Pico
Actually, I didn't get body work, per say, done. More like a Dunkin' Donuts delivery truck driver (box truck), who had a suspended license by the way, decided it'd be an awesome idea to ram into my Camaro which was parked across the street at 5am this morning. My brother, my mom, and I woke up to a gigantic explosion sound and ran outside to see the truck sliding through a neighbor's lawn, a few houses down across the street. Then almost ram into a light pole and slowly creep down the street. My mom had the police on the phone before he started to even drive away, and they caught him about 3 minutes down the road. So he's really, really f*cked. As for me... I'm currently out of a car! Of course insurance will pay, but probably not enough to get something as good or slightly better, so that really f*cking sucks. Enough blabbering, you probably want to see pics right??? Well here's before shots... WARNING: IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH, DON'T SCROLL DOWN. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED Pushed the car about 40 feet, eventually the curb must have spun it out from his front right bumper and it ended up in the neighbors yard It seems his front right bumper caught under my wheel well and the truck just raped the sh*t out of it. You can see the impact was so hard it shatter the windshield, blowing a hole through it.
3niX
Well... Aww man... she didnt take that quite well. So, what are you planning to do now? New car, try to fix it (though its pretty f*cked) or walk?
chris
f*cking hell, thats some serious sh*t. Im glad that nobody got hit by the truck but it sucks for your car. Im sure i just saw these pictures on /o/ but i didnt open them. Edit - If it makes you feel any better im without a car aswell, i'd prefer not to go into detail on here but if you add me on MSN i'll update you guys on what happened. Pico
Walking for now No, I'll get rides from people. I won't be able to get a rental car because I'm only 22, you need to be 25 here. And no, it's not fixable, it's completely f*cked. I'll take the money his insurance pays out and get a new car with that. @chris, yeah I posted it on /o/. They're arguing about whether it's a good idea or not to sue Dunkin' Donuts, lol. I don't plan on it, I doubt it will come to that. And definitely, great thing no one was in the car or around, they're be SERIOUSLY injured. I found a piece of plastic from the car on my front steps a good 150 feet from where my car was parked! It just friggin exploded basically...

Pico
Thanks guys... the loss is starting to sink in. While it wasn't the most favorite car I owned, I've grown fond of it over the past year and a half and I'll miss it. Just got back from my insurance agent. He called the owner of the vehicle's insurance company and set up the claim. I should hear from them within 24 hours. I'm going to request a rental car that they are going to pay for. And hopefully before they cut any official check make sure they add in tax, registration and license plate transfer costs in as well. It's not my fault I need to replace it, so I shouldn't just get KBB, a little more is obviously due. So lil' Antwan (that's his name. Srsly) crashed Akther's(that's the Dunkin' Donut owner's real name. Srsly) company 2001 Ford E-450 into my poor little Camaro, rape it right up the ass. @·chris, It says something like "Start Seeing Motorcycles!" I got it from my motorcycle safety course... just put it on like 2 weeks ago. @Illusion, not sure what I'm getting. I would like to stick with a RWD car despite the winters here. They just handle so much nicer. But I have a feeling I'll get stuck with a FailWD car

