eojhet
Hello, I have found plenty of posts about poor performance but I cannot explain why I have this problem. I am running an Nvidia 680i chipset with a core duo e6600 2.4 Ghz and a GTX 260 O/C with 4 gigs of ddr2 800 running vista x64 business with two monitors. With everything on low I barely break 30fps tops, staying in the 20's and sometimes lower. If i turn everything up the framerate slows to 8 - 17 fps. Is this a normal thing? I have all the latest updates for my hardware and for the game itself. Tips?
mkey82
That CPU is weak for GTAIV. You have only two cores at 2.4GZ while GTAIV likes quads. GTAIV is heavily CPU dependent.
Girish
Yeah, your CPU is a little on the weaker side and it's probably bottlenecking your graphics card. Try turning off Shadows and VSync, if you haven't already. Try the -memrestrict command as suggested in the pinned topic. If you're using any other commands, get rid of them. Also, defragging your hard drive would be a good idea.
Saddy
your processor is actually causing the bottleneck's . GTA 4 is well made for quad core processors run well on it. If you have a good Cpu cooler you can overclock it give it a try Try the -memrestrict command n defragging your hard drive would be a good as suggested by Girishb Edited August 31, 2009 by Saddy
