Why you're getting angry at him is beyond any of us gamers, go troll elsewhere please.

This place is for GTA IV: TBoGT fans.

Edit: @T1H8C7,

Good on you mate! smile.gif Made a wise decision, enjoy R* Norths's efforts by way of the DLC episodes! wink.gif

You don't even know what trolling means. I presented arguments of why I think this is more about money and not about fans and all people can do is whine about how I talk about their precious Rockstar. I even said it's good business wise, for f*ck sake, stop sucking rockstars balls. See for a minute outside the idiotic consumer mind for once.

'It's not what we want, it's what the Housers and other Rockstar creative execs want.'

But if this realy is their ethos, then it has bitten them in the ass. It started to sink in pretty quickly after the initial hype of IV, that there were serious chunks of features missing. In my opinion, it was about what MS wanted from a very early stage once this deal was struck. They stumped up the cash and they want to milk the series for all they can. Rightly so, but only from a buisness point of view.

The dating system was pointless in SA and it remains pointless in IV. And as for improving it because theyre perfectionists, this time there isnt even a cutscene for each date. Meanwhile, we lost car mods, parachutes (until now) most of the stores are placeholder, and the new activities arent freely available outside the dating system. The list goes on...

Really? It doesn't seem to me that Rockstar has done anything wrong or alienated fans. GTA IV sold more copies upon release than any other game and the TLAD became the #1 selling DLC. BOGT looks to maybe even shatter the record that TLAD set. Yeah, R* really bit themselves in the ass...

Satch: Youre talking on behalf of the 360 owners, of which Im also one.

Of course it sold millions, it was hyped like it was the second coming of christ, and everyone had visions of a next gen SA. Coupled with the fact that the fanboys would probably purchase an empty sack if it had R* written on it.

Fanbase wise, take a look around. PS3 owners are pissed because they got shafted on the DLC, and now it's looking like a DLC half the price of IV is going to trump it hands down. So I would say, yes quite a few folk are alienated. Plus theyl have to wait 2-3 years until the next GTA to see if it happens again.

^ You have to understand his frustration though, many on this forum beleive R* to be the equivalent of Santa in bloody Lapland.

In a nutshell, they literally sold out to MS who will now milk the series to hell, all to beat Sony in the console war. So people, stop lapping it up like theyre doing you all a favour.

Your ALWAYS going to have certain stuff exclusive to certain platforms. I actually didn't have a next-gen console before GTA IV and I decided to buy a 360 because of the DLC and game lineup they had for the platform. There are still PS3 exclusive games I'd REALLY want to play (MLB The Show, MGS4, etc), but I decided to go with the XBOX so I can live with it. If are a PS3 owner and you can't live without the DLC, get a job (or pickup more hours) and go buy an Xbox 360. $300 isn't exactly a "hard to obtain" amount.

I understood these kinds of issues would arise and I was a man about it, I went and purchased myself all 3 gaming consoles so I don't come to such a section of these fine forums and just post hatred here.

Life ain't fair, we adjust ourselves around it/ bear with it, complaining won't change anything.

This guy seems to think Agent will destroy GTA, honestly I don't care if it does because I'll buy that too!

Rockstar sold out to Microsoft, of course they did. But for 50 million. I don't think any business would refuse. It sucks for people who own a PS3 like myself. This stuff should of been in Gta IV from the beginning, but In my opinion they didn't put put this stuff into Gta IV to begin with because they knew if they put it in the DLC it would sell like sh*t!

All us PS3 owners know its a kick in teeth, but Sony must be partly to blame for not jumping at the chance themselves. Also, i would never buy an Xbox anyway. And especially just for a DLC.... My 60 GB broke so I'm buying another PS3 soon, the slim. f*ck Microsoft total rip offs and charge for anything.

It`s ironic, but IV, TLAD and BOGT could have all fitted on one blu-ray disk. Perhaps we should stop calling the original IV `Vanilla`, and start calling it `Skinny`

Partly? More like completely at fault (if anyone can actually be faulted. This is business after all). From my understanding they were offered this opportunity first (maybe to make up for the loss of exclusivity), but turned it down? Either way, Sony wasn't doing enough, which is why Microsoft's offer was so readily accepted. Then Sony got all butthurt and acted like it was no big deal, when they could have been off secruing some exclusive content of their own. They just weren't doing enough for their customers.

You're right. All they care is making a multimedia thing to put after your hi-end TV. Who uses blu-ray anyway. I can't afford to buy movies for about 30-40$ (in my country, maybe in other countries they are cheaper). Sony fu*ked up with exclusives losing every game they had. They lost Final, MGS, GTA.

And if someone want to call me an xbox fan I must say that I have this console for about three weeks and I'm happy like a baby. I completed TLAD, I play Forza at the moment (bettet than Gran Turismo)

I also have PS3 and there isn't single game that is worth buying this console.

Just for the record, Im a 360 owner, so I have no bitterness about content. And of course, I fully agree that the money talks, and it's a huge business. But, did R* really need to pull the deal in the first place? It's like baiting to the highest bidder and selling a lot of customers short on the game experience. It's only MS really reaping the rewards at the end of the day.

If everyone had access to download 4 new features at 5$/£ a piece for example, its still the same 20 profit for Rockstar, but nobody gets left with a half arsed IV. It seems pretty blatant, looking at the features on TBOGT, that 'the icing on the cake' was always going to be held back until the opportune time. There's no blaming tech issues any more

@Leo: I dont really blame Sony either for turning it down. If you think of the proposal 'on paper', Sony werent in great shape after losing a fortune on the PS3 launch/manufacturing, then R* come along and ask for $50mill for two extra chunks of story. Too much of a gamble at the time.

