LanceVanceDance07
Interesting news, I think this is a good opportunity for Marvel to grow as a company, with Disney running the marketing.
Omnia sunt Communia
As long as it is similar in practice to the Disney/Pixar deal where Pixar regain complete creative control, then I don't mind. Though the idea of Disney having some sort of say over what goes on in the world of Marvel is quite disturbing.

Creed Bratton
Ah Christ just what I f*ckin needed. Disney is so awful. Now what's gonna happen wit Ultimate Alliance 2? Micky Mouse unlockable character? f*ck that!

Mike Tequeli
Disney caves pretty easily to a lot of religious pressures. If I remember correctly they delayed Dogma or something because Bill Donahue was giving them trouble about insulting Catholics.
Moonshield
Disney caves pretty easily to a lot of religious pressures. If I remember correctly they delayed Dogma or something because Bill Donahue was giving them trouble about insulting Catholics. Does that mean there's going to be an unroar regarding the Thor movie, or no to a Moonknight movie?
Gundog
Oh sh*t no. I had to response, as I'm a huge comic fan. I just hope they don't pair Hannah Montana, the Jonas Fags and Spider-man together. If so... f*ck it, life sucks. You are an aperture through which the universe is looking at and exploring itself.

Gezim
4 billion dollars? That's a lot of money. I myself am not really worried that much about it. I doubt anything will change.
Vercetti21
Will this have any affect on The Avengers movie? Or are film rights out of the question?
Ronnyboy
I don't think it will affect that much. But then again, Brian Williams reminded everyone that Disney did this years ago with the princess market for girls. So who knows what will happen as they reach out to try and corner the boys market. Good luck Mr. Mouse!
Chewie
This doesn't bother me so much. Since Disney owns ABC, Lost is aired on ABC and it's an amazing show. I just hope that they won't f*ck up the ideas for the new Movies: Spiderman 4 Iron Man
Tetsuo2501
Would Disney even have creative ownership at all? I'm understanding this as being strictly marketing and whatever. I hope this answers your question: Under the deal, Disney will acquire ownership of Marvel including its more than 5,000 Marvel characters. Mr. Perlmutter will oversee the Marvel properties, and will work directly with Disney's global lines of business to build and further integrate Marvel's properties. Goodfella.
They don't get to touch the characters who currently have their rights bought by other studios. In other words they can't touch Spider-Man who Sony have firmly in their grasp, same as any X-Men related films. They can't touch The Avengers and The Avengers related films either. Link. I don't know what to think about all this, it's f*cking weird. Though the thought of Pixar making a Marvel film of some sort makes me smile. Maybe they'll reboot The Punisher again... The Unvirginiser
I think it must be more to do with the revenue from the memrobilia from the upcoming films than changing anything major. More buisness than anything. Unless Disney have a man dressed as the Incredible Hulk running around the Magic Kingdom EDIT: Actually, does this mean that theme parks like Islands of Adventure will have to tear down their superhero themed rides? Vercetti21
Though the thought of Pixar making a Marvel film of some sort makes me smile. Actually I could see some potential there. Maybe they should ditch the Spiderman series (which is going to sh*t anyways) and see what Pixar could do with a reboot? I'd just hope it wouldn't be too kid-friendly. The Unvirginiser
It makes sense to me now, Disney has Hannah Montana, High School Musical... They've lost their market for your boys, buying out Marvel makes sense.

Star-Lord
Stan Lee sees Disney-Marvel as a super deal. “I think it's a terrific deal which will be extremely beneficial to both companies. The synergy between them is perfect,” said Lee, who remains Marvel’s Chairman Emeritus but hasn’t been involved in day-to-day operations for a number of years. supermortalhuman
welp, that does it. Marvel is downhill from here. Maybe. Because maybe it was downhill since the end of the Stan Lee era. Maybe. Or maybe they just see how much money is going to be coming from the future movies (we haven't seen anything yet, crossovers coming etc). Maybe they will only own it, while it operates as it would any other time.
