Care to back that up since you know everything? Tell me where it takes 4 years to add weapons and parachutes.

My claims are about common sense. The PS3 players who bought the PS3 versions aren't getting their DLC, even though they have been loyal. Rockstar just took the 50 mill, you know why? Because f*ck the fans, they want money. They don't give a sh*t about you. You can have your parachute, as long as you pay that 20 dollars.

f*ck the DLC. We get Agent. Also for anyone wondering Agent has been confirmed to be the next gta of sorts. Also like it was said. R* went out with a bang. A bang for who? A bang for M$. That can only mean one thing. That Sony-R* deal wasn't just for Agent. It was for all future R* games. What makes me think this? Well if it wasn't R* would of gave the PS3 some DLC awhile back. Think about it. Would you want to go out with a bang if you were stopping something? Like sometimes when people are getting fired/quit their job they usually do something stupid/something people will remember for awhile. Think about it guys. R* are done with M$ so they give them something to remember.

And besides. GTA IV is dead to me now. Hell the DLC wont even bring it back. Bring on Red Dead Redemption muthafukas.

Your not being serious are you.

Who in their right mind would want to stop working with microsoft.

Thats would mean a hell of a lot of losses for the company, and i really dont think rockstar are that stupid.

Need I remind anyone that GTA IV was delayed six months past its original release date just to get what was in it done? That should shoot down the idea that all these features would have been in the main game if there was no DLC. If you can't see that GTA IV's content took far more man-hours to create than what was in previous GTAs, you don't appreciate what you're looking at.

And if you guys don't see it by now, then I guess only some do and some don't. It right there in front of you. I don't understand people sometimes.

Yes but by releasing their games they are being responsible to give game support to players.

GTA IV (vanilla) is f***ing amazing. better than the previous GTAs by far. and if you dont think that:

1) you are stupid

2) why are you on the GTA IV FORUMS in the first place. go back to your little san andreas or vice city forums. i dont go over there complaining about how much i hate SA.

anyways, back on topic, the 'masses' is not a correct statement. the majority of GTA players think GTA IV is the best. dont believe me? go check gamespot player reviews, etc.

DLCs, do however add to the game. the parachute might be cool, but ill probably only use it once or twice out of the mission (if its available) I just want some more sports cars, and the P90.

Just to beat a dead horse one more time, if R* (and game dev in general) wasn't about money first there wouldn't even be deadlines.

And once the game engine was done, and the map built, and the bugs fixed, it would have taken no time at all to add something as simple as a parachute. But they know better than to give you everything you could want in the first game. Don't kid yourself, R* isn't stupid... they know that by releasing things slowly one step at a time they maximize their profit.

They know that at this point you'll buy anything they make, and all businesses are about maximizing profits -- so you can't say "They made enough money on GTAIV"...What CEO of a company has ever said "We've made enough money this year, lets not try to make more..." ? Hell no, they'll bleed you dry if you let 'em. Those $20 "add-ons" really add up to good profits when millions of people buy 'em.

Nothing against GTA, It's pretty much the only series of games I play anymore, but business is business that was my only point they didn't "give in" to the masses they had this planned all along.

Guanxi, you have a really naive perspective on games companies. The fan base you say doesnt matter, is the people who are buying these products and getting milked for an extra 40 notes just to play features that could have been added from day one.

These DLCs are meant to be system sellers, hence the hugely expensive MS deal. With TLAD, I think yeah you may be right, R* thought 'f*ck it lets do what we like', which was pure complacency. If they had done the same for the second DLC, the MS deal and maybe even the series may have dissapeared up it's own backside.

At the end of the day, enjoy the games, but there's no point pretending it's not all about big business.

But there ARE deadlines, and that means no matter how many features they think of, they can't get them all in by deadline. That is not holding back, that is trying to get done. They can't spend $100 million of other people's money developing a game and wait till it's perfect to put it on sale. The six month delay proves they were willing to take a financial hit to fix whatever problems it would have had it they hadn't delayed. Other companies have refused to allow a delay resulting in a game with massive cuts and bugs. Give Rockstar some credit.

But Al, it all boils down to the initial game design; there are a ton of simple features that if added at the start, would have improved IV's replay value by a mile. 4 Years is ample time, and yet there is still a lot of dead space on the map. Adding stuff like the dating system over what players really want is more than a little suspect.

It's not what we want, it's what the Housers and other Rockstar creative execs want. The feature set in GTA IV seems a lot like the developers' reaction to San Andreas and not the fans' reaction. The car wash, for example. It was almost in San Andreas but didn't work and got cut. So they made sure it was in IV. I don't think that's a conspiracy to delay a more popular feature to sell DLC, I think that's perfectionist artists determined to get their way. Same thing with the dating/friendship system. It was introduced in San Andreas but only with girlfriends and not main characters, so you finish the game and can't spend any time with people you're actually supposed to care about. Again, it feels like something Rockstar wanted to do because they didn't get it quite right the first time. Just like IV is a remake of Liberty City because Rockstar felt they didn't get it quite right the first time. It's their show and we keep paying for it, so rather than listen to what random fan #6483839 wants, they're going to listen to what they want.

