From the initial announcement:

As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka "Gay Tony"), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.

 

If TBOGT is about choosing loyalty between family and friends, does that mean we might possibly see a relative or two in the DLC?

There was a topic a few months ago, that had a picture of Mario D'Leon (Luis' VA) and his mom. So it's possible some mother/son relationship could go on. I'll go try and find that thread.

Yeah I can confirm there was a Picture posted. It said something like "Me and My Video Game Mom"

 

So it would seem that Mrs. Lopez will be in the game at least.

I Think its possible that Luis will have a close relationship to his mother. I can imagine his mom lives in a small and very old house and has not much money, so Luis is doing the whole Gay Tony and Gangsta thing just for his mom, to make her life better or something. I'm pretty sure that Luis mother will be a big part of his story.

I remember that picture. I think maybe Luis' mom will be ill and he needs to do all this criminal things to afford some medical care. Much like in VCS. It's a pretty solid ground to base a story on.

Family members are fairly common in GTA's....yes, Vice City Stories and the Vance bros, San Andreas had Sweet-CJ's brother, Niko had his cousin Roman. Why wouldn't Luis have a mom?

 

She probably still lives in a project building in Northwood. I bet Luis has other family members too-brothers, sisters, cousins...Hispanic people have big families.

Their relationship will either be a close, loving relationship or a dysfunctional one.

 

Similar to Vic's mom in VCS, where all the money that Vic gives to her, she ends up spending it on coke anyway.

That's interesting... I missed that pic so I had had no idea. Anyways, my personal thoughts were that the conflict between family and friends that they mention would have something to do with the other Dominican gangsters he rolls with like Teddy Benavidez and Willy Valerio, as opposed to the new group he's working with, namely Gay Tony and the Ancelottis and Bulgarin. But maybe his mother will play a role as well... or maybe his mother did motion capture for the Cluckin Bell lady... we really don't know yet.

A lot of GTA protagonists have family in teh game. Tommy mentioned his dad being a printer, CJ had Sweet, Kendl, Brian and Beverly, Toni had his evil bitch mother, Vic had Lance, Pete, Aunt Enid, coked-up mother Janet and his Dominican father, Niko had Roman, Milica, a dead father who used to beat him and several other cousins Roman mentioned and Johnny had a mother who always told him he'd be a bus driver and his crazy brother Michael, an Army Captain in some foreign warzone.

 

If I was to guess, I'd say Luis has a mother like Tony Montana's. Always judging him for being a criminal and sh*t. I dunno, just a guess. Maybe she'll be a good mother like Beverly or Milica.

If that is the case, there would be some mission that determines one's death, like Deal or Revenge. In IV, Roman wanted you to make the deal, and if you chose Deal, he got killed in the end. The Same with Kate in terms of Revenge.

 

In this case, the moral choice would between family and friends. If you chose friends, Gay Tony would die, but if you chose family, Someone from Luis's family could possibly die.

 

 

But again, it could be between the Rich or Poor decision.

yeaaa... that's what happened with me, I went with deal not because I wanted the money but because that was what Roman wanted me to do and I liked Roman better than Kate, not to mention the feeling after the sh*t with Darko was that revenge was stupid... then Roman died and I was really bummed. I guess the lesson isn't about revenge, but just that the world is a f*cked up place.
