xTRLx
Hey people, have you seen any films that loads of people love, but you didn't? There was a film called Paranoid Park, about a kid who accidently kills a security guard. It won a GRAMMY award, maybe more than one. But it's probably the worst film I have even seen in my life. They tried to be too artistic, tons of parts where it is just music and slow motion. The kid although is portrayed as absoloutely regretting doing what he did, looks completely fine with it, like nothing has happened. He writes a letter about what he did, then burns the same letter about 8 times in a row. He has an argument with his girlfriend, but you don't hear them, music just plays. It is absoloutely the worst film I have seen in ages. Perhaps even ever. You guys got any? Edited August 24, 2009 by papanesta
bigmike72
Going to piss a lot of people off with this one but I gotta say the Dark Knight don't get me wrong it was a good moive but people are acting like it is the best thing since sliced bread it felt like it was trying to be Spider-man 3 even the ending is kinda like spiderman 3 one villain lives one dies I'm surprised they didn't just have the Joker die they could of built a whole movie off of Two Face also The Dark Knight focused way too much on the Joker I understand he was the main Villain but really also the only reason grossed as much as it did was because of Heath Ledgers death not saying it wouldn't have anyways but I think a lot of people only saw the movie for that reason

Check out My Own Private Idaho, it's from the same director but a much better film. I think Death Proof did much less business than they thought it would. Personally I absolutely love it though. Superman Returns got decent reviews and I hate it. Kevin Spacey absolutely wrecked it with his massively over the top portrayal of Lex Luthor. It wasn't all his fault though, the writing was very bad.

Spiderman 3 was a horrendous film, and recognised as such by critics. So bad in fact that it ruined the first two films. You cannot compare it to Dark Knight. arsenal_fan
I remember everyone going crazy over the Da Vinci Code going to come out and when it did people said it was awful, but i didn't find it that bad, although i didn't read the book so I'm not like those people who read the book and see the film and then cry about how much different it was compared to the book. So bad in fact that it ruined the first two films. You cannot compare it to Dark Knight. In my opinion Spider-Man 2 was the worst. I didn't care much, if at all, for Doc Ock. Sure Alfred Molina did a good job as him, but I find it ridiculous that some people claim Spider-Man 2 is the best out of the trilogy. And just to get this straight, is this about films that were meant to be big, but then flopped, or movies that were acclaimed, but you find terrible? Otter
...Paranoid Park is a fantastic film. Anyhow, I was really let down by Terminator Salvation, even though it did rather well at the box office.

It won four independent film awards, but there's no logical way it could have won a Grammy. For me it was Burn After Reading, I failed to see any humor in it and couldn't stand watching it past the fifteen or so minute mark. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|
Fnorg
For me it was Burn After Reading, I failed to see any humor in it and couldn't stand watching it past the fifteen or so minute mark. I hate seeing this. It's somewhere in the middle sh*t starts to hit the fan, and the end is fanabulous. Hit movie that shouldn't have been a hit? Twilight. Movie that should've been a hit, but isn't? The Panic in Needle Park . I love the Al Pacino of the seventies.
Andyzoot
Dare I say Episode 1? Sure it made a sh*t load of money but it did leave a sour taste in most fan's mouths. Don't get me wrong, I quite like the film but I think the only reason I can put up with Anakin Skywalker, Jar-Jar Binks and Boss Nass is because this is Star Wars, the franchise that gave us so many good memories. But this film really fell short of expectations (although I will admit they were sky high expectations.)
Fnorg
Qui-Gon Jin was the only good thing about that movie, hell, the entire trilogy (CGI dudn't count). And Darth Maul's awesome light saber.
papanesta
When I see "hits" I think box office, where as the topic seems to be about personal taste. Whatever, I'll leave it open for just now, but it's verging on being a negative topic so it's on thin ice.

If we start arguing, then yeah, surely close the topic. But if we are discussing the movies, and if we disagree with each other, so what? I think it's quite a good topic. Goodfella.
Spider-Man 2 is the best out of the trilogy. Not only that, but the best superhero movie to date.

