What Roots? Fun? GTA games are always Fun. They just wanted to give it a more realistic tone... which I didn't mind at All! Because GTA IV was Great. Now it's Greater. Big_Mitch_Baker
It's simple marketing, if they added all these features in vanilla IV then what could they add to make you buy the DLCs? R* may be in the business of 'fun', but it is a business like any other (all about the money)

Cilogy
It seems more like an end of show party to me, going out with a bang, so to speak. That's true. Atleast that's what USA Today also said. They said the journey for GTA IV is going out with a bang. I guess this means we can expect information on the next GTA during 2010.

Leo Colt
It seems more like an end of show party to me, going out with a bang, so to speak. This. Although I kind of understand what Dan Houser meant. Niko was small time. Johnny had big gang warfare. Luis has major heists. I love the Vice City vibe they've got going there though. Guanxi
I'm not sure that I agree with the position that R* have compromised themselves by in anyway by *giving in* as it were to any form of real or perceived pressure in lights of fan complaints on message boards. They always create games they want to play and we're all basically welcome to come along for the ride but they don't even have a forum for christ's sake. GTA IV was very much their baby as is BoGT. They simply wanted BoGT to have a different feel to GTA IV which is completely understandable; even from a business perspective. San Houser mentions in USA Today that the design ethos this time was consciously geared towards classic action movies with more wacky less focused/looser gameplay mechanics similarly akin to San Andreas which is also a product of having more time to spend experimenting with the game design. The extent of fan involvement is basically mute. I don't think they give a flying f*ck what anybody-else thinks and that's what makes them great. It's possible but I think it's more likely R* didn't have time to put these things in at first ( they already had to delay the game) so they ended up delaying the unneeded features to the DLC content. I think they put the parachutes and things in TBoGT because it fit more and because they scheduced it for later so they would have more time to prefect things like parachuting or the new weapons or whatever esle will be in game. With the MASSIVE profits they make from GTA 4 and the fact that they have ALREADY been paid for the Mircosoft content regardless if it had new things or not they just didn't have time. Three years to make the most detailed virtual world ever made, create a TOTALLY new physics engine, write thousands of hours of spricits, go through thousands of hours of testing, spricit thousands of A.I and they were even late! With all of that behind my side of the argument what are you suggesting? They held out on content for monetary reasons even though they already got paid? buffalosoulj4h20
Care to back that up since you know everything? Tell me where it takes 4 years to add weapons and parachutes. My claims are about common sense. The PS3 players who bought the PS3 versions aren't getting their DLC, even though they have been loyal. Rockstar just took the 50 mill, you know why? Because f*ck the fans, they want money. They don't give a sh*t about you. You can have your parachute, as long as you pay that 20 dollars.

There's nothing wrong with making profit on something. That's the backbone of our civilization. Capitalism is f*cking great. We're not socialists yet, so every hard-working individual is entitled to their own pursuit of money. R*'s also not in it to f*ck people around. They always have delivered quality, no matter how many of you wanted to hate GTA IV because of it's so called lack of features. GTA IV was still perfect, and they delivered on their end. If you don't like capitalism, then you're in the wrong life.

Also for anyone wondering Agent has been confirmed to be the next gta of sorts. Also like it was said. R* went out with a bang. A bang for who? A bang for M$. That can only mean one thing. That Sony-R* deal wasn't just for Agent. It was for all future R* games. What makes me think this? Well if it wasn't R* would of gave the PS3 some DLC awhile back. Think about it. Would you want to go out with a bang if you were stopping something? Like sometimes when people are getting fired/quit their job they usually do something stupid/something people will remember for awhile. Think about it guys. R* are done with M$ so they give them something to remember. And besides. GTA IV is dead to me now. Hell the DLC wont even bring it back. Bring on Red Dead Redemption muthafukas.
