adamove
I remember when Prototype was in the magazines. It looked pretty damn awesome. Then when I saw some actual gameplay of it, it looked like a violent version of Spider man, absoloutely unrealistic, cartoony and terrible. You win the most irrelevant post of the day award. and you win the internet 100% complet its yours now hahahaha
Mr.D
One of the aspects of the GTA games, which I have come to adore, is that apart from focusing on the bigger issues of gaming like a great story, mesmerising cutscenes, witty dialogue, lively setting, refreshing and others, the developers have also focused a lot on some of the smaller issues in the game. And this is even more evident in GTA IV. For example, when Niko sits inside a vehicle, you have a whole set of animations developed solely for that situation. So, Niko will steer the wheel much more realistically, look at the rearview mirrors (to check for vehicles coming from behind him ?), look sideways and reverse like a real man would. Hell even if you just leave the controls, you can spend a couple of minutes just watching Niko as he stretches himself, scratches his head and does all sorts of jigs that make him appear much more human. And there's ton's of such nice touches spread throughout the game despite the possibility that most of them can (and perhaps do) end up going unnoticed. These things make GTA IV more of an experience instead of "just another game".
PacoGTA4
gta iv is only comparable to assassins creed in my opininon, do you think that? really? I can't see how is comparable with AC since AC is so SO boring and nothing to do with GTA style, but yeah is your opininon
Kakashi_sensei
Real gamers will appreciate both titles. I love GTA IV but I am not a fan boy so can quite easily see Prototypes good points. Prototype is a completely different game to GTA IV and I don't even know why the OP bothered to even mention it. The reason why I mentioned Prototype was purely from a graphical standpoint. Both games have a city, both have people moving around, both have vehicles and helicopters. Don't get me wrong, Prototype is still be fun to play yes, but my point was that after having experienced GTAIV's graphical masterpiece of a city, it is very difficult to play another game set in a city but which looks like they used Space Quest 1 graphics to create it. (LOL overexaggeration yes!) Another example is Saints Row 2: how bland does that city look in comparison? Anyway GTAIV is a masterpiece and well worth the money spent thereon! By the way that one guy's idea above about recreating San Andreas with IV's graphics engine THAT WOULD BE INSANELY AWESOME

maz89
LOL. Just cause this is a GTA forum doesn't mean you have to go and bash other games.
syrdax
Wow.. I like GTA IV a lot, but I also like Mercs 2 or Just Cause, these games are kind the same, but after finished those 2 games, it's kind of boring trying them again. I still have them, but they have little play time lately.
Sorkenlol
I thought it sucked in the beginning, but now I love it. The only things I don't like all that much are the comical elements. I'd like it to be more serious. What I like the most is that there's so many things to do in the game, when I'm bored of doing missions I can do dozens of different things for variation. Sometimes I use a trainer, enable vehicle god mode and spawn a big truck and just ram vehicles on the street, or I put the wanted level on max and try to get away from the cops in one piece. Sometimes I just get up on a rooftop, equip my sniper and take out people on the street, or beat them up, or grab my baseball bat and hit every vehicle I see until I've got a hundred taxi-drivers on my back. And yeah Prototype sucked. Edited September 3, 2009 by Sorkenlol
Jonas72
Prototype has one HUGE advantage over GTAIV for me (besides actually being a rather good game): It works flawlessly on my computer! As for GTAIV, I still haven't been able to get more than an hour's worth of continuous gameplay out of it, so I can't judge it yet. And I've owned it longer than I've had Prototype. mkey82
This game wasn't made for current gen PCs. It was made for PCs of the future, and in the future PCs should be able to handle more traffic in MP. Leaving the option for us to use would have been great. 1) bullsh*t 2) there isn't such a thing as "gen" when talking about PC's. 3) R* themselves said it many times, the only thing they wanted to reference with that unfortunate comment was the amount of VRAM, nothing more. Lollercoaster
I haven'tr tried Prototype yet, but I'm enjoying GTA IV very, very much (I just started playing it really recently). The lv of detail is insane!!! When you are listening to the radio and a cell-phone call is coming out, you can hear interference How cool is that?! Lovely game so far, the last mission I did was beating the Stripper Club's managers for Dwayne. Sometimes I get interference without my in-game GTA phone showing up, I just find that annoying, because I always think it's my real phone that is getting a call, lol... Also, if you want mad interference, drive in the tunnel booth. When you drive out on the Algonqiun site you get mad interference.
