By The way, in what way is this mod Different from San Vice, VC2SA, GTA United, ... ?

this is different from all of them because he is making the city with paths and then it will be open source (for everyone to make their own additins to the map) just so if anyone is planning on making a mod for vice on san andreas engine they wont need to make vice city, it will already be done.

Great. And why? San Vice is there, VC2SA is there, the VC of GTA United is there, ...

 

And you cant "steal" them, that are just Objects from Vice city, somehow you have no copyright on them.

That is true, the people who will try to stop you from using it or require permission are acting in their own ignorance that they don't own one thing the moment it goes into the GTA engine, let alone models from original games in the first place. You can scratch model a whole map and make home made textures and all - the moment you put it into a GTA mod, it no longer belongs to you. Period. But we respect each other in the community, so that's cool, but at the end of the day, no one can claim 'ownership' of original models from GTA, and when we make mods, they belong solely to Rockstar Games. Creator ownership only matters here, anywhere outside of this community mods do not belong to us.

 

But, in respect of their wishes, he has decided to make his own that no one can ever cry about - cool.

The mod might not be dead, but the game is dead whenever you go across Little Haiti - an object there is causing me to almost DIE with the game dying with a corrupted stack... which is very bad. And even worse, this bug has been there for a long time, I've tried everything, and still it's there... after debugging a ton of times, and I can't even look at the call stack since it's corrupted. Wow. sad.gif

I'm just posting here to tell development on OpenVice has been ceased. The path width is still not being read by SA, and I think there's just no way to solve it. sad.gif

Introducing... OpenVice b2, with working paths and without script for now (it crashed)

 

Changes since ib1

- Fixed vertex lighting for many objects (IPL flag stuff)

- Added some converted emergency cars

- Custom object.dat

- A timecyc.dat file conveted from VC's file

- Shtap, better than any other VC mod because I have htap width for cars and they don't.

- Automated build process for IMG files (well, only I'd notice that)

- Fixed the crash in Little Haiti (split lithitsjm and sjmkhus)

- and more things I didn't remember smile.gif

 

Still to do (as in 'features')

- build 2dfx in the DFF files

- set non-backfacecull capable objects to not be backface culled (mostly interior objects, bug also in VC)

- re-implement the script (will be done in a patch release)

- fix more exterior-world interior lighting (Dispensary in Vice Point's a prime example)

 

Known bugs

- sometimes the path width is a bit too wide, this seems to be a tiny with my path width conversion utility (path widths propagate too far instead of just at direct links, I should flag each altered node to not be used as a width source)

- paths have small traffic light issues, likely caused by a change between VC and SA

- there's no script!

- the Vercetti Estate has open windows, but shows no water (this needs some disassembly to fix, and you won't be able to see it without script)

- oceandrv/oceandn might have small collision and LOD issues

- I've accidentally added my LCS V8 Ghost conversion in gta3.img blush.gif

- some crashing/hanging issues may still be, for a freeze, windows key+l is faster than rebooting

May I propose a few changes NTAuthority?

 

What it needs:

 

1. All of SA's police cars (SF, LA, LV, countryside) to be replaced by VC's.

I know you already have the VCPD car added but other police cars still show up.

 

2. Zones names needs to be added such as when you enter Little Havana it says it in the corner.

 

3. Gangs need to be added into their respective areas using SCM or CLEO.

The models need converting first though.

 

4. Car spawns, weapon spawns, bribes, health armour ect. need adding everywhere

 

These are all relatively easy changes that you could do and would make this mod a whole lot more awesome biggrin.gif

tiny issue with map zones, the first car replacement was just for Project Vice, slipped to OV. likely will use an ASI to fix.

Ah yes sorry, must of missed that.

Have you though about using CLEO or are/have you fixed it?

I can't rig (trust me, I've tried biggrin.gif) but there are some mods I found that you could ask to use. It includes all of the VC gangs all expertly rigged.

is there a ENB series config working on open vice?

To play Open Vice with ENB series, copy and paste the files from this folder to a clean Open Vice install.

 

The ENB settings are by LILQ and are awesome so don't bother changing them biggrin.gif

A tiny update has been released which fixes some path bugs - get it at http://files.dotbas.net/openvice-b2u1.zip smile.gif OpenVice now only has 1 path bug left, which is the traffic light stuff, a fix for that will come in u2... however, with these paths OpenVice has the least buggy paths out of all VC-to-SA conversions.

 

An update with scripts and other fixes/features will come at a later time, this fixes just an annoying bug I wanted fixed.