'It's not what we want, it's what the Housers and other Rockstar creative execs want.'

But if this realy is their ethos, then it has bitten them in the ass. It started to sink in pretty quickly after the initial hype of IV, that there were serious chunks of features missing. In my opinion, it was about what MS wanted from a very early stage once this deal was struck. They stumped up the cash and they want to milk the series for all they can. Rightly so, but only from a buisness point of view.

The dating system was pointless in SA and it remains pointless in IV. And as for improving it because theyre perfectionists, this time there isnt even a cutscene for each date. Meanwhile, we lost car mods, parachutes (until now) most of the stores are placeholder, and the new activities arent freely available outside the dating system. The list goes on...

Lol you are pathetic. Agent? Are you stupid or something, this nonsense really is getting out of hand with the PS3 kids that cannot stand Microsoft's DLC. It is very simple Microsoft will continue to enjoy as much of GTA as the PS3 does, whether that be GTA V in late 2010/early 2011 we'll just have to wait and see.

As for Agent I may buy it, but to be honest Take Two's other asset 2K Czech is making a rather interesting title by the name of Mafia II, there's also that other title called L.A. Noire who know's when thats out.

Do yourself a favour kid and admit to yourself first that you know you want the DLC, rather than post some pathetic comment about Agent in a GTA: TBOGT Forum that is only available to Xbox 360, when you clearly don't own one.

Oh and remember this early sales showed the Xbox 360 was outselling in a ratio of 65% to PS3's 35% which was roughly 7 million to 3 million units, who know's what it's at now, but R* will sure want those 7 million Xbox 360 customer's for their next rendition of Grand Theft Auto.

yeah, but that same huge mass of fans still bought the game. i wouldn't say i'm disappointed.

all in all it's about that cash, not pleasing everyone.

even if vanilla IV had all that, there'd still be that gloomy gus out there that would still complain.

I doubt it seeing as saints row 2 outdid Vanilla IV so i think R* will try to outdo them.

@Magic_Al: I'm sure they could have given us a parachute and left out the countless hours of pointless in-game television. It took them 4 years 'cause they did stupid sh*t like that...

@johnwelshmorris5: Comparing GTA and SR2 is like apples and oranges...One is more in-depth while the other is more feature rich, neither "outdid" the other (maybe in sales but not in gameplay). Mind you if R* wanted to they could have blown them away by being both in-depth and feature rich.

@blowdro420: Screw storytelling, if I wanted a story I'd read a book or watch a movie...I play 'cause I wanna shoot cops in the face and bust innocent heads open.

But that being said I agree with the sentiment that most of the features in SR2 are pointless or downright retarded

did i say that? did i say that it was everything?

i'm sure everyone wants somewhat decent graphics.

i mean after all, we all for the most part own 360's or PS3's.

most of the games have pretty good graphics.

saint's row's just too kiddie for me.

besides if i wanted the "gangsta" i'll go play SA.

Others have made that argument but consider that you can't trade one for the other: the people with the high-end skill to make the parachute feature were probably busy tweaking ped behavior, or how you fly through a windshield, or how you fall down stairs. The TV content could be made by non-programmers, anybody who can do animation and video editing. It's possible the TV content exists because programming and technology was taking so long and people in the media department had time to kill.

The DLC was initially not intended for the PS3 gamers (maybe never, maybe for a particular amount of time), blame Sony for that, not MS! Sony should have followed their older footsteps and co*k blocked MS from GTA IV with a timed exclusivity deal! Like they did with GTA III and Vice City! Oh yes, Sony actually played this game first and MS just retaliated this gen... wink.gif

I'm not just getting a parachute for $20, I'm getting a full blown Single Player campaign made by R* North that ties in with the stories of Niko Bellic and Johnny Klebitz in Liberty City! smile.gif

I also get Agent (if it's any good) because I also have a PS3. wink.gif

As for Sony getting all future GTA games, I'll have to wait on that one, considering MS has a viable gaming platform with the 360 this generation, Sony dictating to developers how things must play out is over! They're currently in last place and with pissed off developers, PS3 game versions selling less which means less $$$ for the developers on the PS3 side and bad multi-platform (ports) games, much is left to be desired. Still R* North are great developers and are dedicated to working with the Cell and RSX processors to achieve something great with Agent, I hope unlike GTA IV, memory constraints do not result in a sub HD res game with more frame rate hiccups and more jagged edges (even with the lower resolution) and the delay which eld us all back from playing GTA IV earlier.

RDR will be awesome as will Agent & Max Payne 3 imo.

Wow someone didnt get his morning nap. Youd think with all of the other pressing matters in the world you would find something else to complain about, yet you trash game developers whom youve never met nor have any information as to why they have done the things they have done. I personally dont care about the motives behind their actions. If a PS3 owner is that upset about not getting DLC then they will go to their local merchant and purchase a XBOX 360, a copy of

GTA IV pat themselves on the back and call it a day. How do I know this you ask? Well that's because that is exactly what I did several months ago. Dont forget too breathe and you probably sshouldnt speak unless spoken too. Have a great day.