Pretty much answered your own question there... But, apart from the fact negative topics cause more arguments than discussion, you didn't even really make it clear what you wanted discussed. Maybe a bit of editing could fix that...
wjf
Lost in Translation and There Will be Blood are two that spring to mind, don't get me wrong, I did't hate either film, and can see the value in each of them, but there are a lot of people who i normally have very similar taste is films to, who went f*cking nuts over both of them, and I could happily never watch either one again. Vanilla Shake
Spider-Man 3 and Terminator Salvation were huge letdowns for me. I was expecting Spider-Man 3 to be epic, what with 3 villains in the film, but it just became way too cheesy. The ending battle felt like something out of Batman & Robin. And I was expecting Christian Bale to redeem the craptastic Terminator 3 with Salvation, but instead he isn't even fully focused on in the movie. Instead they focus on some other dude who I didn't pay to see and more and more throughout the film I hated that dude's character. But thankfully for the most part I leave films satisfied. Last great movies I just recently saw were District 9 and (500) Days of Summer, and both came out this month. TC718 / <629 / CF5
LanceVanceDance07
I would have to say The Harry Potter series. Everybody loves those films, but I absolutely hated it. Then again, that sort of fantasy world isn't really my cup of tea.
TOGA62
Inglourious Basterds I know I know. I think my thoughts on it will change, but everyone is claiming it to be as good as pulpfiction or better and I just didn't think it was. It could have been a combination of it being the first movie I paid to watch this summer, or that I was majorly thirsty and hungry while watching it, but in the end although I enjoyed the film I didn't think it was super awesome. I think I need to re-watch it so I can pick up on more of the subtle parts of the dialogue, so I'm not going to write the movie off yet. Mike Tequeli
The Dark Knight. Comments like that get topics like this locked. The "least favorite film" topics usually die because people list outrageous movies, offer no explanation and then an argument usually breaks out. I wasn't a huge fan of lost in translation, but I suspect it may of been that I didn't watch it closely enough. I also found Babel somewhat forgettable for a "good movie" but maybe I should watch that again too.

Mav.
Fight Club. I like the concept. Love the actors. Hated the film. Maybe not hate, but disliked. Without sounding ignorant, I felt it went a little 'too deep' and tried to be something that would push the boundaries. Just couldn't get into it . asimov
Man there's a lot of movies I could name, some of the big ones would be The Godfather Trilogy - Boring. I find I dislike lots of older movies, mainly because the style of filmaking is so different compared to now. I have zero apperciation for older groundbreaking works. Ghostbusters - I bought the 2 movie boxset the other day. I had fond memories of it as a kid but watching it again was painful. The only good thing to come out of that series is the theme song. I also now hate Bill Murray.
XXI Inc
You've got to be f*cking kidding me! Godfather was awesome, I enjoyed it more than any other movie! Are you a girl, asimov? iamanevilbastard
The Dark Knight (hated every second of it, fell asleep for ten minutes) , Pulp Fiction(too much pointless filler crap), Burn After Reading (not funny), Ten Canoes (BORING), Godfather 2 (1st one sh!ts all over it) and Jackass 1&2 (SH!T) And I forgot one, will post if i remember the name. Ed: It was No Country for Old Men. I hated it more than Ten Canoes. I turned it off after 45 minutes and watched the Bourne Ultimatum instead. livejoker
^How can you hate Jackass? You get a free and painless experience seeing guys getting hit in the nuts, chased by bulls and simply ripping their limbs off! Twilight. I'm surpised no one mentioned that. Seeing my younger sister is a fan of them and seeing on a thursday night I had money, I went to rent Forza Motorsport 2. Seeing I had a Volks Vr6 that I bought when I last rented the game (I don't buy it, i'm waiting for FM3 ) I decided to steal her book and do the cover art (which is 2 hands cupping an apple). I took interest in the book and decided to read the first two books. Before reading any other Twilight book, I decided to watch Twilight. I did. I just didn't BUY it. Not the movie, my...sister...has it. Always watches it. Anyway, I just didn't get it. The book had so much details, emotions! The film was dull. It's almost predictable what the actors are going to do, even if you didn't read the book. Scenes were cut out, good ones. Call me a hater or emo, whatever, but the movie was a thumbs down for me. ......I mean .