Lurch
So what's your price range for the next car going to be?
Pico
I'm not exactly sure. KBB for my car with (103K miles, and the options it has) comes out to $3,400 retail value in Excellent condition. As far as they can assess it was at the LEAST in good condition. I can only see it going down to around $3,000 "good" condition. I'm not sure they'll give me retail value, but I'm pretty sure they will. Like I said I'm going to tell them I want the fees of getting a new car included... so ideally it'll be between $3,300 and $3,800. But if they are a bunch of tight asses I could see as little as $1,500 is my guess. Any lower than that and I'd go ape sh*t on them. $1,500 is still an insult, assuming they're going by retail value, which they should. How ever much I'd get I'd like to have a ~$500 buffer in price. So if I got $3,500 or so, I'd be looking at something for $3,000. Feel free to look for something if any of you guys are bored. I'm in a north west suburb of Chicago, so anywhere in places like Schaumburg, Streemwood, Dundee, Elgin, Roselle, Hoffman Estates, Carpenterville, Hanover Park (in Illinois)... probably a few more cities in this general area. I obviously prefer: - sporty coupes - decent power (the more the better, of course) - no immediate repairs needed - around or <125K miles - decent to good to excellent interior and exterior No Miatas A 300lb 5'8" guy stuffed in one of those cock magnets just wouldn't be right. I'm willing to give in on the sporty coupe part, but the rest is necessary.
Lurch
I'm 300 lbs. and 6'5" and fit in a miata just fine.... I'd look into getting a late 90's Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. Assuming you ever try and learn how to drive a stick.... Or another F body but witih a V8. Some options. Pico
That first link redirects me to tr6.com...? Saw that 2nd one on CL... don't like the huge lack of any information. Just found this, like 10 mintues from my house so I can at least look at it, possibly test drive it. Assuming I get a check written tomorrow. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=330355758093 Looks pretty damn good to me. A couple hundred lbs lighter than my Camaro, 25 more horses and only down 6lb-ft of torque. And that's assuming my Camaro was making what the factory rating was, which I doubt. Lurch
Fixed and added more links. Seem to be some decent deals on early LT1 Z28's with around your mileage requirements. A 300ZX Turbo...it's an auto though. http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/cto/1350777870.html Edited September 1, 2009 by Lurch
Pico
Seen all of those And that 300ZX turbo... but it's got damn near 200,000 miles. Way to high, imo. I'm really liking the one I linked to, did you check it out? I'm looking for an auto as I still haven't had a chance to drive stick yet. I don't want my DD to be my learning car. Lurch
Meh to the N/A. It's a LWD 2+2 which are quite a bit heavier, don't handle as well, and just look plain awkward when compared to a normal 2 seater version. How bout a Vette with 99k miles? http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/ctd/1340481056.html Edited September 1, 2009 by Lurch
Pico
That really caught my eye. Awesome mileage on it... and the LT1 sounds nice. But... I hear the 84's, being the first year of that model style, have common problems. And I could only imagine the insurance for a Corvette, even if it's an 84. And that gold is an ugly friggin color
Gundog
Oh, man, he totally ripped the car apart. I feel really sorry for you, and it used to be such a beauty too... Well, I guess you learned your lesson now. The car should always be in the garage. Sorry, man, I can't even imagine how frustrated you must've felt. stretch.
holy sh*t, He goatsed that! Not just raped it! Push for as much as you can mate!
Pico
Lol... goatsed might be more of a fitting term, you're right It's funny, the most common immediate response from everyone I've told has been: Oh my god! Oh sh*t/Holy sh*t! Or a mixture of both Their insurance has the info now and there's an adjustor assigned. I'm waiting to hear back from her for a time line on how long it will take. This car caught my eye, only thing I don't like is that he just put in a new fuel TANK and pump... fuel delivery issues maybe? That'd suck. Awesome mileage, especially for the year. http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/cto/1352611067.html This one too, but the mileage is a little higher than what I'd like. long ass link I went and looked at that 300ZX... man it's f*cking nice. Super clean, only thing that looked a little worn were the front seats, each had a rip in them, nothing crazy though but I know it'd get worse with ME getting in and out of it. Only probably I found was the driver side power window. It went down half way, then stopped going. Then I had to pull it back up with my hands Still, not a huge deal, it's an awesome car. Sadly, I don't think the insurance will have this handled in time for me to bid on it. edit: Oh yeah, I also went to the Dunkin Donuts to talk to the manager there. Apparently the driver told him he hit a deer then lost control and hit a car or something... and he told him it was on a different street, not my street. But I told him the real story, and the pictures. He let me take pictures of the truck. He f*cked it up pretty good as well. What I don't get is how there's a gigantic blue scrape along the upper end of the box Edited September 2, 2009 by Pico
Pico
Update... I FINALLY talked personally to some one from THEIR insurance company. They hadn't heard from the guy who owns the vehicle, probably STILL haven't. I've been doing all the footwork on this and it's f*cking bullsh*t. Anyways, the insurance company is doing great so far. It sucks though because since I want to be there when the guy goes to assess the vehicle it's going to take until the 9th. So 8 friggin days, 9 from the incident. But, they got me a rental car by 2:30 this afternoon. Went to pick it up, expecting a full size like an Impala or Taurus... got a PT Cruiser! The guys at Enterprise said I can swap it with a better car tomorrow though, luckily. So the insurance is paying for that all. They're also, obviously paying all the towing charges... now I just need to make sure I talk them into giving me what I deserve, assuming they're going to be f*ckers about it. If it gets ridiculous and they won't budge, or budge enough I'll threaten to speak with my attorney. I'm not walking away with this with less than $3,000-$3,500. What sucks as well is I won't be able to get that 300ZX! Man, was it sweet!
Ronnyboy
Shame dude, that was a great car! You go to Gurnee Dodge on Grand Avenue? So what else you plan on getting? 1994 Mustang, another Camaro? I'll look for some deals in your area when I am more awake.
Pico
Not sure what I'm going to get. It really depends on how much I get... and I won't have forever to look for a new car. I'll need something with in a week at the longest, which sucks. I doubt they'll pay for the rental after they right me the check for the car. And Chicago is too far of a drive to get a car. At the most I can get some one to take me about 30-45 minutes away to find a car. Chicago is a good 1:15. edit: For those of you who are confused as to series of events, it went like this. 1. Initial impact 2. My car separates from the truck and lands in the yard. 3. This is where I saw the truck from my window in my room across the street (house with the green roof). Drive turn back on to the street. 4. After swerving back and forth a bit (I could tell from the tire marks on the road) he swings a hard left and almost hits a light pole at this corner (hidden by trees). This is where he was when we got outside and my mom had the cops on the phone already. 5. Driver took off. The purple line down the middle of the street is where the new boulevard is. The size of the street is a little wider, but I didn't feel like completely reconstructing the widths. You get the idea. Orange block is the truck, blue block is my car. Arrows point to the front end of the vehicle, then arrows on the path show the vehicles direction. The purple lines by my car is the shape and area of the tire marks left by my car. It was already turned/turning in that orientation when it was lifted/pushed over the curb. Edited September 2, 2009 by Pico

Pico
Thanks -chris. Not being racist, but pretty much all black guys that live on the east side of town, where this guy does, smokes weed. So he probably just got done smoking a blunt and was busy bumpin some hip hop and leaning down so he couldn't see over the steering wheel. I know he's black because his name is Antwan Williams... and his address, that area has a lot of black people, in case you were wondering how I knew. I swapped the PT Loser for a 2.5 Altima. Friggin sweet car. Push button start, 177hp i-4, manual shift mode (+ and - option at the shifter). Nice and smooth ride. Glad I'll have it for a week!
