NekoCeko
I'm gonna get my version in a week or so (I bought it on eBay), so I wondered what FPS should I get on my PC, and what settings should I use to get 40-50 FPS. I bought a pirated version just to check out the game, and so I can play it until I get my copy, but of course it's junk, and almost nothing works normal. So, when I play I get 25-35 FPS, and on benchmark average 41 (when I play on all high, and most most of the bars on 70% or so). I didn't experimented with settings yet. My PC: QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2,83 GHz NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (1024 MB) RAM: 3,25 GB OS: Windows XP SP 3 I understand if some of you don't beilive me of getting an original copy, especially because my topic was recently locked, and if you read it all, it doesn't sound convincing, but here's a proof:
Extortionate
I wish you people would keep your mouth shut about pirating the game, despite buying it later. It is a stupid thing to come on to the forum and admit that. You won't get any better FPS because you brought the game and you should be hitting 40-45 in-game really. I get 30-40 on my 7600GT, Core2 2.66Ghz.

That's weird, because I stole a legal version.
NekoCeko
Here everyone sells pirated game.. Even in legal stores, they sell pirates. It's not even illegal to sell pirates here.
mkey82
Still, it doesn't make it right. If you think the developer deserves your support, you should support them. When you buy a pirated title, do you know who you are supporting? Thieves.

Didn't had an option to buy it on eBay because of my credit card. And I bought a pirated version. Then I could buy it on eBay, and I did. Jeez not a big deal. mkey82
Where did I say you didn't support them? I said that you should support the product if you like it. Anyway, with that machine, I would start with a clean OS install, like Windows 7, and then see where that takes you. On that PC, you should get better performance with 7. NekoCeko
Hmm.. Idk, is Windows 7 crappy like Vista? Maybe I buy it sometimes (I can't currently), now I must stick with XP.
mkey82
It's a lot better, that's why I recommended it. On my machine W7100 64 bit runs the game the best (comparing with Vista Ultimate 63 bit SP1 and SP2, XP SP3 and some older W7 builds).
NekoCeko
Oh. Thanks. I'll probably get it then.
NekoCeko
Now I have a problem.. When I play the game, in a metter of minutes, the textures are gone. How to explain.. Not that the textures get f*ckedup, but they literelly, go away. Like, on my screen I don't see things I should see, but I see weird shapes and stuff, like skins or something idk. Example, like when you install a skin for GTA SA/VC or III or something. Idk how to explain. mkey82
Have you changed the drivers, maybe? Try defragging the drive or reinstalling the game? Have you tried using the memrestrict command?
NekoCeko
Yeah, I updated drivers.. And I tried using the memrestrict command. I'll try defragging, but I don't know will it work even if I reinstall the game, because now my all games act weird... Idk what's the problem.. I just bought my PC 4 days ago. Here is the full story.. http://www.tech-forums.net/pc/f77/games-fr...91/#post1704280
mkey82
This is certainly f*cked up. To me this sounds as a faulty GPU. I don't know what to tell you, this is what I would do 1) install a fresh OS. Use a secondary partition and create a secondary Os you can boot. Keep that OS clean, no additional stuff, only the latest drivers, java and .net framework. That's all. IMO this step is necessary as to rule out any software problems. 2) you will need to find some utility that can monitor the temps for you. Like the RivaTuner. It's a tad tedious to get it set up, but it can be done, if you need any help, post here. You basically want to enable the monitoring plugin and have it record the temps from the sensors on you GPU and the fan speed. 3) Test, test and test. The XP copy that you have, is it a standard edition or something modified? Edited August 31, 2009 by mkey82
NekoCeko
I'm probably gonna get Windows 7 then.. And my XP copy.. I guess it's standard. What do you mean with that? Do you mean like, is it normal edition, or like professional etc. If you mean that, then I have XP professional. I got Everest Ultimate for temperatures.. Is that good? mkey82
Everest is OK. And by standard I mean original MS, not some customized bullcrap you can find on the web.
NekoCeko
It's standard. Also, my temperatures when not doing anything, not playing games or anything, just surfing or w/e (no any stress) I get: (I just started my PC 30 minutes ago, so they get higher later. Curently they are: Motherboard 45 °C (113 °F) CPU 42 °C (108 °F) CPU #1 / Core #1 53 °C (127 °F) CPU #1 / Core #2 51 °C (124 °F) CPU #1 / Core #3 48 °C (118 °F) CPU #1 / Core #4 50 °C (122 °F) GPU Diode 52 °C (126 °F) STM3500418AS 40 °C (104 °F) Also, I tried playing without the case cover.. And it seems like that works. But I can't test it all the way because I got some texture f*ck ups now, and I think it's faulty drivers. So I'll try when I install the other driver.. mkey82
Well, the MBO temp is a tad high. And the core temps are a bit high for my taste. Is the PC located in a hot room? But the GPU temp is fine, put some pressure on it and see what happens. Post the temps you get while playing.
NekoCeko
Well, not exactly in a hot room. It was really cold yesterday, but the temps were still the same. This is when I play some older game: (Max Payne 2). I would test it on GTA IV, but I dunno do I have time, because it freezes really fast now. I'll try it later though. Motherboard 47 °C (117 °F) CPU 47 °C (117 °F) CPU #1 / Core #1 57 °C (135 °F) CPU #1 / Core #2 55 °C (131 °F) CPU #1 / Core #3 52 °C (126 °F) CPU #1 / Core #4 54 °C (129 °F) GPU Diode 54 °C (129 °F) STM3500418AS 42 °C (108 °F)
mkey82
No, that tells us nothing. I think you should really, but really install a fresh os and go from there. Like I said, you can do so on a secondary partition and have one OS for your standard stuff and the other for GTAIV XD
NekoCeko
Well I called my manucaftaror and they said they gonna call me today later. If they don't know the fix, then I'm gonna get a new OS I guess.
