Most of them I met through a rememberable event. Like looking at this name and thinking "that was the sniper-guy I had a challenging encounter with in Freemode. Took us half an hour carefully outmaneuvering each other. Very intense." Things like that. Later on I met various randoms which went through their "people met list" and mailed everybody. When you asked them something specific they wouldnt even answer your mail. So I didnt add them. Last week a real life friend told me about somebody he met this way. So I gave it a try. I added the next random guy sending me a friend request. We had a little chat and he stated that he doesnt take GTA too seriously (which is good, for me its all about fun, my life is serious enough). Had a few good games together. A few days later I was playing coop with some real life friends so I stated in my profile comment that I would not accept or send invites. Of course I was bombed with invites. So I wrote a few personal messages to let them know. And this random guy (that doesnt take it too seriously) of course goes bananas and starts insulting me. I dont have a problem with this kind of childish behaviour (Awww, has somebody taken away your favorite toy in kindergarden today? Thats why you are in such a bad mood...). There are many pubescent GTA-Teenager out there trying hard to impress random internet contacts (the older ones prefer griefing which is a bit funnier at times). After years of surfing the web I notice, shrug my shoulders and move on. To cut a long story short: How are you adding GTA gamers? Handpicked, met here on the forums, real life friends, randoms? How do you handle insulting "psychos" (and I dont intend to start a topic about griefers)? Remove them or keep them for the lols? Have you actually banned a "friend"? Post your stories. Noinin Posted August 31, 2009 Share Posted August 31, 2009 Pretty much the only "rule" I have, is that I will not add anyone without a headset. I just cannot be arsed typing messages during a game. I get heaps of friend requests, mostly from people who have a headset and hear a female voice I don't randomly add people. I will only add people I have played with, or have interacted with here on the forums (the one exception was a few weeks back someone sent a friend request saying they were from the forum, I added him/her & 2 weeks later deleted them as I had never seen them online). I have a tight group of friends that I play GTA with, and if I'm freemoding, I'm always in a room with them. grandsanman Posted August 31, 2009 Share Posted August 31, 2009 the way i add friends are choosing my life friends then choosing randoms that i tag team with and had a blast playing with, the one exception is when i meet a person whos user name i really like or gives me a laugh, i met this person on the ps3 with the user name doggy_ninja, and a few moments later another random guy came into the room with the user name Dawgy_ninja, it cracked up so much i had two add these two. they tried to kill each other the entire match it was so funny Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'v had a few random adds in other games, but GTA, it seems to be like every couple of matches, you get some lowbie guy adding you.. I tend to just delete them, unless they have something written in the request. Most of the time i'll just reply back and say i'm trying to only have disallow players on buddys or something or other. If I just met someone funny/interesting, I might add them for future reference, whether or not they are ever online at the same time again, I don't know. I tend to delete unused accounts, or people who switch to different games (COD usually) that no longer play GTA. Adding friends or workmates is a no-starter, they're never on GTA, so I politely remove them after a week or two. People without mics get short shrift unless they are on here. STUART!!! Thing is, I have two accounts, this one for public/general/competitive use and one I used to use to get away from constant friend requests and messages, that I now use for LoL-o-Causts (Evil_Mr_John). I can't emphasise enough how good it is to have at least two ids though. Sometimes you just want to go on free mode hops and see who or what you find at random. The two are blurring though, as I use one for A/G event to accumulate cash and rank up and one for LoL-o-Causts and free mode hops that sits at level 2, so randoms think I'm a N00B. Or did you get that high amount of friends by handpicking? @ TheBruceter: 80% of the randoms I met are just starting to play online. The only game they have is GTA. With a brand new PS3. @ MrJohn666: I have the opportunity to sometimes play at my working place (in my rare brakes). I play Freemode there and no one seems to add level 1s. I made that mistake once and it utterly ruins the experience of being totally alone and doing whatever you want. I started my account over again so I'm back to adding people the way I used to. I have the forum people that accept my invites (which means 10 of you are being deleted tomorrow). I then add people under 3 general guidelines. 1) TDM/DM players who play well, are good shooters, move when they shoot 2) Players who stick it out. This means a guy who ends up alone fighting teams of 3 or more. This means n00bs who know they are n00bs but stick it out over a series of games because they enjoy the disallow experience and simply want to get better. 3) Players I meet, generally in Co-Op, who have a good grasp of the game, not just shooting but the game overall (driving, flying, locations, etc.) I really do enjoy #2, finding n00bs and taking them along for the journey despite how hard it can be for them facing really good shooters. Yeah you're not kidding, I have several and sometimes it's interesting to see how my friends act when they don't know it's me. I like playing co ops more than anything so those accounts I have a high rank in. It's interesting to see how they or anyone else treats me. I've lost several friends like this. If you are high rank almost everyone will play with you, if not, good luck. I have been playing with my level 2 account, if I can get into DB I grab the chopper and you should see the comments. " Hey look, the noob thinks he knows where the chopper is" and so forth. Then when I get a better score than them they can't believe it. Then it really freaks them out when I pick them up, fly them home and quit as the chopper is landing. Don't want to get my score up. As far as how I get my friends, I have a complex so I think no one likes me so I never send friend requests. All my friends are people who send them to me. Maybe I should see a shrink. And few more in hangmans noose and they are good at the game. I have actually scheduled certain times to play hangmans noose with them so i can play it at different times during the day. I have different time settings in my ipod (Japan, US, Australia etc., didnt started it for GTA though) and made friends at certain times of the day. So whenever I am online now there are at least 3 people waiting. Is there a way to block invites? I thought that you could handle this with your status, but it doesnt work. And stop interrupting my bliss. Oh and here's a Back on topic, I rejected my first friend request yesterday. I have deleted friends before, but never rejected any. Wow you can get lots of great messages sent with really colorful language when rejecting someone. How can you get people to send you friend requests so you can reject them. This is awesome.
