Kakashi_sensei
Anyone had the distasteful experience of playing Prototype? WOW all I can say is that GTAIV is about a million worlds ahead of other games when it comes to top class graphics and creating a true rendition of a living city Have a quick game of GTAIV and then try out Prototype........your eyes will bleed even Vice City's graphics kick that games ass Well done Rockstar and a truly incomparable graphical experience
Murcchachosa
Well, all I can say, GTA4 is the most funnioest/greatest/beautifullest game I ever played. I tried other games like NFS games UC, Juiced2, Burnout Paradise and TDU. All these outside GTA4 suck. Really suck, bad gameplay and stupid stories. Not worth to spend your time lol. GTA4 is another story, great storylines, great details around the cities and funny moments. I still havent experienced the game since this year January, because its so big to examine And I have seen the video's of Prototype. Seems a game that suck harder and painfull Flying ***hole wich can steal DNA, funny... And BTW, this is a GTA forum, forum for GTAfans. And yes, GTA Vice City is a great game too. Even if I havent played it for long time, that game still kick ass.
PacoGTA4
yet another thread showing love for GTA IV???? count me in!! this game is just a master piece, a piece of finest art. I appollogyse even that runlike crap on my pc, but the amazing quantity of details is stunning. this is by far the best game in every aspect, and the best retail presentation so far, every cent I spent on it is paying day after day
manofpeace
My only gripe with the game is the fairly dull multiplayer outside of co-op missions and races. Besides that, best $80 (Special Edition) I've spent in the past 2-4 years. Edit: Or is it $100? Bah, who cares? It's great.
tacopowered
I'd give this game a 7 out of ten, clearly above average but it does have it's shortcomings. This game is basically this era's GTA 3. -Multiplayer: I like the available game modes, but we don't even get an option to keep traffic on during full games. And the stock way of handling cheaters and mods is really really crappy. And where are the dedicated servers? -Storyline: I just robbed a bank and got $300,000. And every mission afterwards seems to pay by the truckload. Why does Niko still complain to Roman about how they always have no money? This is my only gripe here. -Replayability: After you beat the missions, there's not much left to keep you entertained aside from the flawed multiplayer. -Performance:The game is hard to run for most people because was made for the average joe who's new to PC gaming. These are the people who rate GPUs by Vram alone and think the CPU is the whole computer. ================================================================= -Artistic direction:Love it. The atmosphere is spot on. -Graphics:From a technical standpoint, it's better than most, but not the best. But that's to be expected of a sandbox game. Nillus
I enjoy playing GTA IV everytime I do it, however Prototype was good fun to me aswell. Please don't judge it (Prototype) if you haven't played it, as most reviews are like 'graphics arent that good and it could have been better' all the time. Lodis
Real gamers will appreciate both titles. I love GTA IV but I am not a fan boy so can quite easily see Prototypes good points. Prototype is a completely different game to GTA IV and I don't even know why the OP bothered to even mention it.

maz89
GTA IV is definitely a great game and I enjoyed it thoroughly (casting aside the performance issues). But still, I felt something was missing from this one. San Andreas is my favorite GTA game. Maybe it was the setting, the story, the characters, the greater number of things you could do, use, drive etc, the crazy ass missions, - San Andreas still felt like an overall better game than GTA IV. Maybe they could re-build San Andreas someday using GTA IV's engine, lol! Would be something I'd even pay $200 for.
Chevyboy
I mostly side with Maz. I think GTA 4 is great, fantastic story, very big, very "real" city as far as games go and an extreme amount of detail in the game. That said SA is still my favorite GTA. There is just so much more to do and the game feels far, far more complete than GTA 4 does. Point and case is the fact that first playthrough's GTA SA can take hundreds of hours to fully complete, GTA 4 not so much. I think my first playghrough (100% as well) took a total of 50-60 hours. I don't recall SA's time however I know it was well over 100 hours.
FireItUp
GTA IV is the best game imo. Yesterday I loaded up Saints row 2, I didn't even make it out of the jail before I quit. Such a pathetic game after playing GTA IV.

