NekoCeko
Hello. I got a problem with cutscenes.. I was at the Uncle Vlad mission, and after I finished all, and came to the last cutscene (after you kill him), Niko started talking about when he was in the army. Then the cutscene froze, and, like he said "they were our ene-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e" and kept doing that sound e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e. I couldn't alt+tab or alt+f4 or anything. I restarted my PC, and then did the mission again, but this time it worked. Then, on the very next mission, can't remember the name, but it's when Roman hides in a dumpster, it froze again (in the part where that guy is interrogating Niko). I restarted my PC again, and now I came here. I'm running a PC version, and the second patch (the latest patch won't work, I always get some dumbass error, so I had to downgrade). My specs: Intel Core2Quad Q9550 @2.83 GHz 3,25 GB RAM nVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1024 MB OS: Windows XP Professional SP 3 Edited August 30, 2009 by NekoCeko
NekoCeko
Sorry for double post, but now I found out it's not just in cutscenes.. It freezes sometimes when not on cutscenes too. I thought I would give it another try, and on the next mission it froze again, but this time not on cutscene, but while I was playing, the moment I entered the marker, they started talking and it happened. Girish
You shouldn't get any error with any of the official patches. That's not normal. Are you updating from within the game? If so, then try downloading the patch manually from here: http://www.rockstargames.com/support/IV/PC/patch/index.html Also, update your video & audio drivers and delete all files from the Settings folder. More info here. Do you have any mods installed? If yes, then it would be a good idea to get rid of them. Also, check all temperatures just to make sure that it's not an overheating issue. If all fails, reinstall the game.
NekoCeko
Error says: GTA IV FATAL ERROR: EFC20 GTA IV FATAL ERROR: Invalid resource detected - Please re-install the game. I don't need to reinstall, but I need to downgrade all the way to 1.0.2.0, because 1.0.3.0 doesn't work either.. And I did downloaded it from there and installed the patch I also updated drivers, and I don't have any mods installed. And already reisntalled the game for 2 times. I'll try that settings folder thing, and check the temps then Thanks for the info. P.S. I sent Rockstar Support a mail, I wonder what will they say. Girish
That error generally occurs when you try to run the game from GTAIV.exe. Try running the game from RGSC instead.

NekoCeko
Ah, I'll just wait until I get my original game.. (I bought it on ebay, because I searched my whole city and couldn't find it, so I bought a pirated version. Then I bought it on ebay). Maybe patches will work then, and MAYBE that fixes the freezing (I'm not counting on it though). If it doesn't help, I'm gonna get back here, or email Rockstar again. CharmingCharlie
Well thanks for tying up our time and Rockstars time asking for help with a game you didn't pay for legitimately.
