Rhoda
I'm going to say this while the trailer and the general air of excitement is fresh in people's heads, anticipation probably the most overactive emotion on this board. I've seen the trailer a total of 4 times now, and each one I keep thinking about GTAIV's humble origins all the way back in April 2008, where we saw a quiet, reserved but very deadly immigrant pound the streets of Liberty. The city was our playground. When released, the buzz was massive. I remember playing it for the first time thinking "this is huge, this is going to mean something". For whatever reason I knew IV was going to be remembered, though I wasn't sure how when other excellent games have faded in obscurity. GTA had avoided it every time. Now you're probably wondering what I'm on about and what this has to do with BGOT, but your patience has been rewarded. While thousands and thousands of people salivated over IV, many were disappointed at the lack of excitement. Clearly San Andreas had left a good impression on GTA fans, delivering what they thought was the most amazing experience Rockstar could muster. This upcoming episode is going to solve all that. I don't know if this has been the eventual plan all along, but what I do is that Rockstar knew just how little they offered us first. They aren't likely to spoil us straight away. They've dealt with it well, considering they've now developed two more full games worth of extra features, characters, vehicles and experiences. All in all, GTAIV has finally given everyone a slice. For all those that moaned at first complaining the city just wasn't vibrant or exciting enough, this is their chance to go just a little bit daft until the next time, with exploding cranes, flaming golf carts and guns that would blow holes in the side of a Boeing 747. Thanks for reading, I know I can ramble but I just felt like I had to say it. Cheers.
DrAnomalous
Expectations do end up going a little crazy when people can't wait to play one of these games or episodes in this case, but I wasn't disappointed in IV. Even when sanan came out people had made unrealistic expectations based on pure speculation. I would rather have GTA have more attention to detail with what it has than the steaming pile of sh*t that SR2 is.
Leo Colt
I prefer things to be done right, which I why I don't have a problem with waiting. It was inevitable that we would eventually get this stuff back, so my patience is being rewarded. Everyone seems to want things NAOW, but if some of this stuff was in vanilla GTA IV, then it probably wouldn't be as interesting or as polished as it is/will be now. Enjoii
Yeah, it certainly seems like we will be seeing the crazier side of the game with this episode. Parachuting, sky-lifting train carriages, and golf carts. If R* felt that they couldn't pull this off in the actual game and could only add it in after refining it through a set of DLC, that's fine by me. Rhoda
If R* felt that they couldn't pull this off in the actual game and could only add it in after refining it through a set of DLC, that's fine by me. Good notion, though I've been thinking, and I'm really not that bothered that things are presented in this way. If we would have gotten all this at the very start, almost 18 months ago, things would have ground to a halt around about now, leaving a large gap between releases. Someone finally relizes this!