There's nothing left to do then be happy about it smile.gif

I'm selling my Saint's Row then, I can find happyness again in Liberty City! Yahoo!

I'll sound off on PS3 owner's gripes. The tech issues you mention, they were very much at the inception of this endeavor, and having the workable tools for the Xbox, it was used to showcase the builds over time as well as get the exclusive, however, Sony had opportunity as was mentioned but declined, not having faith in the online ordering and downloading method of gaming, it was something they were not fully committing to, and it is also something many single game players still want, less emphasis on MultiPlayer and a strong Single player aspect with regard per game.

Rockstar were just throwing their first ring in this field, and that happened to entail two episodes with a grand plan to add to LC in the scope of the virtual world setting.

Proving they were successful, PS3 owners are really feeling pinched now, but at the early stage, there was much doubt about what they could even do!

Everyone, even Sony puts money bags in front of Developers face to get exclusive content on multiplatorm games. Look at what Sony did with Batman: Arkum Asylum. PS3 owners get to play as Joker with their version of the game, leaving 360 owners out of it.

I'm a huge DC Comics fan and i wouldn't mind playing as Joker. I'm not even gonna mention DC Universe Online, which is only for PS3 & PC.

I dunno Slamman, R* must have had a fair idea in mind of what they could feasibly sell online, tech wise. But for sure they knew what features would tempt people to download extra content. I think the fact that there is now a physical double pack, shows that MS and R* know that TLAD would have been toast in terms of single sales after Oct 29th.

It's not what we want, it's what the Housers and other Rockstar creative execs want. The feature set in GTA IV seems a lot like the developers' reaction to San Andreas and not the fans' reaction. The car wash, for example. It was almost in San Andreas but didn't work and got cut. So they made sure it was in IV. I don't think that's a conspiracy to delay a more popular feature to sell DLC, I think that's perfectionist artists determined to get their way. Same thing with the dating/friendship system. It was introduced in San Andreas but only with girlfriends and not main characters, so you finish the game and can't spend any time with people you're actually supposed to care about. Again, it feels like something Rockstar wanted to do because they didn't get it quite right the first time. Just like IV is a remake of Liberty City because Rockstar felt they didn't get it quite right the first time. It's their show and we keep paying for it, so rather than listen to what random fan #6483839 wants, they're going to listen to what they want.

I agree with this, because it's backed up from interviews with Sam Houser himself, but the real reasoning is Sam had specific ideas he wanted, and those in turn, were springboarded with fellow Rockstar North team members, I can't believe you guys who are regulars actually forgot all this information here already! It was not so long ago, even I remember it! biggrin.gif

@gtafan: So your own mouth is legit?  dozingoff.gif  I'm talking about a real source.

@numdmind: Firstly, read before you post. I said it's business, but don't act like they are doing it more for their fans and not for the love of money. that's what people are confusing here. Secondly, don't even turn this into a political issue. I don't want to start with a conservative loser.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/1955256/Gr...-York-City.html

That level of detail took years.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3161711

I rather beleive R* than some random person online really.

And ofcourse you would go to Rockstar because you're a sucker, so keep being a sucker, man. If it weren't for people like me and others who demand not being taking advantage of, suckers like you would be paying for sh*t games because you believed everything your favorite game developer told you.

About your sources. What? They took pictures in NYC? To take pictures all over Manhattan takes 4 years? What does that prove at all?

Yes they delayed it, and they couldn't add parachutes and weapons because of that? Where is the source in that?

That's it I'm tried of this s*** on this thread.

They said they delayed it so that they could have more time with delevoping the game. Ego they didn't have time to put in little s*** that didn't make a difference ( bikes, planes, parachutes) to the story. And why do you keep calling people who beleive R* suckers? O I'm sorry that I trust a company with a long history of releasing good information against some conspricacy nut job online who says that if you beleive what R* says your basically suckers to the system. And to gather the massive amount of info needed for New York would take years and then to virtualize it would take 4 years. And also anyone knows that to make the average game it takes 2 years. Well GTA 4 wasn't average it was a whole new installment and took a radical step in virtual worlds meaning duh it took longer. You don't seem to get they DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME! Why? These reasons

1. PS3- With the Blu Ray thier were many things delevopers had to learn about the PS3 blu Ray system thus it took them longer to make the game.

2. Scale- It could be agrued GTA was the "largest" in term of content, depth, graphics etc game made to date.

3. New Software- R* basically had to relearn to make a game on the new software programs.

4. Money- GTA 4 was the most expensive game ever made( 100 million dollars). You think they were going to further delay the game and continue to burn money for something as dumb as parachutes? NO

If you want to continue to go along with if you beleive R* your a sucker fine but that means you don't even beleive TBoGT will be released at all huh mercie_blink.gif

Hold up, man, it's not that the parachutes and small items were held up, they decided from reaction, and initial thought to include smaller additions, but Sam had stated prior that things being charged for would be worth it, all in all, for $20, it's impressive to me.

The dating thing will continue because Sam says it reflects the elevated reality of the next gen GTA, at the time he said it, he also said the intent is that you hang out with your Friends in GTA land the same as you do in the real world, the problem is, it's not as free in form as it should be!

Point is Bob, the reason GTA is as huge as it is, isnt for the story at all, but the sandbox elements. So if R* didnt have time to add things like parachutes and tanks at the start, but managed to develop sh*t like dating and a redundant internet feature, means 1. They suddenly forgot what players loved about GTA or 2. They were more interested in whoring the series out and keeping the key elements until later

Theyve always tried something new each game, but some of these 'new features' were just wildly off base, and for some odd reason took place of some essential things

Also going back to the being angry at MS/Sony, why should Rockstar be touting like that in the first place? They made all this noise about 'integrity' and how downloads rip fans off etc. then they go and do the same, and dress it up as story-driven content.