I think GTA SA was a great game, it give me many many hours of gameplay although I didn't finished, but I can't see me turning back to play SA again after GTA IV, the graphics of course but also the gameplay and physics. to the point... so far I have 65 hours of play on GTAIV and only have 66% completed, I'm sure I can reach 100-110 or even more hours till I finish 100% for the first time. I'm by no means denying the quality of work in GTA 4, but SA still has the edge in quantity without giving up the quality. syrdax
I've seen a lot of new mods for SA around and they are great. I still have SA installed but whenever I load the game and jump into a car, they fell like boxes with wheels... IV made me hate the physics of SA. I know that for many people cars in IV don't handle like (doh!) real life, but I wish some games like NFS, Grip, etc, should have the car handling that IV has. Saints Row came with some thing I bought, installed, and like Fireitup, after escaping the prison and drive some yards, I quit the game, uninstalled and threw the game to the garbage can. I played Prototype too, but for me is too "consolish"... too fast paced, but is there, its shortcut is still on my desktop. Sadly, IV is kind of short, but that's because SA's fault, we were spoiled with that game because the zillion things to do, but still, IV, for me, is way better. One thing you must realise is that traffic in multiplayer is technically impossible for most people as of now. You'd have to sync 100's of cars and peds and that would destroy the game servers and everyone playing on them. And GTA 4 is probably the best game I've played. One thing that would stand out is the atmosphere and how alive the city seems. I hate games where you are all alone so naturally I like this one. Character comes to another country. finds out anything is bad. Help. Everything is getting better. Everything is f****d up. You end up in an hole after that in a bad situation. You work up something (most of the storyline.) You return to the start. (Grove St. - SA, boat that Niko was on - IV) Things are getting better, somewhat. You deal (Or, in both cases, get revenge on the guy that its all his fault.) (Off storyline) do sub-missions. Half of the game Niko is looking for someone, and CJ gathers cash. which doesn't sound like a refreshing storyline for me. Anyway, GTA IV is indeed a very good game. Apart from the FPS i get, and FPS isn't a huge problem for me. I take what i can get. Agreed. What's the point in getting lots of money if you can't spend it much? At least in the other GTAs' you could buy places. Yeah, but casino in SA was easy money. So buying places was nothing. Apart from broken food system (spend 30$-40$ and don't eat for the entire game, and even more after that. Besides, the RPG features in San Andreas were too awesome. Kinda reminds me of fallout 3 as its RPG but still packs a good amount of action. If IV had RPG features it would make it just too awesome to be true. Realism harmed the game in the same way it did good. (Realism, OK, but its still a videocgame!) -Multiplayer: I like the available game modes, but we don't even get an option to keep traffic on during full games. This game wasn't made for current gen PCs. It was made for PCs of the future, and in the future PCs should be able to handle more traffic in MP. Leaving the option for us to use would have been great. ====================== Besides, there's still traffic when there's few players, so it can be done, they just have to set the bar higher than it is now. syrdax
Heck, CSIs are all the same always and it has plenty of viewers: crime > CSI guys on the scene guessing > music video (CSI guys operating all kind of sophisticated gadgets) > star of the show getting the bad guy. Or those movie comedies: couple hate each other > couple love each other > problem > happy ending. Now, NFS games... new guy, new city, > gets car stolen/impounded > race until you get the fastest/most upgraded car because you can't get to the bad guy in that tier 4 car > get the bad guy? I like Niko story more than CJs. I kind of think that no crooked cop will dictate the course of my life like Tempeny did with CJ, either I report him or just kill him, heck, in the game, you get to kill just about anyone, why not just kill Tempeny? However, Niko seems to be looking for the American dream first and then he seems to move by a revenge. I find this story more, convincing? But of course, that's just me. Should the game be more "realistic", I think that whenever Roman experienced some of the known loses, and as Niko bitches to him that "he" loses the money Niko is earning, you could lose it actually. Let's say you have the money on a bank and Roman buys the loft with your money, then you should "lose" that money. Anyway. Somehow I keep coming back to the game, and is because of the great story, the great gameplay, something that many new games seems to forget about lately.
