tud
ok so the wierdest thing happened to me. i tried to put in some new cars into the game and of course before i could do that i needed to install Xlive less. i did so, i started installing the cars bla bla all good until i started the game and i realized that it didn`t pick up from where i left it. i started from the beginning. i checked my documents/rockstar/gta/savegame and it was empty. i wasn`t that far in the game, about 23% so i said what the hell, i`ll start all over. after some more useless tweaking and modding i kinda totally ruined the game so i decided to reinstall it. after the reinstall the biggest surprise. on the first run of the fresh new copy of gta 4 the game picked up exactly from where i had lost it, 23%. totally unexplainable, at least for me. i quickly went to check the my docs/rockstar/gta/savegame folder and still .. it was empty. i then read something that i had missed before in the readme of the Xlive less app : Additional notes on savefiles: * savefiles are now located in the folder: (for Windows Vista) %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\ (for Windows XP) %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\ NOTE: don't forget to copy savegames to the new location so my question is .. is there an other path to the save game prior to installing Xlive less in order to mod the game (an original path in which gta saves games by default) ? because i want to back up my savegame before installing xliveless but i can`t find the savegame files anywhere ( the 23% ones ). sorry for the long and boring text, any help would be apreciated. thanks
Girish
This is explained in the pinned FAQ over here. Windows XP SP3 = C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames Windows Vista = C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames Windows 7 = C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames You may need to "view hidden files and folder".
