A Fix For Violence?

Hey people, just lately I have felt more angry overall. Either today or tomorrow, I'm getting a new graphics card. So I haven't really been playing GTA IV on the card I currently have. I am just looking forward to being able to shoot someone. It's weird, I almost have a need to hurt someone/something. Obviously not in real life, but overall I have been quicker to snap if my brother or whoever pisses me off.

Does anyone think that a fix for violence even exists? If so, why, and do you kinda need one - say, you're playing a computer game?

Weird topic I know, but still..

Err, you could go play sports! I think that helps. I'm not a violent person at all so I don't really have many experience with it. But yeah I heard that it could be a violent behavoir exhaust for some people.

A solution to violence? I would deserve a Noble Prize if I ever found out one.

If you tend to get angry easily, find yourself a hobby or something that can distract you when you're about to get angry. Think of something else, start counting numbers or whatever; learn better self control so that you don't have to necessarily resort to violence all the time.

Yeah girishb, you're right.

Weird thing is I am not a violent person or quick-tempered at all, It's weird. Just lately I've felt quicker to snap. Not that anything has pissed me off particularly.

The solution to violence would require humans to not be greedy. As it is though, the world is so f**ked up that simply by living a normal life you are probably unwittingly helping to perpetuate somebody elses misery somewhere in the world several times a day.

I think bad parenting, under performing schools, bad neighbourhoods, lack of opportunities and a lack of inspiration are all factors in the youth becoming violent people.

Actually, most if it is the media. Which makes it seem that being a failure makes you cool.

The kids, they listen to the rap music

Then maybe they should change to De La Soul.

When I mean fix, I don't mean it in like repair terms. I mean a fix, like a drug fix, instead it's a violence fix.

Ride your bike, take a drive, another hobby, browse the internet for something funny.

Nah it's not me lol. I'm just asking people on what their opinions are. This isn't a help-me thread tounge.gif

E.G, do you think people can actually get addicted to violence etc?

Sounds like a rise in testosterone levels. Actually it's not the test itself, but the conversion of test into estrogen that causes mood swings and bitchiness.

But yeah, if sluaghtering hoards of people in video games helps put you at ease, then I see no problem. It's worked for me for a long time now and I'm not a violent person otherwise either.

Biggest factor to me seems that some kids are just plain retarded. Bad childhood and the likes are good excuses for such behaviour though. dozingoff.gif

Personal accountability, bad people make themselves. It's just easier to do bad sh*t in bad places. Making excuses for those who aren't utterly helpless is pointless imo. If someone's an asshole, or miserable, 9 times out of 10 it's fundamentally their own fault.

@topic guy: There is a natural "bloodlust" in all people. Hence: football, gladiators, video games, fisticuffs, dueling, war. I figure violence jonesing is just the most primal urge in our human need to compete. Watching violence will not really give you a "fix" though. Go play, in a competitive manner. You'll feel more even-steven.

That's Jack Thompson logic.

maybe you're diabetic monocle.gif

High blood glucose levels will make a person very irritated, but the physical signs such as dry mouth, frequent urination, blurred vision, etc. would make it obvious that something isn't right.

Other violence fixes would be a punching bag, lifting weights or anything to get the blood circulating.

Welcome to Puberty son; you're going to be out of control pissed off and horny for the next few years. Try not to punch anyone in authority and do your best to get your end away.....although don't combine the anger and the labido. Then you have yourself a nasty rape case.

Now, do you want me to tell you all about the birds and the bees? Take a seat...

Thats not neccesarily true, i have had a good upbringing, i live in a nice area and i have plenty of opportunitys at my feet, still doesnt change the fact that i enjoy fighting.

Pick a fight with someone weaker than you icon14.gif

But then they'll bring an AK-47 to class and mass murder-suicide with everyone.

Do you guys care to read the topic? It's not me that has the problem I was simply asking if you guys believed there is such thing as a FIX (like crackheads need crack) for violence.

It's fun to derail from the topic.

I guess there is a fix for violent behavior. But it seems like a natural thing.

There is no real fix, being Violent is natural, we're pretty much very smart animals, animals fight over territory, etc, it's just our instincts making us do that.

I find it amusing that this question is being asked in a forum dedicated to "Grand Theft Auto", a game series dedicated to crime and extreme violence. I think you guys know where I am going with this.....

"One day I will think of this as just another job. After all, this is what I do."

I've had anger issues since I was a wee person but I find kicking a ball outside, playing violent video games or punching a bag helps relieve stress. Do whatever helps you relieve stress. And if you ever feel sad, listening to good music or watching good comedy helps.

Oh that's easy, just watch a movie that makes you laugh and feel good.
