Versityle
I do apologize if this is a tiring topic, although I wouldn't know, I'm new to this. Seeing how Microsoft unfairly claimed the rights to the two GTA IV DLC's, (or for what it seems) I need to go now and borrow my cousin's Xbox 360 in exchange for my Ps3... What I'd do for GTA. So a simple temporary swap right? Shouldn't cost me anything but the DLC's themselves, make sense. However, if I want to experience the full game that would include the multiplayer features as well right? I don't think I'm asking too much there. So I have a router connected to my internet so it shouldn't be a proble... Oh wait! Wait! Damn, you need to buy the Network Wireless Adapter separately. Okay, fine, that could explain why the Xbox is so cheap anyway compared to the Ps3, so how much does it cost? $99.99!!!??? What!? WHAT!? It's like someone looked at the price of $79.99 and said "damn, that's expensive, it might as well be $100" and them some douche gave in. 100 dollars? Really? Is it worth THAT much!? I mean if you're going to go expensive then at least go... $79.99. I can get get routers and computer WI-FI connectors for cheaper than that. I can buy the RockBand Special Edition with $99.99. I can even get a Ps2 slim for $99.99. But no I have to spend it on one measly little bridge just so that I can do what I already could do with the Ps3. And in case you're wondering, I can't get my computer and my Ps3 any closer than where I have it, it's just the unfortunate set up of my house. Don't get me wrong, I love my house, I'm very grateful, God don't spite me. Okay so fine, it might be worth it if it performs well and God knows I really want to play The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony... What I'd do for GTA. So wouldn't that be good enough. I have an internet connection, and I have an online ID those are the only two essentials needed to play online anywhere on anything. Not... for... Microsoft... There you are, internet working, online ID signed in, all you need to do is access multiplayer, but something prohibits you. What!? What can possibly prohibited you... What is honestly left out that you can't access the game, what else is needed? A Gold Membership? What the hell is THAT!!!??? Seriously. Why? I need to know? What is the purpose? What's wrong with one membership? Isn't multiplayer included in the purchase of the game? Why do I have to spend 24-60 bucks to pay for something that I've already paid for? It doesn't make sense! Not only is it the price that bothers me, what about the convenience. Once you sign on, you should be done, but having to renew every year, come on! People are going to pay for content from the Marketplace anyway so why the hell pay to WALK into a store with additional payments of whatever you purchase? Maybe having exclusive features for Gold is okay but you CANNOT deprive a player of content that's already included in the price of the game itself. I mean wouldn't you agree? Just imagine PAYING for a club membership, then PAYING to get in the club, then PAYING for food at the club then PAYING to EAT the food at the club? That's Xbox to a tee! Or at least that's what it feels like. Not to mention that I can't use my blue-tooth headset I use for my Ps3. God forbid I don't use Xbox's exclusive headset. I can't recharge my controller through the system, I either have to by batteries every month or pay for a charge kit. Talk about inconvenience. I get the feeling Microsoft paid for those DLC's just so that they can screw fans out of their money and I'm just another sucker giving in. ...What I'd do for GTA. Punk-in-Drublic
Its a mere £40 per year, which is about £3 a month, dont be such a cheap skate and pay the money. Either that or continue to complain to people who couldnt care less.
Banana
Paying for Xbox Live is what gets you these exclusives like TLaD and BoGT. Anyways is $50 bucks a year that[/] much? The games cost more than the membership.
Eminence
I think you ordered your complaints wrong. Paying for the gold membership? It's unnecessary, but it's not that bad. Oh well, just do it. Having to splash out 100 bucks for the wireless adapter? That's f*cking daylight robbery. When I had an XBox, that's what stopped me from going online with it. No way was I paying that amount for a piece of sh*t that probably wouldn't function as competently as any other network adapter on the market. f*ck that sh*t. And on that note, f*ck the GTA DLCs. I'll stick with my built in wifi and I'll play other games.

Not like this. Consoles as a whole are rip offs (except for the Wii). Exactly, but I bought a 360 because microsoft owned Rareware and Bungie and Gears of war was out. I bought the 360 because of the exclusive games. Paying 50 dollars every 12 month isn't that bad for such an excellent online service, especially with the quantity of people there are on xbox live. The wireless adapter is your fault.
Machida
Xbox live is supported by the credit cards of parents who are unaware they're being swindled and their children who just don't care. Unfortunately, there's enough of them to keep the thing running. I can't justify paying for Xbox Live, so simply, I don't.
james227uk
Couldn't this just go in the 360 topic? And why bother with the Wifi adapter? Just Ethermet it into your PC. (except for the Wii) That was just fanboyism at most
Enjoii
To put it simply, you get what you pay for. You get an online system that, yes, is way ahead of PSN. Paying to use their service, especially at the price that it is, really isn't that bad. Yes, I agree that the wireless adapter is over-priced, but they have the captive audience for the product. Although bear in mind that there are other ways to get online using wireless.
CharmingCharlie
Don't want it then don't buy it. Really it couldn't get any simpler than that could it.
