty.

 

I was able to acquire Katie's Romero in a similar fashion, but couldn't get it back to LS from LV.

You could try undrowning the Romero at Hanky Panky Point and then beaching it near the broken bridge. The slope is awfully steep but the Romero isn't that hard to push. I also tried the Hampton Barns undrowning zone but the Romero couldn't climb the grade near the Mako Span and tended to roll over and get stuck on the northern gap.

 

I hope your nudging method works. I keep trying that but get very inconsistent results. Sometimes they drive off in a hurry, and sometimes they try to ram the car. Strangely enough, I have my best luck when I nudge them with a Tow Truck.

 

Phreak, your knowledge of the sea floor continues to amaze me. If you had to recommend one location to beach all 6 vehicles, where would that be? My interest is in keeping the description short. System Error doesn't care for long winded explanations. However, I suspect the recovery method might be a bit over the top and not included anyway.

Err, I usually just use the bit of beach below the Santa Maria safehouse, it works with most decently fast cars.

If that doesn't work, I have a look around that beach area for a better place (it has a wide variety of gentle slopes and flat parts for acceleration). And if I fail it won't take long to set up another attempt.

 

If you're looking for a more general method, then try looking for places that reliably teleports your car back on dry land when you go off the edge of the world (we are glitch exploiting anyway). I haven't experimented much with that except by accident, but likely candidates are places where the edge is close to dry (and unrestricted) land.

For instance the spot where you lost a car to grey hell, if you had been in it you most likely would have respawned in the car on the cliff above.
