Kakashi_sensei
OK so I know a lot of people have these stuttering issues which arise after a few minutes of playing, even though when you initially start everything runs smoothly. I had that issue for awhile when I ran the game on the high texture detail settings, even though my PC (C2D E8600 3.3Ghz; Radeon HD4850 DDR5; 4 GB Ram) was more than capable of running the game at 60fps on the highest settings. Now I know Rockstar suggests the -memrestrict fix, but so far it seems everyone gets missing textures as a result, which is So as a *possible* (Disclaimer: possible - i.e. NOT a definite fix, so don't have a heart attack if it doesn't work please! ) fix, try getting an app called Disktrix Ultimate Defrag 2008, and do the following: Open the program, click on the green button called Press to analyze button: 1. Click on the yellow button called Options... 2. Check the Custom checkbox 3. Click on Select files... 4. Select ONLY your GTAIV folder and add it to the left hand box which appears. Click OK 5. Check the Strict Placement checkbox. Click OK 1. Click on Consolidate below the yellow Options button. 2. Click on the Blue Options button next to Consolidate 3. Check the boxes as shown Now click start and wait.... And if you are lucky like me, by placing your GTAIV folder as a high performance folder on your hard drive (the process above), it will eliminate all stuttering, even after many hours Hope this helps at least one poor soul
uk_john
As the product isn't free, this is an advert. There is a free GTA IV folder defragger called 'Contig', which I can recommend, especially as it's free. Just like the product above, it is a regular defragger, but it just defrags the GTA IV files, making it MUCH quicker versus defragging the whole drive! CharmingCharlie
So basically your advice is "defrag your hard disc", yeah that advice can be found in the FAQ and oddly enough I did it without having to advertise any program.
