Hey people, is there a reason why you can't pick all songs from the radio? You can only choose from about 30, and in the main game there's like 100 songs. Also, can you add your own music to the replay editor, or will I have to add my music later in movie maker or something?

To use the songs with the video editor Rockstar has to negotiate a license for their usage. I understand some artists/companies were more willing than others. So the songs you can use in the video editor are from singers/bands/record companies that agreed to the new licensing terms. The songs you can't use but can hear in the game obviously didn't agree to letting their music be used with videos.

 

This is also the reason why you cannot add "your" own music to the videos. You technically don't have a license to use other people's music from your collection (you only have a license to listen to the music personally). So Rockstar probably didn't include the feature to add custom music to the videos to protect themselves.

Which is a pity, I might add. I don't really like most of the musics you have on the video editor, and I would like to do some videos with musics that unfortunately can only be heard on the radio. At first I thought something was wrong (like they had forgotten to put all musics ), but then I realized what CharmingCharlie just posted.

 

Btw, and I know this is off-topic, but is there any chance of placing more than one song on the same video? Everytime I try to add another song to the video, the one I have is replaced with the one I'm dragging, and I end up with 1 song only... some videos require more music but I can't add it... and no, adding later on with a video editor is not a solution, because I like to "conjugate" the scenes (angles and timing) with the music.

just wanted to add that there are 98 songs I believe, and not just 30 in the VE

 

and yes is a shame the missings songs, like Philip Glass one, or the Kanye West flashing lights
