komalr
Well, I wanted to know if there are pepoples like me who are addicted to their technology. I am pretty much addicted to mines, I am found mostly inside my room on the computer playing, watching or PhotoShoping anyway if the computer is turned off then I have my DS playing GTA:CW(it's f*cking awesome ) and other times infront of my TV. I though have packed my X360, played GTA IV story for 4-5 times and then got bored(have no intention of taking it out) and now waiting for Mafia II and Assassins Creed II and other games. Anyway, here's how I level my addiction . For the X360, no new things did the trick (thought mafia and assassins will force me to take it out .. ) and for the computer, I did pack my computer when I had no PS classes but it seems that's not gonna happen again and for the DS I had given it to my sister for few months but she gave it back(you know the reason, she couldn't study either ). So what do you do to stay away from your technology(and taking holidays doesn't count) ?? And if you can suggest some ways to level my addiction or something you tried and worked please feel free do so Right now i'm infront of my computer
Saggy
I suppose you could say I'm "addicted" to technology. I've usually got my computer with me, and the time spent at home is usually on the desktop. Haven't been hiking or done anything outside in ages, but I like to get out and do outdoorsy things. Other than that I like to party, and I've probably done more of that lately than using the computer. I don't know, man... This isn't meant to sound mean, but I think you're confusing not having a life with being addicted to your technology. Pick up a hobby or something man, just because you find yourself with some kind of circuitry in front of you or in your hands, doesn't mean you can't get away from it if you want. I suggest hiking, about the only thing you should have with you then is a cell phone and maybe a GPS unit so you don't get lost. I use to spend over 8 hours a day at the PC, easily, and I've found that just by forcing yourself to get up and walk away from it, you can find other things to enjoy quite easily. komalr
I have tried doing everything to stay away from my addiction but all failed read my first post. Anyway, I don't usually party(I would hate to go to a party), where I live hiking is a myth seriously it is and the only time I find myself freed from my technology is when I am at the college but it doesn't last long. And I do have a hobby and its also my career, sketching/art and I find myself with a lot less time for it and its pretty much hard for me to give up these things as I will find as excuse to use them like sketching for 5-8 min and then taking breaks I don't know but I can't find anyway to stop me from using these technologies.. I even use my bike to do 5-6 min walk to the grocery store.
Saggy
I even use my bike to do 5-6 min walk to the grocery store. So you're considering using your bicycle as part of your addiction to technology? I'll have to revise my statement, then. I'm hopelessly addicted to technology. Without it my vision becomes blurry, I start seeing double, and I lose the ability to read at great lengths. Then I put my glasses back on. I'm not sure where you're coming from anymore man. You're not talking about any technology at all, but you're talking about using a bicycle to go to the store... Is it that you think you shouldn't be so dependent on it? I mean, if you're considering using your bicycle as part of your addiction to technology, then I think it's fair to say we're all hopelessly addicted to technology, and there's nothing we can do to escape short of running into the wilderness stark naked. Mega
What you describe is not addiction to technology. Addiction to technology is having loads of gadgets, buying loads of gadgets and moving around with a jetpack. You can be addicted to objects technologically related, like consoles or watching TV, or playing FPS on PC or in my case, not being able to switch the damn blackberry off. Signature soon. Slamman
I started out with two of everything, but with a garage sale that never closes known here as The Goodwill, add to that, eBay and Craig's List and pawn shops, I am constantly shopping with the same space I had 17 years ago, it's absolutely crazy, but is it not the same thing when it comes to women and makeup and clothes.... and S H O E S?!?! Star-Lord
Yes! I'm the biggest technology whore when it comes to PCs. I must get my hands on the latest and greatest it's an addiction I guess. But the sadness thing about it is that, once I have it I end up getting bore with it and toss it to a corner. trip
Go sit outside and read "Grown Up Digital". It will be like killing two birds with one stone. You will get away from your tech stuff, and also understand why you feel you have this addiction to 'technology' that you do. I hear ya on the bike to the store bit. I actually take my bike(motorcycle) to the beer store which is only a few blocks away. I don't see it as being addicted to anything other then laziness. $|\|1P3®
Well, I guess I could say I'm addicted to technology. Whenever I'm not at school or whenever I have nothing better to do, no work, and free time, I spend my time messing with computers and trying to upgrade them and figure out what games it will play and what ones do not. I also can't go anywhere without my MP3 player, nor can I go one day without surfing the internet, so I'm not afraid to say that I am.

Abel.
As a PC Tech enthusiast and PC Gamer, I do enjoy installing new components, benchmarking them in games and, of course, playing games! However, I still enjoy practising my hobbies. I am pretty athletic and have enjoyed running for a number of years now, badminton and football are also highly enjoyable albeit entirely different. These are good suggestions as outdoor orientated activities, as Segacious pointed out, hiking can be a simple, enjoyable hobby that anyone can take up, for that reason, I recommend it, too. A hobby that I would wholeheartedly recommend is Origami. I've been doing for six years and have garnered a fair bit of skill and a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment from it. Origami is amazing in innumerable ways, however, to truly show you how would be impossible. Take these model pictures, each model is made from an uncut square with the use of nothing peripheral from it. Obviously, you won't be able to make them after a few weeks folding, but by that time you'll be able to make some great models to detract from your apparent "technology addiction". Here are some links to get you started, if you wish: The Origami Forum, an expansive Forum dedicated to the art, filled with helpful members that will gladly give you advice. Fishgoth.com is a site containing models for the beginner and advanced folder alike, it also includes a beginners section where you can learn the symbols used in Origami, I've linked you directly to that. Finally, I also recommend creative writing, regardless of your skill, it can be a way of conveying your thoughts and producing something from them or simply expressing yourself through words. Rebel
I wouldn't say I'm addicted to technology. Personally, since my PC is just in my room and usually on then well I'll go on it most days/nights just to either surf the net, talk to people, or play some games. If there comes a time where I wouldn't have access to a PC then sh*t I'd be fine. Same goes for my 360 and a TV. You just learn to do other things instead of using them. Personally it would give me more time to read the books I haven't started yet, or go out and pick up a new hobby.
Tchuck
Pshh addiction? You make it sound like it's bad. Technology can be and is very helpful to us. It can be an awesome tool. I spend a lot of the time on the computer, but I'm not wasting my time on it, I'm doing useful stuff, studying, reading, working, gaming, at times doing it all simultaneously. And ey, it makes me happy. So if this is addiction, then yes, I'm addicted. But it's by no means destroying my life, like other addictions do. The Unvirginiser
I've been addicted to games, but not technology in general. I barely watch any telly, just the news and DVDs. Actually, I camped in a tent for five days recently and really missed my home comforts, couldn't hack roughing it without things like ovens, computers and kettles. Creed Bratton
I thought I was, but after I spent a month in the mountains without even a TV or cell phone signal I found it to be relaxing. Truly, technology didn't do much to improve human life. With better technology people live faster, get sick easier. Stress is one of our worse enemies these days. So yeah, I could live without technology. And probably healthier and even better. All I need is a good woman by my side and a nice quiet place and I'm all set.
