kgrogfefji82
I easily think it's the best GTA game and I've been playing these games since the first 2d game I'm not in denial some people seem to be with new games *CAUGH MGS4 FANS CAAAUGHH!!* I seriously think that this is easily the best game Playing San Andreas though makes me wish that IV had a few missions like it, or atleast 1 where you like sneak into apartments and steal stuff. Maybe have a few more stealth missions But this game is easily my favorite and not just because the story is amazing but because of the gameplay, that little realism that was added made this game so much better because it's just so much more tense to be in a car chase now. Having a 4 star wanted level in GTA3,Vice City or San Andreas was fun before, I'm not gonna say it wasn't. But having one in IV is about 10 times more fun, because it's much more tense. Rockstar is truly a team that delivers it pisses me off that people are hating on it, because insulting the rockstar team over what they did with IV is sad, IV deserve the scores it got because it is truly one of the best games ever made, without a doubt. iDon
Nope. If any GTA "is the best," it's San Andreas. GTA4 is good, but I don't think it is as good as San Andreas. Not too far behind, though.

kgrogfefji82
IMO, IV is the best GTA game so far and (people will hate me for this) San Andreas is the absolute worst. Couldn't agree more. Altough I still love SA but there's just too much bullsh*t in that game. The setting is amazing. But all the eating, training, fat, skinny it's so annoying. And all the clothes I mean GREAT that there are lots of clotches but who the f*ck has the time to check through it, looking for clothes in this game takes hours because of how long it takes just to view 1 shirt.. SafetyCatch
IV can get boring, and at times repetitive. I still enjoy playing it, they really hit a gold mine picking Niko as a main protaganist. I enjoy realistic games. Sure, not all of it is realistic due to the endless shootouts: but it's an action game. San Andreas was better in terms of gameplay, but it wasn't so rich in storyline and character. CJ really pissed me off.
iDon
Some of the things can get annoying in San Andreas. Epecially the highway.
Tycek
SA was worst GTA ever ( maybe except GTA 2). It was boring, full of bugs and stupid options. I can't meet with Michelle, because I'm too skinny, but I also can't take a mission, because i'm too fat. Who need that? Clothes and hairstyles? C'mon. This isn't some sims game. Big land? What for? About half of it was empty. Car modding, gym, schools? Everything in GTA SA was made half-time. Good thing about this game was voice-over. But IV showed us that people that normally play in some tv series also can get the job done. If we gonna talk about previous generations of GTA I prefer great VC and fantastic VCS. I agree. 100%. It always annoyed me how people hated 4 just because you couldn't do all the shallow sh*t from SA like exercise and cut your hair. I like SA, I do, but 4 blows it outta the water. IMO the worst GTA game of the 21st century is GTA 3, I do like it and still pop it in from time to time but it's kinda weak compared to what came after it. supermortalhuman
GTA IV, what it shared with GTA SA, was better, but what it LACKED allows San Andreas to remain the GOAT of games. IV is better than III and VC, but not san andreas - I'm sorry, it's not. The MP sucks too. We all still play MTA way more than IVMP, that is evidence on its own (because it's not usually bad hardware with MTA players).
kgrogfefji82
My only complains about IV is that I wanted Niko to look like this Not refering to the gloves but the buzzed haircut, it makes him look a lot more badass But it's not really anything that bothers me, I would've just loved it if he looked like this in the full game
CookPassBabtridge
Everyone has their opinion, but Im sure the stakes would change if IV and SA were built with the same engine. Chances are IV would have many many more 'haters'.

DJSmurf2009
These topics are doing my head in! IV is its own game, as is SA. They both have 2 different story lines, 2 differnet game engines.... IV has new stuff, SA has stuff that IV doesnt... They are both 2 different games so to me, they cannot be compared. They are both fantastic games in thier own rights.

