DrAnomalous Posted September 3, 2009 Share Posted September 3, 2009 I'm down for more options and activiities but sneaking into area 69 is just goofy, so is dressing your protaganist in a gimp suit and running around with a huge dildo. I love the satrical humor in GTA but if they add more features they have to still keep the storyline credible. Now that the graphics and physics are improved the cities appear more real and organic and if goofy options or tasks are just thrown in for the sake of outrageousness it does take you away from caring about the characters or setting. I play it all the time still and have complete the story 4 times now. Everytime I play the story it feels like my first time playing it. And the police chases are outstandingly good. You at least have a chance to get away without having to visit the pay and spray(which is no longer 100% reliable). So intense at times and funny at others. They all kicked arse, but if Niko was there with a gun to my head demanding me to say which is the best it probably would be SA. It had a massive map and incorporated the countryside which I loved. Also, it had depth to it with the vast amount of things, maybe pointless things but things you could do which added to the realism rather than relying on graphics to add to the realism which GTA 4 does. San Andreas had some useless features, they were fun and cool the first time around, but got boring. I guess they just added them because since people were complaining that they got bored half way throug the game they added some useless crap and a bunch of missions. I personally thing GTA4 has more replay value than SA on just that alone, along with the living, breathing city of Liberty. But saying that SA is the absolute worst is a bit harsh. Some silliness is good and offers a break from the serious storyline. IV is mind boggling in environmental detail but has some useless stuff you can't ignore (endless man-dating WTF!, bowling, darts, duh!) and a lot less than SA. Hopefully the next gen will improve on the IV engine much the same way as previous titles improved on each other and you will see more of the features we all feel are missing from IV in the next title. I can't say which is best, they are each so good in their own rights. Thanks, R* but for God's sake finally give us a fixed chase cam view! It strips all the bullsh*t mini filler that VC and SA contained, took the basis of III and completely reveamped it. There is a reason why its considered IV as opposed to GTA:(enter subtitle here). I'm sure as more GTA in this era are released, they'll begin to look more like SA did, but IV is a clean slate; A true Sequel and continuation of the series. So yeah, I'd say IV is the most favorable IMHO. Its weird though, I used to be in the "SA is best" camp. My first playthrough of IV was a bit rushed as I am an achievement whore and I wanted the one where you completely the game in 30 hours. But going through the game a 2nd time, I realized just how detailed the world of IV was as compared to SA was. In IV, I want to walk around like a normal citizen of Liberty, walking around the city, driving casually. It really is a world of its own, even more indepth than entire fantasy worlds like Fallout or the Elderscrolls. SA...err....well it was detailed for its time and well, still kind of is compared to most current gen games, but it dosen't present the sense of disbelief that IV did. Sure, I tested my self to see how long I could "act" normal in Los Santos, or San Fierro, but I always found myself running around, jacking cars, being the crimnal that I am. IV I loved to just take the taxis and sit in the back, or take a train and view the city from above (or below if it went underground.) IV is seriously the most realized game world I've seen. Chances are IV would have many many more 'haters'. Well the same thing can be said if IV was given a tri city state with a heap of features like SA. Anyway I think Vice City is the best GTA, but GTA IV is the best game I've played on this gen. I've completed GTA IV 4 times, and the only other next gen game I've bothered to complete is CSI- Hard Evidence on 360 only because it took 3 days to complete. Obviously the combat controls and graphics are far superior on GTA4 but I loved the way that VC pulled you into the game by accquiring better properties throughout the game ending up with a Scarface mansion! IV is obviously the better game but because of the amount of stuff you can do and what you can do, SA will be preferred by allot of people. The graphics and physics itself blow the rest out of the water. Now I love SA also, the car mods, the gym, the gang recruiting, all that is awesome, but the graphics, physics, and other aspects of the game suck. What really annoys me about SA and the rest is how easy a car will blow up for just being rolled on its top. All cars seem to pretty much handle the same too. Now if they took the country side, the recruit feature, the gym, more clothing options, and the swim under water feature, and mixed it with the graphics and physics of IV, it would be my ideal game. natio Posted October 27, 2009 Share Posted October 27, 2009 I easily think it's the best GTA game and I've been playing these games since the first 2d game I'm not in denial some people seem to be with new games *CAUGH MGS4 FANS CAAAUGHH!!* I seriously think that this is easily the best game Playing San Andreas though makes me wish that IV had a few missions like it, or atleast 1 where you like sneak into apartments and steal stuff. Maybe have a few more stealth missions But this game is easily my favorite and not just because the story is amazing but because of the gameplay, that little realism that was added made this game so much better because it's just so much more tense to be in a car chase now. Having a 4 star wanted level in GTA3,Vice City or San Andreas was fun before, I'm not gonna say it wasn't. But having one in IV is about 10 times more fun, because it's much more tense. Rockstar is truly a team that delivers it pisses me off that people are hating on it, because insulting the rockstar team over what they did with IV is sad, IV deserve the scores it got because it is truly one of the best games ever made, without a doubt. yes it is the bestest game Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

SA has just gone downhill. when i first played it and the fact that You have to steal a jetpack for some hippie that gets you to steal some 'green goo' was just stupid. GTA IV just has the best Environment and doesnt go over the top, plus it has some nice DLC too. The characters were good and the added realism made it hit the top spot, i dont go all hype over GTA IV, i mean Vice City is just a couple of steps behind. Overall though, GTA IV is the best to me. It's a shame, because I like them as designers and I think they're talented at making open world games. But GTA IV, it wasn't enough for me, to make it through to me. As others have pointed out there weren't many variety to the missions in GTA IV, the third act was just a boring disaster, and I was one of the players who loved the extra features of SA. Furthermore, I wish they added a suburban element to the city. All this has made GTA IV a game I had to force myself to complete rather than wanting to complete. That said GTA IV is a lot like GTA III. Rockstar was working out what they could and couldn't do on the next generation consoles. The third game on these consoles will be amazing. Those are just expansions to GTA IV, and if they're anything to go by the next full installment of GTA should be absolutely stunning. That storyline just sucked me in and the Scarface/Carlitos Way based characters and backdrop was too freaking awesome. It's the only GTA worth beating to 100% completion multiple times.