I agree completely. I like all the GTA games and I can't say that GTA: IV is the best but it's the only game I always play on PS3. I can't seem to play any other PS3 games like Call Of Duty 4 or something.
DrAnomalous
My take and these were my impressions of the games while I was playin them for the first time. GTA3 - I got this game on PC and spent hours into the morning playing this game. Total destructive car flipping freedom in a 3d environment kicked ass Vice City - The 80's, in Miami, soundtrack the whole atmosphere was really there and sucked me in. San Andreas - Huge amount of playground and options galore but the story did get weaker which is importatn to me, good entry none the less. GTAIV - Big face lift to the graphics and sweet physics too. The story is great and the atmosphere is awesome. Since GTA3 I feel they have only continued to get better and better. Leo Colt
The only thing that really let GTA IV down was the repetitive missions (Go here, shoot this guy, chase this other guy etc.) that vastly outnumbered the truly creative missions, and also that terrible third act in Alderney. San Andreas was better in regards to length, as it kept introducing new things all the way to the very end of the story. By this point in GTA IV, the missions had become wholly repetitive and boring (the creative ones were gone), and the only thing different was an upped difficulty. Not fun. foohy
I agree. IV is not only the best GTA but the best game I have ever played. Though that's just a personal opinion. San Andreas was good but a bit to much over the top. I'm all for over-the-top action in movies and games but there needs to be some substance behind it...the missions where CJ dives off the dam went past "that was awesome" and firmly planted itself in "that was just ridiculous" territory. Not to mention that it seems like R* just ran out of motivation while designing Las Venturas...I hardly ever went there in my game outside of the story because it was just so boring It's only redeeming factor was the AC-424 and the heist mission IMO. Magic_Al
San Andreas comes the closest to being the only video game you'll ever need. The size and variety of things to do and see is amazing. It gives everybody something to love and hate, but if you can't find something you like in it, you probably hate video games. GTA IV is the greatest artistic achievement in video games. Liberty City seems so alive you almost feel like a spectator and that the game doesn't need the player to have a reason to exist. I'm in the older segment of the audience and GTA IV seems like one of the only games that's made for me. A lot of the music is as old as me and the game world is full of detail that you can appreciate more the more you study and think about it, as opposed to almost every non-GTA game that makes me feel dumber for having played it. So I guess I have to call it a tie. I can't say that one GTA failed more than the other. I think we can all agree Rockstar is the best game company. Obdeaio
I think I like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas the best. It has the longest lasting value, for me, and it gets the closest of all the GTAs to embodying what I like in games.

TopHat01
I think I speak for everyone when I say, I wanted fingerless gloves Play the PC version. I have them on, and tbh they start to look cheap once you wear a suit/Modo clothing, and there's no option to remove them. (Well, i lost my original hand files without the gloves, and I CBA to reinstall.) Otherwise, GTA:IV is one of the few GTA's that got me attached, but I think that has to do with the order/styled I played them in. (I never played Vice City or San Andreas "formally," it was always at a buddy's house and we'd just mess around with cheats...)

supermortalhuman
In my opinion, GTA IV is the best GTA game so far... I don't really understand how Rockstar will manage to top that standard they set with GTA IV. by adding all the things that made GTA SA superior back into it Everything niko can do (aside from new features), you could do since GTA 1. And really, LC2008 is just a successor to LCIII, not San Andreas. The West Is The Best, that's why it is saved for last. NYC is gray and dull and so is Fall, that's why Liberty is done first, with only core gameplay mechanics, and then vice introduces color, and then san andreas tops the pile. If they go through all the locations again, I'm sure I'll say the same thing for GTA V: "It's just a successor to IV, it def doesn't beat SA - it lacks WAY too much". If you like IV more than SA, then you are into one aspect of the game, that's respectable as much as anyone's opinion, but if you like SA more, that means you like other aspects. I liked SA because it made III boring. Going BACK to 3 with more detail in IV was fun more my eyes and REALLY fun for experiencing the new HD stuff (not just looks but physics etc as well) and really though, by the time I beat it, I'm done with it, back to San Andreas in Multi Theft Auto 1.0 because it's way better and we can actually kick and ban cheaters there (without having to hack the game) IV becomes boring after you beat it, but that's because you're supposed to play TLaD and BoGT after it, so it's understandable. I think Niko is just a prettier, slightly less limited Claude. I want the Carl successor, because nothing has done what SA did yet - but IV has me VERY excited to see the next games, since they did this much to LC, i can't wait to see what happens in Vice this time, and San Andreas is going to be awesome.
